A few tips to improve your DPS at Aksis

Im in no way saying that Im the best at DPS. That being said, in EVERY group I join, I always double everyone elses damage. I have 4-5 million damage every run. Thats half of Aksis' total health. Everyone is capable of doing what I do. Its not that Im so good at what I do... its that everyone else is just not doing all the right actions at the right time. Gear used: >ex machina from the raid >dark drinker >sniper reload gauntlets Every LFG group always says "drop the cannons in the middle for phase 3". Thats the first thing being done wrong. When Aksis is waiting to be stunned, he cannot be critted easily. This means sleeper/snipers are almost useless. The cannon, however, can be used for 100% damage. I can usually get off 2 or 3 cannon shots (130-200k damage) while anyone not using a cannon does 0 damage during this time. After Aksis can be critted, I drop the cannon and start firing sleeper shots at him until he teleports again. While he is teleporting, i pick the cannon up to fire another 3 shots into him before his head is showing. And repeat. By the end phase, I always have all my ammo burned except for my sniper. I finish off by firing sniper shots at him until its time to stand on the pillar. A few additional things to note: You can fire cannon shots at aksis as you move from one side to the next to cover empowerment Dark drinker is more dps than sleeper but it isnt always worth having to move across the map to damage him. You lose precious damage time

      • Cannon- 69,000 damage per shot Tetherd- 90,000 Weapons of light and tetherd- 129,000 Dont drop the cannon untill its out of ammo... Why is anyone droping it anyway? 69,000 is 3 times as much as a sniper headshot, and you dont need to charge it all the way to get max damage per shot

        • This is my load out. Waiting for the Ophidian aspects to drop so I can use them to improve reload speed and increase DPS

        • You put the cannons in the middle and save them til the end so you can stack weapons and a tether plus anything else that increases dps, and to make sure that the highest light guys can use them if your running it with people underlevelled. You should easily have time to fire all 8 remaining shots on the final teleport, so actually by using the cannon without these buffs you're wasting DPS.

          • Totally agree with that cannons statement, I always like to drop my cannon on my set side right by where he spawns. Quick pick up and damage fast, can't waste time running for a cannon . DPS needs every second.

          • I think one thing people miss is that you can use a warlock with Viking funeral/touch of flame or melting point from the titans on the first two teleports boosting damage. I see everyone wait until the third teleport to try to use all their damage boosters when there are other ways to boost it before that. It adds up for sure.

            • OP, I alrdy like you... I hope everyone that saves the cannons last phase see this... is not that saving cannons is not valid... but like he said... the aiming and doing damage with regular weapons on 1st and 2dn teleport is hard to do and inconsistent, since you need to focus where hes going to teleport next... so is better having the cannons to deal some damage on those phases and then unload easily everything you got... in the end... weapons of light and a tether affect your dps on the weapons you use not just in cannons... and I feel use 8-9 cannons shots with buffs... is less of a bonus.. than unloading tons of bullets affected by the buffs.

              • Thanks for the share, not only for the original but for everyone elses! In my raid group I am the Orb guy, meaning I use my super to mass produce orbs during the shanks so that people can use double to triple supers for the Teleporting/DPSing. I am a hunter that uses Dark Drinker and wear the Skyburners annex... I tend to solo shanks on a side with my tether producing orbs and getting heavy kills having a chance to produce orbs. Also my helm gives me more super energy from heavy kills. I may not do the most DPS but I am a great utility!

                • My theory that I'd like to see done: 2 Titans (1 hammer 1 weapons), 2 hunters (1 golden gun, 1 tether), 2 sun singers (touch of flame, viking funeral and double melee and grenade artifact with fusion grenades) Three sleepers, three outbreaks. Have bubble use the cannons for the first two stuns then add his sleeper/outbreak. Sunsingers would attach both grenades during third teleport. The nades would further weaken him to all damage sources. Then hit bubble and tether. Possibly the best dps output there could be.

                  • Spindle and kingsfall rocket. When head is down shoot 3 rockets when head is up crush him with spindle. On final round use cannons even if he isn't tethered this lets you get off all 9 shots with most during tether and about 3 spindle shots afterwards. You should use all your ammo every time

                  • My personal tip? Don't be afraid to play Gunslinger. Yes, Shadow Shot is good and if I'm the only hunter I'll probably be on Nightstalker, but whenever I can I prefer to be on Gunslinger. Do NOT underestimate the power of Golden Gun, I frequently hit bosses for 180k+ damage a shot with my Celestial Nighthawk and Dead Eye perk set, or roughly 20~25% of Vosik's HP, insta-gib the captain guy @ the siege engine (Mosik or w/e his name is) and a solid 15~20% of Aksis' HP (this is all with either a Tether or some other debuff active like YWH, Melting Point etc.) Speaking of YWH, has anyone tested it to see if it stacks with other debuffs? I'm getting really annoyed that we have at least 4 or 5 different ways now to make enemies take increased damage but none of them seem to stack except with weapons of Light which is indirect and won't affect abilities. Just another 1 of those annoying RPG things that Bungie doesn't seem to want to deal with :/

                      I try to use up the cannons before the final dps part too. The cannons are definitley good for the last stun, but I find that they also just completely outclass everything else during the first 2 stuns. If you do it right, you should be able to get 3 million plus before you even get to the final stun.
