I just failed a public event on earth. As a level 31, I could not kill a level 5 Captain target. Exhausted all of my ammo in all 3 guns. Full Fatebringer clip would only just get though his shields and then they would regen while I was reloading.
Does this strike anyone else as a bit ridiculous?
I'm sure someone is going to respond with "get good" and someone else will talk about the time they solo-killed a target-Captain while masturbating but that can't be avoided here I guess.
I should also point out that I am aware of how the level/damage cap works and I know it's a "public" event but when there is no "public" (which is most of the time lately, in my experience) then it's silly.
So here's my feedback: Public events should scale so that they are always possible to win with the number of guardians available. (I'm not asking for them to always be "easy", but possible.) It's frustrating to exhaust all bullets and not get through a shield. If he can't kill me and I can't kill him- seems like a pointless event.

2 RespuestasErm, no. You spotted that you needed to keep the shields down, yet you thought Fatebringer was the way to go? Use a gun that doesn't have its own reloading screen. Blow the shields down with your secondary, then keep them down with your primary. You can reload any rifle in less time than it takes for the shields to come back up.

2 RespuestasAll this time I've been reading it "Pubic Event", and that Bungie was dimming the lights to set the mood...
-
1 RespuestaUse thorn for bosses with shields. The DOT allows for reloads without shield regen. And that impact.....
-
5 RespuestasHence the word...public. It's not a "solo event". I can solo public events but the boss based events that you described are very difficult.
-
I feel you, those kill target event enemies with shields are nearly impossible to solo, their shields recharge way to fast to even do damage
-
I would agree that these super regen shields need to stop. They aren't too bad with thorn but a lot of guns can't reload quick enough to stop them. I get put alone for a lot of public events. So needs to be more ways of soloing them.

1 RespuestaI often think destiny should go with the way borderlands does it and have damage scale with how many people are in the fire team / public event
-
1 RespuestaI just think that a level 5 should be cake for me as a 31 as long as I'm not in like the story mission with a low level trying to use me to beat it for them. But if I run into a level 5. I should be able to flick them away like an insect
-
Regardless of all the attention whores trying to act elite, this one public event is scaled a bit too high. Whenever I see it, I simply avoid it.

5 RespuestasAgree 100% tbh. Only way I solo killing the target now is with Gjallahorn. Which is ridiculous. I'm a level 32 and can't believe I can't kill a target without Gjallahorn lol. Sometimes there aren't other people around to help you kill the target? That's not our fault. Bungie should definitely scale it down if there's only 1 guardian.

1 RespuestaI agree. And the flood of "I can do it, why can't you" responses...predictable. Here's my problem with it (and I agree with you on all your points, particularly the scaling concept): It's inconsistent. Defend the Warsat: Easily soloed (unless some idiot with a rocket launcher shows up and pushes the waves past the level of difficulty he is able to handle). Kill The Fallen Walker: Easily soloed. Fortunately the presence of idiots only makes this easier. Defeat Extraction Crews: Easily soloed. Prevent Vex Sacrifices: Semi-soloable, but extremely difficult to get a Gold rating on, since even one missed sacrifice gives you Silver. Defeat the Target: Hardly ever soloable. If it is, you have to have been packing the right loadout and spec to match. Also they're wildly different from planet to planet; I can almost always solo a Psion, but most other things packing a shield, generally not. I've also seen extremely inconsistent behavior where the target loiters aimlessly, then suddenly breaks and runs and they cannot be stopped, immediately blowing through all their checkpoints and ending the event well in advance of the timer. Usually by teleporting if their type can do that, but I've also seen them "teleport" (really, it looked more like server lag, it was just straight disappearing) dozens of meters away under fire even if their type doesn't have that ability. ALL of these give the same rewards regardless of difficulty. ALL of these count equally toward a One For All bounty completion. That's the problem. Greater difficulty should net greater rewards. Be consistent. And that level 6 dude shouldn't be presented as a Major, he should be presented as an Ultra (like Urzok is), because that's far closer to his true level of difficulty.

They are a bitch to solo. No doubt about that. The right load out makes a huge difference. Hand cannons can be tricky to use. Fusion rifles to take down shields, heavy to do a lot of damage, primary to finish off. If you need to reload any of them, use a grenade to buy you time to reload and not have the shield come back instantly.
-
1 RespuestaFirst never reload weapons when you duel them. Use a fusion rifle to take down the shield, empty the clip then switch to your primary weapon, empty the clip and then your heavy should take him out. It works for me every time. Hope that helps. Btw there are no glitches in public event, you just not fast enough.

8 RespuestasIt's simple actually, here is what you should do; - Wow incoming Public Event - Look for what it is - Hmm, Killing the target. - Nope, not gonna happen. - Keep looking for another public event. Killing target is possible when you took a sword from a blade of crota summon. Cause, they have soo many bugs i couldn't list them for now. Best knowing one is when you reload in 2-3 sec, he will regenerate all his shield as you see.
-
Yeah, its annoying, they're designed to be taken out by 2 or 3 guardians at once
-
Got to remember, all npcs are equal to the players no matter the level. So a boss would be like a normal boss
-
He's tough but I took him out with a banana peel to the foot, a paper clip to the eye, and finished him off by shoving my ghost down his throat! Mac Gruber style baby!
-
Yeah, they are damn near impossible....so frustrating, especially because they have a time limit.
-
Grenades also help to keep them still. Many enemies will duck down for things like Axion Bolt, allowing you time to reload and with the grenade damage hopefully not let their shield regen. I found hand cannons are not always the best for these events. The reload is too slow. If you can keep that shield down even if you're doing low damage per hit at least you're damaging him and not the shield.

The one Captain in the Forgotten shore took 5 of us all level 30+ and we barely got him. The Captains on Earth are easily the hardest guys to kill for that type of public event. I actually hope they don't change it because it is way more satisfying when you do succeed. I feel your pain.
-
On earth patrol make sure u have one arc weapon so you can break there shields. Moon arc&solar Mars solar&void Venus arc&void And you should be ready for any event.
-
Git gud breh. I can beat him with husk of the pit only using my feet to control the player. Nah. Hes pretty tough solo, but it is doable if you can keep him from sprinting away. Melee attacks in between clips really help.
