The lore on the VoG was in no way vague. We were told a story of 3 guardians who went into the Vault. One died forging the aegis. One was lost to time. One escaped with such trauma that he forged a gun to keep him company/ keep a record of his existence - this was also tied in to other lore when he was killed in the crucible by Dredgen Yor. This story was tied in to the main campaign, which aside from introducing all the enemy races, also set up the Vex as the main threat due to the Black Garden. With the vault in Vex control, the threat we eliminated within the main campaign wasn't safe. The lore explained the mechanics. The encounters were fun, and epic. There is no epic story around the time we repaired a zamboni. The two boss fights I'll give you, but the rest of the raid was kinda meh. I also didn't like the jump puzzle as much, but that is more of a personal preference. And there is no way you can honestly argue that the Fallen are a more threatening enemy than the Vex. One are some space pirates, and the other are time travelling robots set in converting everything. Also, Hydras and Hobgoblins. Plus the Gorgon Maze was pretty good.

  • The Siva Fallen where a way bigger threat due to them being right near home, not requiring you to be in one highly specific spot, and have done more to the city that only the Cabal could rival.

  • Of the 5 races (Taken, Hive, Vex, Cabal and Fallen) only the Cabal and Fallen lack paracausal powers. If you kill a Taken/Hive on earth it can be brought back via its ascendant realm. If you kill a Vex on earth it can be replaced due to time manipulation. If you kill a Fallen on earth it stays dead. Sure, SIVA can reanimate it, but we have the code to deal with that, so not really an issue. The main point, is that the Fallen do lot have the power (unlike the Vex) to alter reality to their will, to shape it to their liking. You seem to think that just because one is closer, it is more of a threat. Tell me, what is more threatening: the enemy you can kill, or the enemy that once dead can come back? The undying enemy is much more of a threat, as it is no longer a battle determined by skill, but now one of attrition. Do you have enough resources (bullets, light, etc) to continually strike them down? Do you have the stamina and resolve to kill them time and time again?Even if killed, due to the time manipulation, you just always worry that they are not truly dead.

  • which of the five have actually done something devastating to the city. being paracausal doesn’t mean you’re a threat (don’t get me wrong they are, just noting can compare to what the Red legion and House of Wolves did)

  • Again. The Cabal and the Fallen can murder us...bad, but so long as your ghost is handy, reversible. The Vex can wipe you from existence. Not a damn thing to be done about it.
