*Disclaimer: I don't have cable, so I get all my news from YouTube and news websites.*
I was out yesterday and there was some huge protest in my city for some crazy event that happened in Charlottesville.
Can someone please give me a tl;dr without the political agenda bs? I'm really not interested in clickbait videos that don't tell me anything, or walls of propaganda text that I keep finding online.
What are the actual facts?
1. WHO was protesting?
2. WHAT were they protesting?
3. WHY did it erupt into violence?
If someone could briefly answer those 3 questions, I'd gladly send you a cookie.
Edit 1: David Duke @ 0:47, "We are determined to take OUR country back." Wtf does that mean? Looks like more "white genocide" bullshit to me. So white supremacists like DD are scared that their reign is coming to an end? This is some grade A bullshit.
Edit 2: Just learned that all this shit was over a damn statue. You've got to be kidding me.

19 RepliesThe liberal version of events: The KKK, led by George Zimmerman, started a raiding party that was going around executing minorities on sight. Martin Luther king showed up, carrying Ghandi on his back, and said "hey guys murder is wrong we should all toke up and hold hands" Then Goku showed up and all the kkk members channeled their energy into a spirit bomb, which looked like a grey dodge for some reason, and threw it into the crowd of people who wanted nothing more than to show their support for the new spider man movie. Then Donald Trump gave goku a presidential pardon for any and all crimes related to the incident. The KKK gave Trump a roster of their members, who all received presidential pardons for any and all crimes related to the incident. As a show of contempt for the peaceful, innocent, immaculately behaved group of protesters on the other side of the political spectrum, Trump ordered a series of drone strikes on every orphanage within 300 miles of the white house. Then Trump went back to reading mein kampf after banging ivanka

People got butthurt and started protesting. People that don't like the protestors got butthurt and started protesting as well. Then some idiot came along and got so butthurt that he felt the need to drive into the protestors. Tl;Dr - People did what people do best and got butthurt. It ended badly, as usual.

Why should there be a statue of a traitor....outside of a museum?

39 RepliesWhite nationalists are upset that liberals are removing historical confederate statues on the grounds of "much feelings". They held a protest to express their disdain, which was totally with in their rights to do so. Antifa showed up and started escalating things. Then a car with tinted windows rammed a van and another car through the crowd of antifa and drove off as quickly as it came. That incident killed one and injured I think 20 others. A helicopter went down at one point killing two. Things got worse and antifa was reportedly throwing water bottles filled with concrete at people. I'm still learning more about it myself but it looks like this protest was a huge shit show and I blame the state for not helping to keep the peace and facilitate the event to the extent they should have. The police were nowhere to be found when antifa was hassling the white nationalists and the police were once again absent when the cars plowed through the antifa crowd. It's a bloody shame is what it is.

7 RepliesThe TL,DR version is that a coalition of alt-right, Klan, Neo--godwinslaw!- and white nationalist activists decided to orchestrate a peaceful protest, but as the communist terror group, Antifa intervened to silence them, violence erupted from both sides, leading to 2 deaths and dozens of injuries.

58 RepliesReality 1) a bunch of white supremacists organized by David Duke showed up to protest the removal of a Robert E Lee statue. A number of other people including some from Antifa showed up to protest the supremacists. 2) see 1 3) some -godwinslaw!- and the anti-supremacists got into it and some anti-white supremacists got run over by a -godwinslaw!-. 1 died. Trump's version of events 1) a bunch of people where protesting 2) someone got killed 3) everyone is to blame ( I assume he lumped in the police as well) White Supremacist version of events 1) Antifa and Obama started beating poor white children for no reason 2) the left, Antifa and Obama are terrorists 3) Trump is a god

6 RepliesIf that statue can stand, can I put a big Lenin statue or Stalin statue in the middle of New York or wherever? They're heroes to some people.

2 RepliesIt's like we went back in time to 1920s Germany. You know, when the fascists (the white nationalists) and communists (Antifa) were fighting each other in the street.

6 RepliesI'm not a white supremacist, I'm not even white, but I don't think the statue should be removed, just like the confederate flag, it a part of history. History doesn't need to be erased because someone's feeling are offended. I'm not a confederate, but I still respect the statue for what it is, history. Nothing more, nothing less.

Alt right organizers and Richard Spencer have already planned the next white nationalist rally in Texas at Texas A&M. Oh yeah, it's planned to be on 9/11. Classy.

Is everyone surprised that Antifa is violent? They're literal anarchists, of course they're violent.

Edited by THUNDERCHILD: 8/14/2017 5:35:22 PMAfter the american civil war, Lincoln had this misguided notion that traitors should be forgiven and allowed to sulk back home with little or no repercussions for their treason. This emboldened them and they dotted the land with monuments to their traitorous heros. Today 150 years later modern sensibilities are starting to take over. Many understand that its very strange to have streets and monuments named for enemies of the United States, so these national embarrassments are finally starting to come down. However, its not so easy as it seems. The glorification of the enemy has had a radicalizing effect on many even today. They idolize their monsterous ancestors who waged war for the explicit right for the rich to own men women and children as property to do with as they pleased. In 2016 the formerly respectable republican party lacked the numbers to compete on the national stage and so rather than improving their policies and bettering their platform, amongst other doubious strategies, they chose to scrape the bottom of humanity's barrel and court neo confederates, neo naz!s, white supremacists and other fringe fasciests to bolster their numbers. The republican party is now home to these groups. It worked, and now these extremist groups are emboldend to come out of the shadows together in force because they feel this administation has their back. In charlottesville a monument to an enemy general was about to come down. The neo naz!s and neo confederates as well as other fasciest groups assembled together in the area, some with torches, helmets, shields and various weapons, they were looking for a fight and they found one. Thousands more counter protesters came as well, determined not to allow that unamerican trash to march through our streets unchallenged. Police did next to nothing during this chaos, encouraging the violence to escalate. At some point a neo naz! went full terrorist and decided to do as much damage as he could to his perceived enemy and plowed his vehicle into a crowd of chanting counter protesters. Thats pretty much it.

3 RepliesPeople from all over the right side of the spectrum show up to protest the removal of a statue that a few snowflakes on the left asked to remove because they were offended. George Soros puppet Terry McAuliffe declares state of emergency because of evil white people. Soros funded state police shows up 30 minutes before any protestors even showed up to remove everyone from the park and put them onto the streets even though they had legal permits. Soros funded AntiFa show up to start riots as per usual. This time they have concrete filled water bottles that they were throwing at the peaceful protestors. Protestors act out of self defense, one of them accidentally drives into a crowd of people, killing one. Media freaks out, calls everyone in the protest a Nazi/KKK member, blames Nazis for killing someone without even mentioning AntiFa. Looks like a victory for George Soros.

8 RepliesI'll do a super short-form
1. WHO was protesting?
White nationalists
2. WHAT were they protesting?
They used the removal of the Lee statue as a center for their "Unite the Right" bullshit. The only "Right" they are uniting are the violent authoritarians.
3. WHY did it erupt into violence?
Nationalists knew they'd be counter-protested, they were picking fights. Antifa showed and infiltrated through the counter-protesters. Commies fighting nationalists is a tale as old as the 30's.
