I am new to this board, and this game (since Christmas), so feel free to flame, I really don't mind. Sitting here on lunch so I figured I would introduce myself and give a short story about my experience last night. So everyone can laugh at me. Its ok, my son thinks its hilarious. He is a douchbag.
A little background: I'm old. 37. Probably too old to be playing Xbox. I used to be a WOW junkie and thoroughly enjoy video games in general. I have kids, lots of them. My oldest son spends all his free time on xbox. He is 18, in college, and has a good job. He has a ps4 and I bought him an xbox for Christmas. My wife and him seen how jealous I was so they were cool and turned around and bought me one. I bought a few games but made the mistake of starting with destiny. It is the only game I have played. I can't get off the damn thing. I work pretty much 6 days a week so my available game time is limited. I have a great wife, she is very understanding, and doesn't freak when I get home from work and start playing. Sometimes I can't get on until 9 or 10 because of responsiblilites, a 3 yr old, etc. So my playing usually extends well after midnight when I can. Needless to say, because of my schedule, and other time restraints, its taking me forever to level and grind. I have 1 character so far. A lvl 26 hunter. After a crap ton of grinding, bounties, strikes, etc. My son helps me on a lot of them to help me do the tougher ones for better rewards (although he always gets the drops, freaking rng) I finally got to a point where I felt like I was making some progress. My FWC is 2 so I am close to being able to get a new Scout rifle at 3 and I have 75% of the marks. My vanguard is now 2 1/2, I saved enough marks to buy 2 armor pieces. I bought the legs and upgraded them. I just was waiting to get to 3 so I can get the commendation to get the chest piece. Enough strange coins to get a helm from Xur and have leftovers when he comes. Getting ready to do the last Eris quest in the line to get the Guantlets. I literally just finished fully upgrading my Murmur from Eris, and my Harms way Machine gun drop (cost me all my ascendants). I only have a rare scout rifle but its leveled all the way up. SO this has taken forever...
Last night, after the kids were in bed (except for my 18yr old), after a 12hr day at work and a quick meal and shower I was ready to go kill Urzok for Eris. I teamed up with my son and had to turn in a bunch of bounties first so I put my unleveled weapons up for the upgrade experience points. We got to earth and scooter'd over to skywatch and lucky me there was the public event with Urzok! At that particular moment, the 3 yr old decided to wake up. She ran out to me screaming and crying. She wanted milk in her cup (my wife was on the treadmill) Now I'm freaking! Urzok just dropped down, I'm not ready, she threw her cup at me and hit me in the face, knocked my glasses off and my headset is now around my neck. She is pulling on me screaming and I need to kill Urzok. At this point I am sweating and freaking pretty bad. Its impossible to explain to a half asleep 3 yr old girl that Daddy has been looking for this guy forever and he needs his legendary guantlets. SO I tried to fight through the barrage of crys and pulls. I just need 30 seconds!! SHIT! I didn't switch my guns back! SO somehow in the madness I didn't switch em, I shard'd em! My fully leveled Murmur and Harms Way, and my fully leveled fav scout rifle. At that point I realized it Threw a nade at Urzok, threw my controller down, and got the milk. I walked to my sons room, borderline suicidal and told him I quit and why. He proceeded to laugh hysterically. Because he is a douchbag. Later he gave me some sympathy but it was too little too late. That's it I'm starting Dragons age........until..... this morning I woke up and all I could think about was how I could get out of this. Planning on how to use the strange coins, rethinking and planning how to get the armor I need to level and get a good weapon (I'm too low to run Raids for drops, I think? plus I have know idea who would let me on a team) I am even thinking of starting another Character to get another MurMur. Now I am scanning websites to look at vanguard weapons, Joining a forum, I must be crazy............
I'm on Xbox one

Do a few runs of VoG. That won't take long, is easy as hell and will leave you in a good position to take on Crota.

16 RespuestasPeople like you shouldn't procreate. Get your priorities straight you self centered ass hole. Did you really take the time to express all your feelings on a game fourm? You could have gotten your daughter milk 5 times in the time it took you to write this. You just showed everyone how shitty of a person you are.
-
You made me laugh!!! Been there, done that! LOL Remember that Urzok will be there the next time. Sooner or later you'll reduce him to a steaming pulp. I'd love to play with my son, it would be really great, unfortunately he doesn't like consolles games (can you believe it?). You're very lucky. All my sympathy!

There is nothing I can say and no way I can help (I'm on PSN). What the HELL was your wife doing on a treadmill at that time of the night? She should either have been in bed or coming to see what was wrong with a crying child!! Keep grinding, bro, it doesn't take that long to get back into it. Start a new character and get that Murmur back.

Editado por SurfaceLink: 1/16/2015 8:41:06 AMHaha.... IMO forget about the weapons!!! Get the armor (vanguard) all of it an level it up to 31. Now you can do nightfall an the weekly... An both raids... The weapons will drop after that. TBH weapons won't matter to much anyway, find a decent blue hand cannon (they do most single shot damage) an you'll probably hit around the same damage as everyone else with an exotic/legendary... An if not they won't really notice it anyway. 1st armor, that raises your level, which also raises your damage. Enjoy.

