Yeah, gaming monitors are the best for refresh rate and input lag.

3 RepliesMy game room is awesome.....perks of being an adult with a beast ass job. My one is set up on an HD projector and one whole wall is my screen. It took a bit to get used to but it's wicked cool and I love having friends over for movies...the sound system got me in trouble with the law one night lol.

I play on a 75 inch 4K Samsung TV and I have no problem I don't know what your problem is

Lg 55 use sport mode seems to work the best

Edited by Cal Exabyte: 5/27/2016 11:59:56 AM55". Good picture quality, built-in sound bar with thunderous sound, the only downside is it didn't come with a remote. It was my brother-in-law's father's TV so I guess he accidentally kept it.

I play everyday on my 50" LED TV. Been told I should try a smaller screen or monitor for smaller response time, but I don't understand exactly how it works for the better, honestly. I get the concept, but..
-
Always played on a small TV, 19/21 inches, recently upgraded to a 24 inch monitor with 1ms response time. I couldn't imagine playing on a large screen on a regular basis, makes me play like I'm drunk.

Nice thing about being an adult. I get's big ass tvs. Destiny is fun but not so important that i'm getting a small gaming monitor. I'd rather see it giant. That said i downgraded to a 43 nch tv from 55 when my 55 plasma bit the dust.

My tv is 42 inch 1080p. My dad's tv is 70 inch 4K. Ori and the blind forest looks beautiful on it.

4 RepliesEdited by FoMan123: 5/25/2016 11:11:44 PMTV size has been a pretty well-debated topic around here since the Halo 2 days. No surprise to see it continuing for Destiny. There's actually been some research on this (see graphic above). As you can see from the graphic, since most gamers tend to sit 10 feet or less from the TV, just about any size TV will allow you to see the sharpest images and resolution (assuming 20/20 vision). Therefore, because there is no resolution benefit to having a larger TV, the most significant issue to take into account is field of view (FOV). And in that category, the less you have to move your head and eyes to see everything happening, the better. So as a result, for MOST gamers, smaller TVs or monitors (but not too small) with very fast response times will be better in terms of how well you play/perform in the game. If you sit more than 10 feet away, of course, smaller TVs may be harder to see detail on, and so it's often better to scale up depending on where you intend to sit and your vision (visit a Best Buy or other electronics store and see what sizes tend to work best for the distance that you normally sit -- you generally want to be able to see all of the sharpest details without having to move your head to see the whole screen). I think most of the pro gamers that I've seen who have given opinions on this topic believe that TV size is certainly important, but response time is far more important for better performance in the game. So if you use your TV for both gaming and just watching TV, get whatever size TV you feel comfortable with but look for a very fast response time. But if you have a screen that you ONLY use for gaming, you probably want to go with a smallish PC monitor, which usually has both better response time and sharper resolution, as well as offering a FOV advantage.

i play on a 55". just takes time to get used to it.
-
I used to play on a 55" all the time. I then made the switch to a 27" for destiny and it took awhile to get used to, but I'm glad I did. It's 100x better imo, way smoother. I use a benq 24" on my pc for gaming
-
70 in for the last year but played on a 62 for 8 years before that.

http://www.displaylag.com is a great source to review HDTV's and Monitors. It also explains what input lag is and might help you choose the best setup for your gaming style.
-
I have a 65 inch curved uhd, on game mode the input lag is not noticable. I used to play on a 42.
-
We have a 55" in the front room and a 46" in the family room. I have the same issue and just play off the family room XBOX and TV unless the kids want to play, then I move to the main TV. Just something different when you don't usually play on the bigger TVs. Guess it is just a learning curve.

Monitor 0.1 response time
-
I have a 32" TV, and I couldn't imagine playing on anything larger.
-
It is odd at that size. I play on a 24 inch Monitor with 1ms response time, and a 32 inch TV with a much higher response time. Even that difference I struggle with. So God knows how you or one of my friends play on 60 inches, I watched him play and my eyes melted.

Edited by Auriventris: 5/25/2016 10:33:49 PMUsed to play on a 42 inch, switched to a 27 inch monitor for latency reasons (and an office setup). Tried the TV recently, just can't do it.. Feel like the game is two seconds behind my hands. :(
-
I play on a 40", anything small is too small and anything bigger means I've gotta sit further back from the tv than I like to.
-
I play on a 60" almost no input lag, at least not noticable. You get used to it, i do pretty ok in crucible and thats fine for me
-
It's not about size, it's about how closer you are too it. A 64" from 10' away feels the same as a 32" from 5' away.
-
I play on a 21" monitor along side an 18.5" monitor which is hooked up to my PC. I used to play on a 32" TV but made the switch and have never regretted it.
Wow, Ethan! Great memes! Keep it up! Proud of you!
