They need way less body shot damage and a lot more flinch.
-
They just need flinch or descope.

17 RepliesPeople only think that Snipers are 'OP' because they're excessively utilised in Trials. Look in any other game mode except Trials/Elimination and you'll see they fall about 5th/6th compared to other weapon types. This isn't at all about Snipers, it's about Trials/Elimination. The objective of Elimintation is to deal lethal damage to the opponent without putting yourself in danger, and therefore your team. Snipers allow for lethal damage to be made from greater distances in the event that you die, you're leaving your ghost in an accessable location to be revived from. The contrast to this is shotguns, which offer neither of these benefits and therefore aren't as widely used in Elimination. Whether or not Snipers are nerfed again will not change the way Elimination plays, therfore, Snipers will continue to be the secondary of choice in Trials.

Sniper rifles are effective at all ranges, have the highest DPS in the game, and function perfectly even when under sustained fire. Played properly you are rarely in any real danger, except from other snipers. As a test I picked up No Land Beyond for the first time ever in Iron Banner and used it for the entire tournament. My performance was if anything better than with a normal primary What about them is balanced?
-
OP .....no, snipers are meant to be a 1 shot ...to the head, Kill. That being said, things I hate....the stickyness....snipers bullet should go where the cross hairs are, the passing over someone and pulling the trigger and haveing the bullet magic do the work......that's what I would change.
-
I get picked off almost every match. I just need to adjust my game and GET GOOD! NOTHING IS OP!!!!!! NOTHING SHOULD HAVE EVER BEEN NERFED!!!
-
Snipers are not OP. The problem is that special ammo is not so special when you are able to constantly get refills throughout a match. Special ammo, just as heavy ammo, should spawn less frequently.
-
2 RepliesThey're not OP, the only problem with snipers is if an opponent gets the drop on them and gets their first few rounds off it should be nigh on impossible to make that headshot while taking that fire, that scope should be going absolutely apeshit, or a descope should occur, the sniper should have 2 options, 1. Try to make the headshot and fail or 2. Retreat to cover, reposition and re-engage. I'm perfectly fine with getting my skull popped if I wander aimlessly into a sniping avenue, but if I get the drop on you before you see me, no, just, no.
-
It's quite simple. There is a large variety of online multiplayer shooting games. If you love sniping and the intensity of quick scopes and no scopes destiny is where it's at. If you suck at it and don't like, then you should find a game better suited for your enjoyment. After all the saying is: "If you can't beat em, join em"

Its not that the guns are op or unbalanced. I think its the fact that everyone has them. Look at Halo for example, There are sniper rifles, shotguns and rocket launchers but only like 2 per map. sometimes only 1 and players have to compete with each other to get them. That's because they're power weapons capable of getting a lot of kills rather easily. They're regulated throughout matches by spawn times, ammo capacity, and quantity on map. Now when you give every player access to these power weapons at will 24/7 and make some better than others obviously it will cause problems. Couple that with large hit boxes and weak primary weapons and your competitive multiplayer is -blam!-ed.

Op, it's not so much they can ohk in the head, but rather it's how bungie is giving sniper rifles so much help making those shots. For example, in Battlefield snipers have a large map where velocity and distance matters because by the time the bullet gets there the target has moved. Also there's bullet drop. There isn't this ridiculous aim assist either. Also the weapon is slow to maneuver. When scoping, taking not only fire but indirect fire affects aim as battlefield has suppression. Bungie makes the flich minimal, bullet velocity has little affect as the maps are so small, weapons are fast to use where hip fire is even possible, no bullet drop or suppression and... most of all... THE RIDICULOUS AIM ASSIST. Sniping in this game is such bs. I know a lot of people praise bungie's destiny for thier pvp and I do like the game, but the ideal multiplayer... for me and imo... is still battlefield. I like the mechanics, weapons, balancing, no perks that make balancing hard, clearer and definitive disadvantages and advatages for using one weapon or class over another, I like the environment destruction, I like the levolution added in bf4, I like vehicles and I LOVE the map size allowing 64 players. Can't do near that amount using p2p. Oh, and that brings me to... DEDICATED SERVERS. My x1 is a game console, not a f*cking server to host matches. F*cking p2p ancient bullshit.

Nothing is or ever has been OP. Only crappy players cry OP or cry for nerfs. That's the way it is.
-
Not OP, but overused. But, special weapons in general are overused.
-
I do not think they are OP. I, personally, suck at sniping so I don't use them. I, personally, love fusion rifles so I use them.
-
16 RepliesI was playing Halo over the weekend, and it has a simple way of dealing with snipers: descope on hit.
-
Bungie says overused is overpowered but I don't think they apply that rule to snipers.
-
If someone kills me a lot with a sniper, good for them for being very skilled or lucky.
-
I used to do very great with snipers during the shotgun meta so I was just moving around. Then I went to fusions and fell in love. If this sniper can do better then my fusion at optimal fusion range then there needs something to be done.
-
2 RepliesI love snipers. Best special weapon hands down. Anyone that hates them, sucks using them, thus explains the hate. I hate shotguns. Can't use them. But there's a problem here. Through trial & error, I found out that you cannot have shotguns without snipers. They are ying and yang to one another. They both one-shot on 2 different ends of the range spectrum. They BOTH take skill. If you buff/nerf one, it will hurt/help the other. So do 1 of 2 things: 1) Leave weapons alone, no buff\nerf. or, 2) No primary/special weapon(s), grenades, or melee can 1-shot kill you. Only Supers are able to 1-shot kill you.

The aim assist is crazy in this game
-
I dont believe theyre OP, it takes skill to hit a nice headshot or get a killstreak with a sniper, if you have that skill then use it, just dont sit in the corner hard scoping!
-
3 RepliesI suck vex milk when it comes to using snipers in crucible, so I give props to people who do well with them
-
4 RepliesPrimaries are fine. Snipers are way too easy to use is the problem. I can't tell you how many times I'll be landing consistent headshots with any primary and still get sniped. I've even sniped guys in the shoulder and gotten headshots. That's a problem.
-
Snipers require a lot of skill, I only got a hang of it about three months ago, I started playing in December of year one, it's pretty hard to quick scope and drag snipe.
-
The only thing that pisses me off is how easy it is to snipe whilst being shot in the head!
