My parents think I'm too thin so they won't let me participate in Track and Field. Is that wrong, or are they right?

I'm 15, 5'8", and 125. I think you're fine.
-
Edited by Calamitous: 2/11/2016 12:38:15 AMI'm 5'9", 165 lbs, 14 years old

You have a BMI of 20, the normal weight range is a BMI of at least 18.5, up to 24.9. Any less or any more is underweight and over weight, respectively.

5 RepliesTrack and field is non contact, right? Why does physical stature even matter? Best advice: start working out now.
-
Edited by SawxFan : 2/11/2016 12:23:10 AMAs someone who is 6'0 and 135, and runs a 16:53 5k (roughly a 16:20 3 mile), you'd be perfect for distance running. Trust me. I'm pretty sure a freshman on my team is only 95lb and is about 5'6 or so.
-
Why does it matter if you're skinny and want to run it doesn't at all
-
1 ReplyKill your parents
-
Depends what you build is. If you're just really skinny then yes, but if you workout and you can tell that it's muscle then no.
-
I'm 5"9 and 124 you're fine
-
1 ReplyI'm older and taller than you, but weigh less. I run cross country and distance track, you tell me.
-
That's horrible. If anything, you're about average weight. Sucks I can't convince your parents otherwise.
-
1 ReplyEdited by SKYTECH24: 2/10/2016 10:55:09 AMIs any of it muscle like do you work out if not then it's a little in the light side
-
3 RepliesDo long distance, like me. The best runners are the leanest runners. And you sound more lean than skinny. There's a difference. Worse comes to worst, you tell them you joined Science and Eco Club, and have meetings every day after school.
-
13 RepliesWhat event? Distance (mile and 2 mile- everyone is skinny Sprints- they'll muslce you up with the weight room Throwing- don't be a thrower, unless you're jacked
-
I think it's wrong that they aren't letting you do that. Just start eating more, and buying stuff with some protein in it. It would also help to have a workout routine every day. I did this and gained like 40 pounds in about 2-3 months.
-
6'0" and 110 pounds. You're probably fine, considering how much I eat.
-
No. I ran track at 6ft 140lbs. That weight isn't too bad for track. It'd probably be best for a sprinter or distance runner.
-
1 ReplyIm 5'8" and 120 pounds. Either im skinny. Or you are fat.
-
5'6" and 130 pounds at 14.

Edited by bren12310: 2/10/2016 9:01:52 PMI'm 5'11, 120 lbs and almost 16 I think you're fine I've gained like 10 lbs recently cause I've been working out a lot more
-
Dude I'm 16 and Weigh around 120. I didn't know track was based on how much you weigh
-
6'1 175. But I was smaller than you in high school
-
3 RepliesI mean I'm 6 foot and 210 at 14. So your small to me but your not noticeably tiny
-
1 Reply6'1 and 200 pounds of pure HATE
