Lets rewind back to TTK launch. Everyones hyped, and we get a brilliant dlc, as expected. Awesome, Bungie! I had been a supporter of Destiny from the beginning. I pretty much quit in January. Why? Because Bungie made a huge mistake: lack of content.
Of course this is widely expressed by other community members but I wanted to expand on what most people say. Lets take an example. If you were to give a cat (Destiny community) a bowl of food (Expansion) frequently, it would eat the food at a regular pace, and be content. BUT, if you were to starve the cat for awhile and then give it food, that food would be devoured. The second instance is the reality right now.
Unless we can get something big, and dlcs frequent, new releases will be 100% completed within a week.
The problem with the April update? No effort. Atall. Although im going to play it, just THINK about what is actually new.
- Strike boss, MAYBE strike map, probably just reused area.
- 4 Taken bosses (We have enough, its just a reskin with a special mechanic for POE? Awesome)
- Rewards. eh, they dont look too bad but we shall have to see tomorrow.
And thats it! Otherwise its just a return of POE and a light upgrade. Im disappointed with the challenge POE, I expected a taken skolas or some real boss other then point gathering.
Im sad its come to saying things like this, but its the truth. And before people mention it being free - this is about the frequency of content and not value.
Opinions?

I love it. Now, if they don't make it all useless for the next expansion, it will be fine. Infusion system finally gets the change that will solve a lot of people's problems. A few of my Y1 guns are finally coming back, exotics included (PATIENCE AND TIME). PoE returns, even though I'd like the Y1 raids back too. Still good either way. Are chroma glows practically weapon/armor shaders? If so, it's a step in the right direction. And I heard there's also more vault space, so that's nice. From everything I hear, the update is great. Until we hear the crucible changes, which I KNOW. Something bad is going to happen XD

This was done by the live team not the dev team.

That's exactly what in trying to express its not I want bigger expansions I just want frequent content not big but when a content drop happens then a big expansion comes out everyone just eats it alive because we're all so excited

I'm no scientist, but I'd be willing to bet if you starved your cat that it would probably go and get its fix elsewhere. Examples include but are not limited to: other games, tv, starting a new project, the vast limitless shit there is to do beyond the confines of your living space, yoga, fishing, playing with your kid, practicing getting a kid if you don't have one, finding someone to make a kid with if you don't have one of those, visiting family you haven't seen in a while, taking a side job for more $$, make a cake, cook dinner for your neighbors, get a dog, take your dog for a walk, go to the gym, volunteer at a shelter, volunteer at your local animal shelter, feed your cat, get up and go look for your cat since not feeding it led to it not returning, write a book, read a book, learn an instrument, learn another language. The point is that when you finish any part of any dlc of any game does not mean life comes to a halt while you wait for something new. Also, just because a new dlc or game drops does not mean life stops for you to aimlessly play through it in one sitting for days on end.

Frequent content would be good. And I don't mean expensive DLC content, but rotating monthly events not just iron banner.

1 ReplyActivision stopped reading at...although I'm going to play it.

Honestly I don't think you can take value out of the equation. If this update cost 10 dollars, it would be brutal. Since it's free, it's not exactly what I was hoping for but I'm excited. I don't expect them to deliver some huge new content drop for free. I don't think others should either. I'm sure they will though. To each their own. Regardless of what content we get there will always be disappointment as we never seem to calm our expectations.
-
I somewhat agree.while it's nice it's free for a change they have to be more frequent than 6-7 months with no pve content or you lose the crowd.what was worse was no communications with the community.

Edited by pixelmagic: 3/30/2016 4:03:16 PMBefore you say no effort you need to consider how long things take. All we do is play the finished product, too many of us complete something in X hours and assume that it only took X long to make. For example, TTK, that expansion that everyone loves to hate, the one with nothing to do, well that was in development BEFORE vanilla was released. Just consider that fact. It wasn't cut, the dreadnaught was in a promo vid because it was already in development and was to be included in Destiny 1, which it was, same with Crota, same with HoW. When and how was never specified, it was assumed, it still is assumed that it was all meant to be released at launch. Put that into perspective, it took Bungie over a year to produce the TTK content, and it took you 4 months to play it all, get bored with it and quit. What we have on the horizon is far from lazy. In reality we all expect too much, too often, and we are all far too eager to burn it to the ground when we've inevitably played the shit out of it.

2 RepliesHonestly I wish they would stop with these events like festival of the lost and SRL. Crimson doubles was fun because it wasn't sweaty like trials. They need to work on DLC and release 1 every month at least, if they did that this game wouldn't be as dead as it is right now.

11 RepliesHere we go again. Designing, building, programming, and implementing new content into a game does not take 3 months. Why do people not understand this? Bungie can't crap out new content every month to keep you clowns who finish everything in a week satisfied. Slow down. That is all.

