6 RespuestasAs a 30+ year gamer, and a father of two, I understand your dilemma. I don't like quitters. But when I ask my son to do something, he needs to get it done at the first possible opportunity. When it's getting to be dinner or bed time, something he's expecting, he needs to be sure he's not committed to something he can't get away from. This is not only respecting me and my wife, but respecting his friends. It's important to me that he values his time, but also the time of his peers and elders. Respect is a two way street, but it starts with the parents setting realistic expectations and following through them. Kids won't learn to respect if they aren't shown how.

1 RespuestaMore interesting will be when during an interview with a potential employer you are asked about whether you consider yourself a team player and you reply "well I was always the relic bearer or the swordbearer in my clan, so I'm used to taking on high pressure leadership roles inside a team, when everyone is relying on me to make the key play work." I imagine that your mum doesn't believe you are a pathological liar, she is probably just playing dumb because she could care less about your computer game as computer games are traditionally seen as having no transferrable skill set into real life and are therefore of zero value.... Maybe in 30 years the ability to effectively coordinate an online only team through the use of VOIP and avatars, will be invaluable...

15 RespuestasI am 27 married with a 10mo... explaining to my wife that we are about to beat Crota on hard mode and i cannot pause is something that is out of this world. "what kinda game can't you pause?!?!" Then i get in trouble...

4 RespuestasMy wife is an old school mud player so she understands completely. If she needs me for something or wants to show me something she'll just ask, "Are you someplace safe?" I did make her laugh when she asked if I was someplace safe during an Iron Banner match and I said, "Right now nowhere is safe." 😄

3 RespuestasTell her: " you think is a fxcking game!? This is a fxcking way of life!? You cannot fxcking pause a way of life, no more that you can pause a spring shower or a babbling brooke. Do you dare pause the great American Bison as they graze majestically upon the plains? Nay I say! Nay! Now be gone with ye, before your disregard of the majesty of the here and now, infect me with thine ignorance." That is more or less what I say to my wife. It is awesome while I am going off. My fireteam members enjoyed it. Of course this is also a reason as to why I haven't logged into destiny in like 2 weeks.

14 RespuestasTry telling a wife who's 9 months pregnant just 5 more minutes. I mean it's Crota and I'm the sword bearer. People are depending on me.

My mom still doesn't get it either

5 RespuestasEditado por Wanderer: 2/4/2015 7:28:45 PMWhen I was much younger and playing early MMORPGs I had the same problem helping my parents understand the social commitment involved with online group activities in video games - especially since in the not-so-distant past group activities on consoles required the other players be sitting in the same room looking at the same screen. The inability to pause online games, when they were used to early console titles like Mario and Donkey Kong, was especially difficult for them to comprehend. I'm sure you've already tried this, but I eventually got through to them by explaining it like this:
Mother and/or Father, I'm actually not playing a single-player game right now, I am playing over the internet with other people. Because we're all playing the same game online, it isn't possible to pause the action. I am working with other players on a team to accomplish a goal. If you need me to withdraw from this activity early I can, but it is not something I can pause and come back to later. When I joined this team I gave them the impression I would be able to complete this activity with them. If I am forced to quit early, it will reflect badly on me as a teammate and the people I am playing with will need to stop the activity and search for someone to replace me, as they will no longer have a full team. When I am involved in a team activity, I dislike having to quit early or let down my team. If it is important that I do this because something pressing has come up that cannot wait, I will of course do so, because you are my parents. Now that you understand what I am doing, however, I was hoping you would be able to be flexible at this time so I do not have to disappoint the other people I am playing with. I can certainly let you know the moment this group activity is completed, and if there is a time you absolutely need me offline by, I can let my team know my time constraints now and be sure to quit the game if my activity takes longer than expected.
Feel free to give it a try! I wish you luck, young Guardian.

1 RespuestaEditado por MrSachmoJones: 2/5/2015 9:06:43 PMIf I take time out of my day to explain anything to your mom it wont be about your pause button. it will more than likely be about plumbing, furniture sturdiness, hole filling techniques, and / or her favorite yoga poses.
Get it? It's sex. I'm saying I would bang your mom. with my dick. on your furniture
Explain this to her Imagine if this was a sports team of 12 players, there are no backups. And all a sudden some guy has to go home to do whatever. How is the team going to work with 11v12? It's not going to work well. Tell her that games or real life, some things require teamwork.