233 RespuestasEditado por A Saturnalia: 1/16/2015 4:25:03 AMCalling your 18 year old son a douche. Fine parenting skills. Edit: to the people defending this deplorable action, go get some help and never have children. Edit 2: Bad (or anti-social) teasing includes hostile or aggressive behavior that is meant to hurt, humiliate, or harass someone. Aggressive insults between fans of different teams could fall under this category of teasing. As you might expect, this type of teasing is one of the most common forms of bullying. It can lead to lowered self-esteem, interpersonal difficulties, anxiety, and depression, and can erode group cohesion in a work or team environment (Barnett et al., 2004; Keltner et al., 2001; Mills & Carwile, 2009; Turman, 2003).
edit 3: for those too dense to realise this post is a troll post, not the parts about my abusive past or the parts about me being a role model to children. I don't actually care what this guy does to his children. I know it is jesting, I'm not a -blam!-ing idiot. You guys flame up way too quickly, seriously calm down. Xur won't sell you that gun you wanted because you guys are assholes.
2 RespuestasEditado por Noteful: 1/16/2015 3:53:34 AMFamily takes priority over gaming bud. I would have never ignored my kid's need if I were you. I'm not bashing, just stating my opinion. Perhaps at the time you did not know that the Urzok Public Event spawns there every 30 minutes. Not a big deal to cater to your child AND then do the bounty. Yes, Destiny is a grind, but i love it and hate it at the same time. Stick with it, it's really fun. Just my 2 cents...

Those gloves are poop anyway dude. Family is always number 1. Remember everyone has been playing this game since it came out and you are playing catch up, so it's a grind. Why not share your account with your son and get him to level your character up? lol
-
Step 1: Go and buy an Ice Breaker if you can. No murmer needed anymore. Step 2: Focus on gear. You will get all the good stuff through drops. Step 3: Once you're lv 30 you can to the nighfall and weekly, this will give you the most out of the week (besides the raid of course) Step 4: If you want to do raids, start with vog. There are clans out there willing to help. Search for Dads of Destiny, there are a lot of great people willing to help you.

The gloves are irrelevant as soon as you get the raid gear. My advice would be: get the exotic helmet at Xur. Buy the vanguard or crucible boots. Insist with urzok. There are many others in that same situation so you should have company without too many problems. Upgrade that gear. That will probably get you into 27/28. Tag along friends that are playing the raid, find raid gear. Profit. As for making another character, its a must if you want to get more materials, coins and whatnot. You should do it ASAP.
-
How... Did you shard your stuff during urzok? How does a quick tap of "a" turn into holding down "x" This post confuses me

7 RespuestasAlso mate, I highly recommend you complete daily Vanguard Bounties to earn Vanguard marks so you can buy the Armour you need to rank up to level 30.

Editado por Weesil xD: 1/16/2015 9:09:48 AMYou're not too old to play games, seriously, I know a couple who are ~65 and play games. You're never too old to play games. And, try family first. If family needs something, then do it. It's ok if you miss something in the game. That is coming from someone who is a very very passionate gamer. :) Bungie, this is why we all need a way to favorite our weapons/armor. Shit like this happens. I've done it. It sucks..I know your pain.
-
Kids and destiny are a tough combo. I feel for you.
-
Im amazed at the amount of people who read that
-
I feel your pain ;) I'm a 'mature' gamer too and Destiny has become my fourth job. Family, work, band, destiny. Not always in that order. If it's any consolation I always hear crying babies and dads yelling at their kids through my headphones when I'm raiding.
-
Hey man, If you still need to find Urzok and don't want to wait around like a headless chicken then check out this Public Event timer. I use it all the time, sometimes it's a little out of sync by about 5 minutes but it's pretty accurate a lot of the time http://destinypublicevents.com/ Obviously just click on Earth: Old Russia and Skywatch. Good luck

1 RespuestaI am on xbox one with 3 level 31 characters (Titan, Hunter and Warlock, next week all 3 will be 32). Add me and I will help you do whatever it takes, however long it takes. You can even run the raid with my group and you can just sit back and take it easy while we will do everything required for you to get the drops. Why? I have been there where you are. My gamertag is packetguy.

Editado por Bytehoven: 1/16/2015 7:10:41 AMI feel for ya. It's sad to say, but Bungie is not not a pro player in the "online" game. Many other games have slow but reliable customer support which can help players solve many issues. I had an issue playing Star Wars: The Old Republic. After about 3 weeks into the game, I accidentally deleted my main character. BioWare was able to use a server account "snap shot" from the morning, and restore my character within a few hours. Now that's customer service. What kind of customer service does Bungie offer with Destiny? NONE. Accidentally bought the wrong item? Many games have a return mechanic with a couple of hours. Not Bungie, because something like that might cost them a few more dollars in programming costs. We could complain, but apparently Bungie does not even have a complaint department, just a paper shredder.
-
Add me on your friends list I'm on Xbox one as well my gamer tag is the same I will run strikes with you to help you grind vangaurd points and rep and hopefully pick up some legendary engrams
-
get yr douchebag son to do raids/nightfalls or whatever and join his game at the end to get rewards. might help? i would give u some of my weapons if i could.
-
Wanna do Crota before the reset. My clan and I will help you. Don't give up hope guardian.
-
Oh bugger I feel for you. But at least you never dismantled the exotic engram you bought from xur on the first time you got one. So yeah, if xur has engrams, you have a shot of splurging your motes for something decent, RNGsus willing.

Now that was a good funny story!! Keep it up ones you go on the raid thing it will get better.
