Light levels don't mean a thing when you can buy gear that puts you at 31.
***Please understand that there will be exceptions and this is just a general rule to gauge***
***No where in this thread am I saying that 2000+ Grimoire = Pro player, i'm just saying that it's a way to gauge experience (good or bad)***
Countless times I've gone into a raid with a fireteam of lvl 31s only to leave halfway through because half the fireteam didn't know what they were doing.
Check the person's Grimoire score, anyone above 2000+(or - a 100) Grimoire Should have enough experience to be able to get through the raids.
I've found that it works to make sure my fireteam members aren't Newbs and I'm sure many people know already. Just throwing it out there for those who dont.
Edit: Everyone is under the impression that I just rage quit. That's not what happened, we just made a decision to end it there because we weren't getting anywhere. This was on a Monday before the reset and 3 of us were trying to do a quick run. I've helped many people with raids before and I don't mind doing it when there is time...that day there was no time to waste.
Edit 2: I'm not saying that everyone above 2000+ Grimoire is a pro. I'm merely saying that it's a good indication of a persons experience.
Just general things...what weapons are good against what enemies. Strength and weakness of most enemies. Where you need to stand to make sure we get all oracles...etc. These are simple things even bad (but experienced) players can get through no problem with a good fireteam.
Edit 3: Retreiving dead ghosts nets you 300 Grimoire points. I notice a lot of people bringing up "you can get Grimoire by just taking the time to hunt dead ghosts"...No you cant. Most Grimoire points will come from killing a lot of the different types of mobs, finishing specific bounties and missions, going into new areas and ets...all meaning experience.
Edit 4: Added - 100 Grimoire points for those who were crying about being around 1970 or 1940 etc...There are going to be exceptions obviously, but with the influx in Christmas newbs, this is just a general rules that I find works for me.
Edit 5: Adding Judahwo's comment as it makes sense and everyone should read it.
"Higher Grimoire score generally means more time spent playing the game. More game time means more experience. More experience translates into more skill. Are there exceptions to this rule? Sure. But it is a good general rule nevertheless." Give him a like if you agree.
EDIT 6: I didn't think I'd need to edit this thread this many times just to get my point across. To those who understood without a headache, please pass the message onto those who have been nerfed with horrible comprehension. If you don't understand, read it again, maybe it'll make sense...maybe go through the comments or even take a look at what the grimoire cards are for the first time before commenting.
Edit 7: Adding Dentez's Comment (Like his comment if you agree)
"As someone who been playing since day one (and has 2755 grimoire score), Requiring 2000 as a minimum requirement is perfect (for Hard raid runs). By that time players have basically touched ground on almost everything, and all that needs to be addressed is strategies for finishing the raid."
**What's with people getting so sensitive about being a newb and etc??...If you're a newb, you're a newb. Everyone starts out as a newb, it's not an insult, its a way of differentiating someone who's played the game vs someone who hasn't. Don't get all butt hurt and start crying out "Elitist" like that means something. Sensibots EVERYWHERE now-a-days.
Edit: Changed "Noobs" to "newbs" because according to some, "newbs" is more friendly and "noob" is more of an insult

Give that guy an engram, I been saying the exact same for a while now. Instead of all the LFG posts of must be 31+ etc people would be much better off saying must be 30+ and over 2k grimoire score. Id take a lower level into a raid if they had high grimoire score, shows they know what their doin and have put the time into learning and upgrading weapons

6 RespuestasWell im level 31 and have 3 pieces of crota gear, a vex mythoclast, a exotic helmet.

2 Respuestas2585? Good score or not?
-
I have a bunch of grim... Does anyone know what site i can use on how to unlock it all? Up to this DLC...
-
1 Respuesta2645 Agreed on Grimoire being a better measure of how long a player has been playing and how experienced they are... Especially back in the VoG it took me 11Raid completions to get the first part if armor! And then many more to finally get enough to get a char to 30... wih RNG in place, light level is just not a proper form to measure experience in this game
-
2150 grimoire score and I've never done a raid.
-
I saw a 2780 today in IB. Highest ive ever seen. Im 2680 so ive come across alot of players. Too bad he sucked. He got shitted on nasty. We were all randoms too.

3 Respuestas2620 here. I agree with this thread.

so many edits!!1! tl;dr

I don't think grimoire score really means anything except someone got luckier drops than I did. There are still a few weapons I can get even though I have played since day 1. Does that make me a bad player? No. It means I am not lucky enough to get exotic drops.

3 RespuestasEditado por cptgantu: 1/13/2015 7:25:30 PMyou can't use grimoire score to gauge how well a player does I can see where people got the idea from, grimoire doesn't mean shit, anyone can boost their grimoire by farming. the vast majority of the grimoire score comes from killing each type of unit thousands of times, the rest are ghosts and events and a few exotic weapons and maybe exotic armor

You are the noob with only 19 raid completions
-
Hah, I'm over 2k & I still suck.
-
If only I played crucible I could max mine out. O well, 2625 isn't bad
-
1955 so close haha

2 RespuestasJust means you play too much

3 Respuestasim at grimore 2130 and ive never done a raid...
-
Yeah 2500+

1 RespuestaBut what if it's low because you're starting over on another console? Not my fault that Bungie doesn't support cross-platform character/progress transfers.
-
1 RespuestaI hate noobs or jealous haters who come into threads like this and try to say it's because of dead ghosts. They're so clueless it makes me laugh. Ghosts are such a small part of grimoire. I'm at 2820 right now. Working on some of my crucible grimoire now.

1 RespuestaThis had 777 posts this is the 778 post

1 RespuestaYou also need to take into acount of whether or not they have ever done crucible. I had close to 2000 G score and had never been in crucible. So take all 3 into account Crucible Pve General Pve Raid
-
2 RespuestasSince the dlc dropped the more experienced players are actually sitting at 2500+ That's pretty much how I judge players in crucible
-
1 RespuestaThere's nothing wrong with a new player. I don't mind teaching noobs how to run the raids as long as they're willing to listen. The more people that learn the raids the less amount of scrubs there will be.

2 RespuestasAll this comes down to EDIT #3, meaning YOU DON'T NEED TO KNOW SH*T, just do the patrols on Earth over and over, eventually you will get 2000 Gr, guess what that's enough to convince you I know enough about the game to do a raid, WAIT WHAT??? BAM killed by the first Vex Lt that comes to take control of the plate because I actually wasn't ready even though I had 2000 Gr, but didn't know in VoG HM (because chances are you are going to do HM) their shield go out faster with void attacks. My point being Gr doesn't really matter when it's mostly gained by doing the simplest of tasks over and over.
