Coming from the generation that explored the pixelated world of Wolfenstein 3D and Doom on DoS ...and even the chaotic fps mechanics in Quake 2 for Windows 98, I can honestly say that I love this game. From the lore to the detail on the walls of the various underground ruins, it's absolutely beautiful. And that skybox! I play Destiny even when I'm not on a mission...just to explore the environment.
I also like the diversity in the community. Aside from classes and sub-classes it's pretty easy to distinguish the raid guardians from the crucible guardians. There are lone wolves and there are full crews...and I've even had the pleasure of playing with some people that I could only describe as Legendary themselves.
The bottom line is, if you can get past the whole "rng didn't give me what I want" aspect of the game, you're left with a game that immerses you in a huge playing field full of awesome people and activities. (Yes, I understand that there are plenty of trolls and brats but I don't include them into my perception because...well, we aren't playing the same game.)
Keep up the good work Bungie crew.
EDIT: Please re-read the title of this thread before you comment. It says Destiny is ONE OF THE best games ever made. It does NOT...let me repeat..DOES NOT say Destiny IS the best game ever made.
Then again, if you can't even read the title properly then you probably wont see this...
EDIT 2: Alright folks, while it has been fun and I have seen two distinct sides to this opinion, I must retire.
For those of you who have expressed gratitude and enjoyment for this game, keep it up. You guys are the core of this community.
For those who have expressed disdain and dislike for this game, I hope you find something that brings you as much enjoyment as this game has brought to others.
Thanks everyone.

If you're on ps4 feel free to add me. PSN tekn0tize I'm always up for crucible and pve stuff

I get bored easily but this game has kept me playing for almost 2 years so I guess they made something right xD I really enjoy this game because of the loot and it has a special appearance. There are many things they could make better but nothing is perfect. I hope it gets even better later

3 RepliesExcluding Skyrim, Halo, and possibly Minecraft, I haven't put anywhere near the amount of hours into anything compared to Destiny. I'm not a huge gamer either, and this game basically occupies my mind 20/5.
-
2 RepliesOne of the best FPS for certain but defo not the best game ever.

Edited by alant27: 5/28/2016 10:37:22 AMIt has the best gunplay out of any game I have ever played . Nothing I can think of comes close. Massive flaws in the story aspect and crucible netcode part of it , and limited crucible options , but yeah , still love the game . They need dedicated servers or a new netcode for the sequel . Their endgame is spot on , but they need to improve the story telling for the sequel . Taken King was an improvement but sequel needs a huge story line, mass effect style

I agree wholeheartedly. Nice to hear some positivity. The sheer amount of things to do and variety of play styles means I never really get bored playing this game. I love knowing too that Destiny is meant to be a 10 year project, and that there is lots more to look forward to.

in a way it is ive played games since i was around 5-6 years old im 30 now iv never had play time stats for any game that come close to how much iv played destiny maybe fallout 3 or football manager iv played various final fantasy's the souls series (playing 3 atm) cod and more than i can list destiny is defiantly one of the best in my opinion and other players/people will disagree
-
I would agree.
-
I agree totally :)
-
Destiny is quite possibly the best at graphics and shooter/gameplay mechanics. If they could fix the Fukin crucible then I might agree that this is the best game for me.
-
Agree with you 100%

1 ReplyEvery game has its faults, and even with those faults, I love this game. Proof is how much I play it, and come back to it even after trying out and playing other games. The scenery, the gunplay, and as PvE player mostly, the working together to defeat common enemies keeps me coming back for more.
-
Agreed. It has its flaws, no game is perfect but Destiny is close.
-
Best shooting game I've played since Goldeneye. Cannot think of another besides it. Battlefield 3 came close, but the coop was horrid, so no. Destiny is the king to me so far.
-
Agreed. Well worth the money I've put into it. No question.

17 RepliesIt is without a doubt. Just needs more content. I think that is ps3 and 360 fault. I cant wait for 2 i believe it will be the game this one should of been. All this game needs to be perfect is a lot more story and strikes, raids of course, more enemy types, bigger patrol areas with better missions, more planets, and more pve modes, like a reach firefight mode or a battle mode where you can play previous battles in the lore, like twighlight gap or battle of six fronts, make it a weekly thing like nightfalls. This game needs more races too i love all of them especially the Vex and Hive but it needs a few more. The races need more enemy variation too. Maybe like 4 to 5 more unit models each. Vex need a sword unit, Cabal Needs a Warhammer unit, Hive need a scythe unit, few more infantry types.

1 ReplyI e played many games since original Nintendo. I'm 28, and I've done halo tournaments, Magic the Gathering tournaments, many console games, and even with new games that come out I still come back to Destiny every single time. The lack of content is a thing, but there is still plenty to do every week if you haven't found that perfect gun roll, or sick looking armor with perfect stat rolls, etc. I thought I'd be playing ESO way more than this but ESO took a backseat and now gains some dust.
-
Agreed. Signed.
-
3 RepliesThe gun play is destiny is extremely smooth and satisfying I think that's what really draws me to this game
-
This is exactly how I feel about this game, I made a post like this one not long ago and although cringey, I don't care because I love Destiny, its my favorite game and I'm sticking with it all the way through.
-
2 RepliesI've spent over a 1000 hours on this game. I love it! And will continue to play. Anyone with similar play time that says it's not one of the best is lying to themselves. Why continue to play a subpar game you say you don't like for a thousand hours or more?
-
1 ReplyI agree with you , I have a couple of draws full of games and if you put them all together didn't get as much play time out of them!! And also you forgot Pitfall and techmo bowl lol
-
8 RepliesOnce you play overwatch you realise how frustrating & boring destiny pvp is
-
3 RepliesObjectively speaking, as in from a critic's viewpoint, this game isn't very good. But I agree, love this game and it's universe.
