So I was just wondering, for those who are married or live with their girlfriend and what not,how often do they let u play destiny or any other type of game?. My misses hates me playing Xbox and I can only get away with maybe 2-3 nights a week. What about you guys?
Edit: just so everyone know I DO have a separate tv in the front room to play on.
Edit 2: loving the replies. And the excuses all the blokes are coming up with about how's its their manly right to play. Keep them coming.
Edit 3: wow over 500 replies cheers guys. Its interesting to hear how all of you fellow guardians live too.

I only get to play when I stay at my place... My gf hates me playing destiny... And she wonders why I love staying at my place so much lol...

My girl is extremely understanding of my hobby. I even get her to play Diablo and drive me around in gta. That said we have designated Saturday as official game day. I work five days a week and she likes to see me rage at fusion rifles and call me a scrub. "Should I cal you a whambulance?" Is her favorite saying.

Live with Fiancé and play quite regularly because I work nights and she works days so I play when she's alseep and weekend we spend together. Plus I always get to fall asleep next to her and I can't ask for more than that

My wife has her own tv and a ps3 so she expects if I'm home, that I'm playing destiny in my "free time"

3 RespuestasMy wife hates the game but let's me play whenever I say I want to. That said, between being a dad, student, working two jobs, building a motorcycle for an upcoming cross country trip (whoop!) and working to open a brew house with a buddy, I only have the time to play once or twice a week when I'm brewing.

2 RespuestasAll it took was me hooking up my old 360 in the bedroom and getting netflix. Gilmore Girls keeps her occupied. Lol.

4 RespuestasSlowly introducing my girlfriend to the world of gaming. Started with minecraft... Big mistake. Now she never stops playing..

1 Respuesta"Let me"??? No, no, noo... You are failing so hard here if you need permission bud. I'm married and I don't ask.. I just do. She's not your mom she's your spouse. Just play. If she gets upset ask her if it's ok for you to get mad if she goes shopping with her friends...or to do what ever it is she likes to do.. It's healthy to have a hobby and YOU time after a hard day at work. I'm sure she does thing to unwind..

My wife has to work on weekends and my son goes to grandmas and I work nights so all day during the weekend

3 RespuestasEditado por Ash City Riot: 1/9/2015 7:04:55 AMMy husband and I both play. We have our own consoles and TVs. He's on PS4, I'm on Xbox One. The console war rages on, lol. Kidding. We both play quite often, too. Gaming isn't an issue in our marriage.

I play just about every day, but its late at night after work and suches.
-
She doesn't care how long I play (probably because the only time I choose to play is when she's at school/work and I'm home for the day a few hrs each day or if she wants to try and play with me which last about an hour before she gives up xD

1 RespuestaMy fiancé constantly bitches about me playing. I told her it's not a choice. It's a life style. I didn't choose gaming, gaming chose me. *pounds chest twice and throws up peace sign*

No one should be required to entertain their significant other all of the time. It's healthy to have personal time/activities. If you have a hobby that your significant doesn't share an interest in, whether it's games, sports, reading, hanging out with other friends, etc., you shouldn't feel guilty about doing that activity without them just because they feel threatened by it. I've been with people like that before, and it almost always has pointed to some deeper insecurity issues that person has. Codependency will always leave someone feeling drained. And those relationships just don't pan out/aren't healthy. That being said, obviously there needs to be some sort of balance. I'm in no way condoning neglecting someone's needs. But if it's an issue where the person is giving you sh!t for something you only do 2-3 times a week, then they'll probably still give you sh!t if you did it even less. And that's not cool, whether it's playing video games or whatever.

First of all if your wife or girlfriend are "letting you" play video games you're doing something. They don't get to decide what you're allowed to do

My girlfriend let's me play because work is a shit story all day every day. The fact that she doesn't like destiny but still is happy for me when I get thorn or the last word reminds me that she is being so nice to me because she's awesome. And yes when I got thorn I yelled the house together and she said, congrats now kill stuff :)

Your problem is in the the word "lets" as in allows you to play. You own your life. I assume you already did your part to contribute to the household (work, chores, investment in the relationship, kid related tasks if you have them). Once those obligations are done no one allows you to do anything. You chose what you do with that time. Paint pictures, dressing your cat up like presidents for your Instagram page, play Xbox...whatever. If anyone allows you to do anything it's because you allow them to allow you. Said another way, no one has power over you that you don't give them. I make sure to take care of all of my responsibilities first, and I can play Xbox 4-7 days a week.

1 RespuestaWife and 2 kids. I play after the kids are in bed. Wife sometimes complains about me not hanging out with her more to which I offer for us to spend one night doing her stuff (watching w/e on TV) and one night doing mine (video gaming). She never takes me up on it so I game to my heart's content.
-
I get to play on reset day and the weekends. That's it and my wife don't play lol. Also the reason I haven't worked to 32 yet well that and I was gone for training for 2 weeks after tdb came out

Editado por DOA Batman: 1/9/2015 3:01:58 AMMy wife knows I love gaming and let's me do it as much as I like. It's set up in our living room on the biggest TV in the house, she doesn't care, she just paints her nails and shit while I'm gaming. She has never bitched in 7 years. Even now that our kids got an xbox in their room and we only see them for meals now cause they are all over Lego Batman 3 and skylanders lol
