Different Orbs of Light Explanation!! Sizes, Strength, and Sources!! (Must Know Information!!)
Hey guys, Skarrow9 here. Over my time playing Destiny I have noticed different types of Orbs of Light. Well, I decided to go ahead and see what would make each size orb spawn. I tested supers, artifact, and the Telesto. In addition, I tested out the Gift of Light Defender perk and the Sunburst Sunsinger perk.
Results: Everything discussed is explained in much more depth in the video!
Text Results: If you are not interested in watching the video I will lay out the results.
It takes around 6 large orbs and 12 small orbs to fill your super.
So if you charge your super >90% with orbs of light, then you will make small orbs. In addition, the Telesto and sunburst both create small orbs. On the other hand, if you charge your super <90% with orbs of light then you generate large orbs. Your artifact and the Defender's Gift of Light perk will also do this.

9 RepliesWow the fact that you make different orbs depending on how your super was charged is ridiculous. I knew the orbs were different sizes but didnt know what caused it. More obstacles bungie puts in the way of fun.

1 ReplyAhh I was right. I remember hearing a long time ago that the strength of your orbs is determined by how much of your super that generated them was charged with other orbs. It's a throttling system that prevents infinite super chaining.

1 ReplyThanks for the info man, much appreciated. Question, let's say you charge your super 85 percent with orbs and finish filling the rest of the super bar with kills and intellect build up. Will you generate small or big orbs with super kills of that previous super charge?

3 RepliesInteresting. I always thought that orb size was dependent on what super/thing you used. But it seems like it's a combination of that and refilling with orbs. Either way I still manage to snow ball people with a defender in pve. My super drops 5 orbs+ iron harvest + telesto. Their supers then gen orbs for me which I can use to drop another bubble and do it all over again. I was doing this all day today. Sadly the people I finished my last strike with were freaking awful.
