How are the Thorn and Last Word not overpowered?
I just want to see the discussion.
I know plenty of people use Thorn and Last Word because of the quick kill times. I know a lot of people complain about them. I want to hear something from the other side: If it is your opinion, how are these two weapons not overpowered?
Remember your manners, guardians.
Edit 1: I meant overpowered when compared to other primary guns. These two guns boast possibly the fastest kill times of any other primary, except maybe a one-shot kill from No Land Beyond or Universal Remote. Also, remember not all players have access to Hawkmoon as a counter.

They're not overpowered because most people have had access to them at one point or another. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em. That, or engage opponents from longer distance.

I am using suros regime right now for the first time and compared to Thorn it kills maybe a smidge slower but is more forgiving and better at range. TLW and thorn are high risk and high reward weapons. Miss your shots and they aren't forgiving especially with recoil issues. Compare that to a high impact auto rifle and yes hand cannons have a faster kill time but often can't engage multiple targets without a reload and require you to land your initial shots. The problem imo is there are so many terrible and non competitive primary weapons that gun imbalances get blown out of proportion.

Tlw is the last weapon i ever thought ppl would complain about. Ive used it & been killed by it, its the most balanced weapon in the game imo.

4 RespuestasHere's my issue. No gun should 2 shot kill you. I did that with my red death know what they did? Decrease the impact ever so slightly so that's no longer possible. Now you need a 3rd burst no matter what. Hawkmoon, is the exception imo because it's random. You can't truly predict when you'll get that bonus bullet and it must be a head shot. Thorn? 2 headshots. dead. It's not an op gun, but it shouldn't be 2 shotting people. I personally, don't have an issue because I sit back with Hawkmoon and try to dominate with range.

Thorn... Nah. It's just more common since the patch so people are taking more notice of it. It was the same pre patch when everyone wanted a buff. Last word however, used well, is great. The problem comes with the tools who hold down the trigger and blast people cross map. The gun is completely geared towards hip firing but people only use the ADS and get kills cause of it. I should not get cross mapped when I have a sniper, and they are holding the trigger, not tapping, or pressing, holding. It's frustrating sometimes.

I use Thorn just because people like to hide behind corners after I shoot them.

You can't approach every fight the same. Also you may feel, " damn that thorn guy", but you look at the end of the match they were bottom 3. However, I've been shredded by weapons but it was the player And I was doing the same thing until I closed the line of site and got the drop.

9 RespuestasThe last word's KT's are slower than I thought they would be. Either way, compared to other high impact cannons, they're only marginally better. Thorn has never actually given me trouble, either. I prefer using ice breaker in pvp over thorn and tlw

While they do have the best TTK of any primaries (aside from those mentioned) they're reload speed and relatively poor magazine sizes help balance them out. In one-on-one encounters I would consider them the best two primaries in the crucible. However, in most situations I find the Suros or the Vex to be superior all-round choices.

4 Respuestasthey aren't overpowered because they are easily countered; Last Word has terrible range, an Auto Rifle can easily beat it at medium range, doesn't need to be a Suros, any rifle can do it. Thorn, whilst deadly, is still little help in the face of a Shotgun user ambushing the player at close range. you also have Supers, grenades and Melees to fall back on. it's not like you don't have options!

2 RespuestasDoes it really matter if they are OP in Crucible? Fusion rifles are Op as well, but I can see you quite like using those. I remember when PvP players cried that AR's were too good, shotguns were OP. Well bungie fixed them for PvP, and screwed shotguns for PvE in the process. Almost no one uses them in PvE especially for high level gameplay. Ar's are still pretty good.

I applaud anyone who chooses hand cannons over other weapons in PVP and can wreck shop. I've found a new respect for all my of my hand cannons in the process. These weapons can be countered as well.
