Just read Deej's latest post and it seems that skill based match making is out the window in favour of connection based.
I've been trying to get my friends into playing some pvp recently as they hated it last year. They are still finding their feet, trying to discover what guns to use etc, and now here they are about to get demolished and demoralised one again.
Why?
Because, as usual, Bungie only listen to their friends and the elite Twitch steamers.
I've read many threads by these people complaining about how their games are a grind now that they are matched up to people of equal skills and how they DEMAND to be able to go into a match and just enjoy themselves by destroying all they see.
People complained about the lag. I'm not sure I noticed a massive difference to be truthful. All I ask is for my weapons to cause the same damage as others using the same thing.
As usual, we'll have to wait and see how this plays out, but it's getting to the tipping point now fellas. Carry on pandering to the minority and you will finally finish this game for the people who pay your bills.
Edit: To the people who are asking how a noob can get better if (s)he's not being challenged by going against good players.
Answer me this. By your own logic, how can good players get better if they are going up against noobs?
Surely playing people of similar and slightly better ability is what you are looking for.
Do you really think shooting fish in barrels improves your angling skills?
Second edit: well, I still have a good memory of all the whining that occurred prior to SBMM happening. The amount of hated directed to bungie at every iron banner.
It would appear from reading the comments that red bars was never an issue during CBMM.
I hope you all remember this thread when it goes back. Can't wait for all these no red bar, no lag games during next week's IB.
Let's just see shall we.

You realize of course that half the time the monster player is going to be on your team.

Connection based is so much better, better for everyone .

11 RepliesYou have no idea what you are talking about. You went on and on to hear yourself pontificate and you said what every other ignorant fool says. Sbmm cannot exist as the highest priority criteria in matchmaking in a peer to peer game. If you disagree with that statement you DO NOT UNDERSTAND the concepts at play. End of story.
-
Honestly, I think SBMM means harder matches. Maybe not in the first week or so, but once they catch up...EVERY person is as good as you are. Sure, some great player might melt you, but you'll also get some kills cause there are worse people. I have honestly not been liking the crucible lately, and even as a around 1 Kd player, it seems the matches are more "sweaty" haha. I for one am up for the connection based, but it could just be that I'm not having as many just fun games anymore.

Edited by Lil_The_Myth: 2/26/2016 12:41:16 AMGo play cod then ... Oh wait they took it out also :P jokes. But really it's not that bad it's how we all got better 10 years ago in mw and Cs 1.6/source

2 RepliesEdited by Revanchist1ab: 2/26/2016 12:11:54 AMFirst, let's me say I'm high up in the player base. Around the top 15% if Destiny Tracker is to be believed. I understand you don't want people to hate PvP and get into it... But if they can't take losing at something they're new at, then they won't stay to begin with. SBMM is the worst thing for us high ranked players. It makes every game incredibly tense and nail biting. Try having a major test every day at school and all your pencils are broken and your pens are all low on ink, it's like that. With no alternative (such as a social playlist for connection-based games) the Crucible becomes incredibly frustrating. Yeah, I do like fighting even fights, but only every so often and when a stable connection is assured. Why would I fight a game where most of the people are teleporting and kills from around corners are the norm? EDIT: Found out I'm in the top 1% for Sparrow Racing. :P

Would you rather get your ass kicked legitly or get your ass kicked by some guy in brazil using some jungle mcdonalds wifi and rage as he tbags you after he camped a corner with a shotgun since thats all he can do because hes not matched against higher skilled people to gain skill?
-
i be pavin my own way, to the top leme hear you say....

4 RepliesWell casuals players don't play enough to realize how much lag was in the game caused by the skill based matchmaking. I think connection should be the priority

2 RepliesWhat's wrong with elites human?

12 RepliesGetting my Internet upgraded tomorrow from 6 mbps to 50 mbps. The connection will be wired and the line from the jack to to the router will be <6ft. The router will also be updated with a booster installed. If I still experience lag it Will not Be Any Fault Of Mine. Unless someone who is tech savy has any explanation for it. I am open to that.

This game can't support sbmm because it's so damm laggy due to the lack of dedicated servers. Most games with sbmm have good connections. I propose two playlist one ranked and unranked. If you are are a good player and want to play competitive, then go to ranked and if not go to regular. If you are an average and below average player and don't want to get stomped then play rank until you hit your ranking where everyone has your skill level. This is the solution

10 RepliesYou don't get better from playing against other bad players
-
Hmm I thought people said they catered to the casuals... Man this game all over the place
-
"Elite" Players: We want connection based so we can have easy opponents. Casual Players (The Easy Opponents): We want skill based so we can play on our level since we would get destroyed by "Elite" players.
-
The impression that I get from the majority of the posts from the elite players complaining about sbmm is that their kd and eol suffer when they have to play against equally skilled players and they dont get to pub stomp anymore.
-
1 ReplySomeone got pub stomped.

23 RepliesTL;DR SUCKS TO SUCK. We can't all be winners boys, so us champions, thank you losers, for being you, losers.
-
Edited by Wonder Boys: 2/25/2016 9:38:22 PMI agree and a simple solution is to make ranked playlist the everyone e can compete equally. When you improve enough you get moved up to the next tier. Just watch the same elite streamers get their way with custom matches next.

I'm surprised this thread is still here

Edited by SteveNitroxid: 2/25/2016 8:59:24 PMLife isn't fair deal with it. Losing is the best way to learn. Id rather get demolished then lose because someone's teleporting around the map.
-
Well with sbmm you couldn't even play crucible because the lag was absolutely insane so they couldn't have played it anyways so
-
I mean I just want actual green bars in the crucible.
-
4 RepliesJust keep playing & watching the best play. U will soon be one of them. We all get wrecked at first but then we earned the right to smash others

15 RepliesEdited by Wrath: 2/25/2016 5:06:44 PMOH YEA KID YOURE ABOUT TO GET REKT. Seriously though, why can't us top PvP players have some fun in this game too? I want to use NLB and drop 20 kills against your friends, that's fun to me. Do you want to know what isn't fun? Going into a match after 5 minutes of searching for a "similarly skilled team" with my little brother and watching as I get matched up against sweaty team after sweaty team who send me "GG" after I just spent the last 10 minutes getting teamshotted by 3 guys in a fire team using Thorn and Last Word. That's not fun, that's stressful and not the atmosphere I want to be in after a week of midterms. Stop being so -blam!-ing selfish and enjoy the ups and downs this game has to offer, if you want to do well every single game then you should practice being good instead of waiting for Bungie to hand you easy matches.

2 RepliesYes - and the same time Professor Broman (The Same qball picked to stream TTK) is tweeting how excited he is about The Division beta a couple of Saturday's ago.
