throwing knife is a joke

shoulder charge is oneshot and aim assist, throwing knife on one skill tree does 29 damage headshot...glitch or?   • Throwing knives are a little lackluster, but not in comparison to Shoulder Charge. Have you used Way of a Thousand Cuts yet? The melee on that is insane. Not because of the ability itself (which does a fair amount of solar damage and burns the target a little afterwards), but because of the other perks that complement it. Melee burns targets? Well, killing burning targets buffs the recharge speed of that melee. Enemies don't always die in one hit? Burning targets now recharge dodge quicker, meaning Gambler's Dodge is then made available to get your melee charge back. Want to kick it into Overdrive? Pair it with the exotic chest piece that gives you two knives per charge. Now your melee is up almost all the time and you can keep using it to clear adds and even chip away a boss' health if you're low on ammo. So....yeah. Regular throwing knives need a way of competing with this.

      • Idk about the throwing knife but I dont see any change with my grenades. If a guardian has no shields and a grenade blows up at their feet I think it should be an instant kill. It wasn't the case last night. My grenade blew up between 2 weakened guardians and not one died. Nobody had any overshield. If shotguns are going to be a thing can we have better grenades? I dont hate shotguns but if I know someone is right around a corner camping I wish a right grenade placement would have him reevaluate his strategy. So far I'm still seeing people shrug the explosion and the burn off like its nothing.

        • throwing knife does around 120dmg if it does less damage, it just glitches pretty often if you are using the explosive one

          • The 29 damage is a framerate glitch- try a 110 hand canon. Fire once throw a precision knife. It will finish off the rest of their hp.

          • Meanwhile warlocks have the slowest melee and the same reach. Throwing knife and smokes go farther.

            • 29 to the head? I was shot once and then killed by a throwing knife the other day, and I have done the same to someone else (before the latest update). I've seen similar issues throughout the entire lifespan of Destiny, with weapons doing single digit precision damage when they clearly shouldn't. I haven't had it happen in Destiny 2. Must be one of those "forsaken isn't out yet" bugs.

            • Dont know how to feel about shoulder charge. I like the dynamic gameplay but I also feel that in D1 it was much more balanced since only one subclass had shoulder charge so it was a give or take i.e. you couldn't have hammers and shoulder charge. Now that there is no limiting agent on shoulder charge I feel that it is overpowered and the only way I see that changing is to make the new subclasses supers much better but now have the shoulder charge ability.

                • I heard its a glitch if youre running at 60 fps I myself always two tap a guardian and throw a knife at em, the tracking is crazy at times and finishes the job for me

                  • My thoughts: If shoulder charge can OHKO, throwing knife should be hitting for 90ish body and 150-160 headshot. There is no longer any burn and it’s a precision melee on a precision golden gun. Explosive knife has other benefits. Not really relevant to this post but a slight damage increase wouldn’t hurt.

                          Throwing knifes shouldnt be a one shot. However they should be shrong enough that landing one allows for an easy follow up kill. Also adding target tracking on hit for a couple seconds might make it stronger

                        • Found out it was that bad yesterday. That definitely needs a buff. I wouldn't say one shot, namely because it can be used from a distance. But definitely at least 100/80 or so damage.

                          • one tap with a heavy handcannon and it will finish the rest on the lower tree throwing knife and get recycled. Stop your whining, and figure out how to use it better.

                            What shoulder charge is: Heavy magnetism. One-shot. Requires running start and for it to be maintained. Cannot be used mid combat. Has a cool down. (which can be mostly negated due to skullfort) Has aoe that deals high damage. Not a safe ability to use when higher damage close range weapons are around. What throwing knife is: A projectile. Low to moderate damage. Can have a weak aoe. Relatively safe to use. Can be used mid combat. Requires no running start. Could be refreshed with melee roll or the perk that resets it on precision hit kill. Has no magnetism, but a fairly larger hit box than what is actually shown. Generally harder to use than most other melees, but grants the benefits of range. Shoulder charge, although far more powerful, is also over twice as dangerous, especially in pve. Throwing knife, although weaker, provides the utility of range and damage relative to or higher than most charged melees (from what I know) Throwing knives are weak right now, but in no way should be compared to shoulder charge due to the difference in utility and the downsides. A buff to damage is very well reasonable, maybe some faster projectile speed. It's like comparing golden gun to fist of havoc...almost literally actually.

                              • Throwing knives are a ranged melee with a large hit box and have tracking (better than truth) Meanwhile titans have to be in your face sprinting at you to get a kill, so kid we need shoulder charge to OHK! we’re titans!! Throwing knife OHK? No that’s the must overpowered sh*t I’ve heard. Get good scrub!
