Luna's Howl & Not Forgotten changes aren't as bad as all of you freaking out believe.

Got your attention? Whatever kind, good. The guns aren't going to be useless if the proposed changes go through. 1: The only change mechanically to the guns themselves are their damage and fire rate. It'll shoot slower, but deal the same damage as any other 150 while retaining the accuracy of a precision frame hand cannon, what it currently is now. 2: The magnificent howl perk change is kind of stupid, I'll agree to that. It's completely redundant with the previous change and serves little to no purpose other than to neuter it in PVE for some reason. 3: These changes are still hypothetical. The update said that this was announced for feedback and criticism. Just because you can yell incoherently and fling shit everywhere doesn't mean you should. TL;DR: READ THOROUGHLY BEFORE YOU FLIP YOUR SHIT AT AN UPDATE! P.S: It seems a lot of people don't like seeing rationality on these forums. Who knew?

    • I’m actually all for a 150 precision HC makes it a little more unique in my eyes the only thing that’s got me a lil worried is the magnificent howl change. I mainly pve and love the feel of precision HC that’s the only reason I got the Luna (lol not good enough for NF). If the change the perk to body shots that’s going to kill its pve viability. Correct me if I’m wrong 150s 3 tap to the hear anyway right?

      • Balance the Bite At the release of Destiny 2: Forsaken, two pinnacle weapons became available for players to earn in the Competitive playlist in the Crucible. Each weapon has a unique quest, requiring mastery of Hand Cannons to complete. There has been a lot of feedback on how the pinnacle Crucible Hand Cannons stand above most other weapons in the sandbox. Today, we’ll be going through some balance changes planned for Season of Opulence. We wanted to start this conversation early, to ensure players understood that change was coming, even if they were still on the path to acquiring these rewards. Here’s the Destiny Dev Team to walk us through the planned changes: Dev Team: We wanted to give you a preview of some plans we have to balance Luna’s Howl and Not Forgotten in Season of Opulence. After significant amounts of feedback, internal discussion, and playtesting, we’ve decided to adjust how these Hand Cannons work. For some players, these weapons can represent a significant investment of time and the personal improvement needed to acquire them. When tuning, we attempt to take into account the time commitment players make to acquire weapons and balance that against how those weapons affect the different game modes.    Magnificent Howl (the unique perk on these weapons) is too effective. It works in a neutral setting and rewards players for getting precision shots—something they would have done naturally. As a result, the time to kill of the game shifts to meet this new benchmark, and players feel that the majority of primary weapons in Destiny 2 cannot compete with these pinnacle weapons.    Our current plan is to make Luna’s Howl and Not Forgotten the only 150 RPM precision Hand Cannons. They will maintain some aspects of their current behavior while taking on the firing speed and damage of the 150 RPM Hand Cannons. Magnificent Howl will also be adjusted so that it increases only body-shot damage, resulting in a two headshot/one body-shot kill. Magnificent Howl will still give an advantage due to requiring less precision hits for optimal time to kill. Like we do whenever Destiny gameplay evolves, we’ll be watching the conversation starting today on our planned changes. We’ll continue collecting feedback once these changes go live at the beginning of Season of Opulence. If you have feedback now, please make sure to sound off on the #Destiny2 forum, right here on bungie.net The changes are planned and coming .

      • Agreed. Instead of freaking out about Bungie’s decision, let the patch come first and try it for yourself. You cannot deem the weapon “BS” when you have not tried it post nerf. Just think about it like this: Your upgraded Midnight Coup.

I'm okay with the RoF change but the magnificent howl change was kind of a bummer. I usually only use Luna in PvE and now I gotta use nation of beasts (fatebringer) instead. I think the reason they did it was because if it worked on precision, supers would die too fast. I have a feeling now with the RoF change the guns need a new firing sound because they will sound too weak for being a 150.

        • Here’s the thing.. the 150 rpm hand cannons are not useable on console.... so honestly it saddens me because it means my Luna’s will become a fun I can’t use because of the frogging bloom/phantom bullet syndrome plaguing 150 on consoles, that’s my biggest issue with this nerf is how it impacts console players due to that particular archetype... if bungie somehow fixes that archetype I’d be all for ir

There was this guy called LethalViper80, all he did was put up posts that were devoid of intelligence and didn't even say anything that everyone wasn't already saying (since he didn't play D2, he couldn't form his own opinions). But he had hundreds of people ready to suck him off.

            • It’s true. No one likes rational conversations. It’s dumb. You suggest something and everyone hates you. Like if your so much better than everyone else than why do you care? It’s still gonna be a good weapon.

            • Looking at it from a PvE perspective it is much worse than the people crying about it for PvP purposes make it out to believe. Now I need to find a new load out for PvE.

              • 1. they are slower now and that affects console players, I'm a pc player and hand cannons are my favorite weapon in both PvE and PvP. 2. The Magnificent howl perk change makes it ONLY do extra BODY shot damage, which alters how players aim. In order to proc the Magnificent Howl perk, you need two headshots, but now the third shot does only extra body shot damage which makes this perk almost worse than field prep because you have to alter the way you play. 3. Bungie said that these are the changes coming up, and that means they will do it. At first, I thought it was only reducing the rounds per minute and the damage of the Magnificent howl to make it a three tap only, but after reading a few other times, It said extra Body shot damage, which defeats the purpose of aiming for the head.

                  • Mag Howl is now equivalent to pulse monitor, useless. It rewards good aim with bonus damage for poor aim. Like the archetype change may have been fine, but paired with the Mag Howl nerf it'll completely gut the weapons.

                          • these two gun were what pinnacle weapons should be. they should be slightly OP. they rewarded good play while punished bad play. now they will reward bad play and do nothing for good play. its a terrible move by bungie. they obviously didn't learn anything about catering to casuals from Y1.

My only problem with the nerf is the fact they didn't fix bloom for other hand cannons on console. Luna's and and NF will still be the main weapon used in the energy slot, the difference now being they will be the ONLY 150s used on console. That and players who use them may slightly increase their average engagement range.

I'm glad someone mentioned the perk being kinda meh for pve now, I actually enjoyed using Luna for pve but now with it being reworked, it's a toss up in the air if that increase body will still be viable in pve. I'm going to go off on a hutch and say it wont sadly, it would be cool if they somehow could separate the changes to the perk for pve and pvp but I'm not holding my breath
