How are the Thorn and Last Word not overpowered?
I just want to see the discussion.
I know plenty of people use Thorn and Last Word because of the quick kill times. I know a lot of people complain about them. I want to hear something from the other side: If it is your opinion, how are these two weapons not overpowered?

Edit 1: I meant overpowered when compared to other primary guns. These two guns boast possibly the fastest kill times of any other primary, except maybe a one-shot kill from No Land Beyond or Universal Remote. Also, remember not all players have access to Hawkmoon as a counter.

The last word doesn't have a lot of range and has a decent amount of recoil. It also has a really low clip size relative to its fire rate and not a very fast reload either. It's really good against in 1v1 situations, but not the best weapon for something like control. Thorn, maybe it's just me but I'm not that great with the weapon. I can't hit headshots consistently with it. Idk Don't get me wrong, TLW is definitely my favorite pvp weapon. I don't want it nerfed.

Thorn... yeah, it hits like a truck and has the DoT... but its mag is super small and the reload time is ass (Hunters via Chain of Woe or Defender Titans may have a faster relaod, but that´s it). TLW, yeah, wrecks in close quarters... but it lacks a lot at range. I´d call them super strong, but not in the OP field. Unlike Suros...

Fastest kill times in the right hands, I'd say it takes more skill to use them than lets say an auto rifle, that's why I dont think they're op, miss one shot against a half decent auto rifle player and you're down.

Thorn is powerful and easy to use, the Last word is hard to use imo so not so much TLW but I think thorn is op

The best is when I hit someone with my thorn, then snipe the damage tics through the wall. Only did this three times successfully so far. Funny as crap

TLW is fairly range specific. That being said, it's a beast in mid range combat. It can be beaten by a shotgun point blank, and many weapons at long range. Thorn is great, but it results in kill trades more often than not. They both also suffer from smaller magazines, making anything more than a duel problematic.

3 RespuestasHere's a video review of Thorn where I essentially say the same thing. Thorn is too forgiving, too easy, too rewarding, too dangerous in the hands of non competitive people. BUT I don't think it should be nerfed because it would screw over pve players. I'm okay with Thorn being a top tier weapon in crucible if it means it stays balanced for pve players. But I noticed that after about 15-20 matches with Thorn equipped, my KD across those matches was 3.43 as opposed to my normal 2.0. It's clearly a powerful weapon in crucible.

They are overpowered. They're EXOTIC weapons. Bungie themselves said that exotics should feel OP. Avoiding getting shot is a good counter active measure...

I used ARs until they took nerfed and then I did switch to hand cannons. The TTK is so long that people will use whatever they can to get quick kills especially when the other people are running fusion rifles and shotguns.

How many shots does it take to get a kill with thorn? How many for timur's lash? The same. Not op. And as for the noob hand cannon, it is really good at mid to close range, but easy to beat if you keep distance between it and yourself.

There not because of low magi zine size low stability and slow reload speed (compared to other gun types)

You can kill people in 2-3 shots guaranteed with Thorn, and 2-4 shots guaranteed with TLW. Both have exceptional rate of fire and stability for hand cannons. Yes they are OP. But I love them.