Guys it's not even put give it a chance

Maybe we wait until the April update to express unhappiness with the April Update?

3 RepliesAnyone know if Xbox One players get the jade rabbit or are we still waiting?

I most definitely agree, andd have been saying this for quite some time, what is going on at bungie that they cant meet their supply demand. Its not only bad for us, but theyre just letting money making opportunities just pass by.
-
Those who voted for bigger or more frequent content are the ones that complain about the price tag on DLCs. Little do they know frequent content requires more staff or longer hours. Both cost money. The same with larger content.

6 RepliesI swear no matter what Bungie does, everyone is gonna find something so unreasonable to bitch at them for. Can't you just stop acting like a baby for once? -_-

All the bosses got reworked in Prison. Less health but more abilities. That way bosses weren't sloth like bullet sponges that were just a chore like ad control. It's easiest to change this because. VoG with "taken" would suck Doing nothing besides raise the light for VoG would suck since we have played that plenty Crota's End was abysmal and a strike at best. Prison was a turd heap last year and left the most room to be changed. So why re kill Crota after dispatching his Dad already who we fought because we...killed Crota.

1 ReplyYou are pretty fast to throw out opinions :) it's not April the 12th yet :) let's wait and see :)

Solid points, though i will not say whether or not bungie put enough effort into this or not, i am not a game designer, so i do not know how much work something like this taes. To us, it seems simple, but it may not be that simple at all. I am content with the update as of right now. I am not a pve guy too frequently, pretty much because poe killed it for me. It was super boring. The new version of it though looks intriguing to say the least, enough to the point where i actually want to try it out. I feel as though the people who do pve should be a bit happy that they aren't leaving the kf raid behind either, because it gives them more to do each week. Back in the days of HOW people would do the nightfalls, both raids, and poe on all three of their characters, its what kept them occupied, so at least they will have something similar to that again. The other thing is that they specifically said that VOG and CE are not making a return in april, which to me (while i am not getting my hopes up) hints that they may be staggering the release of old content, which i am ok with. What will make or break this update is the sandbox update. They really need to crush it this time with weapon/class balancing. Im not talking nerfs, im talking actual balancing. Slow rof autos need a buff. Hand cannons need a buff. some of the classes of pulse rifles need a buff. Scouts are where they should be, so we shouldn't see a nerf. Fusions need a buff, probably back to where they were in TDB, snipers are fine where they are, the problem with them is more the maps and the fact that other secondaries are weak. Shotguns are mostly fine, maybe just a small buff to make a bit more enticing to use over a sniper on small maps, and sidearms, well sidearms i feel are alright, but not enticing enough. There also needs to be a hmg that can compete with the terminus. That thing is just insane right now, because if you don't raid, you don't stand a chance a gainst it. Not saying its broken, but the lack of choices against doesn't exist. Firebolt grenades either need to do ticks of dot OR do the dot faster (if its 3 ticks a second, make it 4 or 5 ticks a second). Currently, they take you out of the game for 12 seconds if you get hit by one. I have no problem with the damage, but the time i have to sit and crouch and hide is just irritating. Stormcaller time in super when using transcendence needs to be reduced. I shouldn't be killed twice by the same super on cathedral of dusk, ever. No one should be, its absolutely an absurd amount of time currently. I don't see much else that needs to be done to the classes, maybe just a few small tweaks here and there, but i think bungie needs to at least address these things to keep me happy with the update. If i see a list of nerfs though on things that don't need it, while things that need to be touched are not, i will not be very happy.

2 RepliesYou know what's the problem with the April Update? The real problem. It's that many of you, those who are whining about the April Update, are confused about the difference between a full fledge DLC or an Expansion and an Update. That's ok if you are, there is nothing wrong with that. The updates like the April Update are mostly seen on MMOs. Most well known MMOs have these type of updates. The biggest difference between a DLC (or an Expansion) and an Update is normally the amount of content. On a DLC/Expansion the amount of content is massive compared to an update. They are often used to introduce a new "chapter" for the story within the game while an update are used to push the story along the chapter. On a DLC/Expansion new areas, new enemies, new gear, etc are introduced. On an Update you will only typically see new missions and such and rarely see new enemies or areas. You can kinda see that in Destiny. Destiny's official DLCs were TDB, HoW, and TTK all of those introduced new areas and new gear and such (sort of). Destiny's previous updates were more like patches and fixes. The April Update is Destiny's first and so far the only update that is more in line with MMO Updates. TL;DR Updates (also called FREE Updates to most MMO), like the April Update, are what the developers (often times MMO Developers) use to keep the game fresh in between paid DLC/Expansions. Either ways children please mind your manners. Anytime you get something, anything that doesn't cause you harm or problems, for free you take it, say thank you, and you keep on moving. It's rude and not to mention annoying for you to stand there bitching, whining, and complaining about it.
