The Bible Wasn't Edited Like You Think It Was
The title says it all. The only thing that has [b][u]ever[/u][/b] been edited in the bible is the formal language. The main idea [b][u]always[/u][/b] stays the same.
So stop trying to bash the bible by saying it has been edited. Actually think for yourself instead of believing what some moron told you about the bible. Do your own research and you will find the same meaning, just worded differently between bibles.
It just blows my mind that people discredit the bible without even actually reading anything that it contains.

The history is there. The first Roman emperor to convert to Christianity had a selection of fairy tales compiled, he and the heads of the church at the time deleted and added as they saw fit to make the most effective book to control people just like you!(-: And around 300 CE (common era) a group of high-society individuals VOTED it as the official word of god. Dreamed up by men, written by men, edited by men, finalized by men, shoved down the throats of countless generations of innocent children by men. I'm just kidding buddy, you'll be in paradise forever and ever before you know it, because you're far too important to be just another animal. Take THAT facts!!!

Untrue. Constantine instituted the council of nicea and they decided which gospels would be included in the bible. Leaving out any that portrayed Jesus as just a man, or, less than the son of god. I'd call that a not only an edit. But a serious rewriting.

I'm taking a 300 level college New Testament class this semester. We have gone very deep into the history of the Bible. Although the King James version has never been "edited", the people who put it together (compiled it- "bible" means "little library") intentionally changed some of the scripts or left things out. They didn't have malicious intents, but during the course of our class we have discovered many errors in the transcript.

4 RespuestasThe council of Carthage chose which books were to be put together as the bible and 'true scripture'. Originally there were a lot more books such as the book of Enoch and the Dead Sea scrolls. These were completely removed and some that were kept were changed to fit with the ideals of the Roman church at the time.

Reread leviticus. You know, the book that says you can't wear clothing made of multiple fabrics, get tattoos, shave, gossip, eat lobster or pork. Editing irregardless, your book is severely outdated. Following it is like doing a thesis paper and using the 1970 Encyclopedia Britannica as the only source: you fail.

1 RespuestaThe main idea has always stayed the same? First, I disagree. Second, the message currently in the bible is abhorrent anyway. I cannot see the honor in sacrificing your son because of the voices in your head. I cannot reconcile a "loving god" with the atrocities he has ordered or done himself. That, and there are many biblical tales which don't match up to the history books.

INNNN WEST PHILADELPHIA BORN AND RAISED uhhhhhh you're a fabulous christian, i don't doubt that, you're a fine representative. for one, even if i was ignorant of what you speak, your statement means that you have read just about every single version of the bible to arrive at this conclusion. two, books, even those less than a single decade old, go through revisions. versions change. the bible on the other hand went through so many changes that we can't possibly count them all. entire books have been removed from the bible, it depended on the church's attitude. have you ever heard of enoch? his books were omitted and burned. that's only one example. this form of control was meant to keep the masses ignorant. what else was omitted? most likely the ordinary life of jesus and his ordinary heterosexual relationship with magdalene.
