my faorite loot system was in guildwars 2, they had a very nice and intuitive market place. where all characters could list their items for sale, and also list items you wanted to buy, and you put your asking price. then other users could fullfill your request. there was a singular currency. and it helped to easily reach a market equilibrium on every item.
