Is Bungie's "stocking stuffer" the last straw for some Guardians?
Were you happy with your run of the mill legendary weapon? I'm sure most Xmas noobs certainly are! Or do you see this as a missed opportunity for Bungie? An opportunity that could've made the toxic forums explode in positivity instead of all this hatred going on? Let me know what you think. Discuss. Debate. Grow.
(I myself got a Badger CCL. 2 energy basically. I was expecting this but would've been happier with say; 10 heavy synth, a shader, emblem or class item. I still love this game, but think Bungie continues to shoot holes in a sinking ship for some)
Edit 1 (5:04 pm): Thanks for all the responses everyone! Its always interesting to see people from all different walks of life respond to these issues. First thing I've noticed; most Day One players were underwhelmed, indifferent, or think Bungie could have done a better job with the PR on this "freebie". Others are upset that Christmas noobs are getting handed a lot of things. Fair enough. Christmas noobs or even casual players have greatly enjoyed this gift! I'm happy for them as well. I've seen some better options for what could have been done. My favorite: a redeemable token to get any Vanguard or Crucible gun.

I got the auto rifle I bought with 150 marks yesterday... and my last 3 engrams have become weapons I already spent 4.5 weeks worth of marks on. I dont even have that many weapons, so these doubles are a mind-boggling crotch-punch. It's RNG, and it's not a good system. Diablo will comfort my sorrows I'm fine with "noobs" getting weapons though. Hopefully it's a head start to some.

Please, a lot of people are upset that people can level up after the dlc dropped. Some people complain about nothing just for the sake of complaining. They did not give Xmas noobs handouts. They gave everyone a gift. So my follow up question to those that have an axe to grind is this. Are you playing this game for handouts? Because if you are then I understand and you did get a hand out as well. Just because it was not something you could use does not make it not a handout.

The lack of effort is disappointing. We should have had events over the holiday period not a trash weapon that took about as much work as sending an email saying "-blam!- you" to all your contacts.

Seriously, I can't think of anything. - Bungie mails everybody $500: Forums say it isn't enough money considering how bad Destiny is - Bungie gives every player every exotic in the game: Forums complain that there isn't enough vault space to hold it all, and the earners start chiming in too - Bungie gives every Destiny player a lifetime free pass to all Bungie content from now into forever: Forums say that this is only because Bungie's games aren't very good and should be free anyway.

A token for any vendor gun would have been super cool. But after getting only blue engrams in last weeks nightfall, a purple anything was great. Hooray, 2x energy.

Honestly? If this was to be the "last straw" for someone, than I say "good riddance". It is an absolutely petty thing for people to get upset over. Mind you, I am sure that there are some people complaining who are the same people who thump his/her chest about "earning" Exotics, or about how Legendaries "never drop" for them. There is nothing wrong with people being disappointed, though. It would not be a real holiday present if people did not at least run a legitimate risk of getting something useless (like the same tie, for the fifth time). It is when we are seeing people cross over the point from being disappointed to be spiteful, though, it is incredibly juvenile. You are right, a token exchange for an Weapon would have been a great idea. But, this community would still have complained about it. You would see an onslaught of threads about "I earned my Marks and Reputation." In the end, there is not a single thing they could give or do that would not generate the toxic responses that have become the normal around here.

If people quit this game because of a FREE CHRISTMAS GIFT, then good riddance. Hopefully this cesspool of a community is cleared out a bit, probably not though.

11 RespuestasAbsolutely nothing Bungie could have done with a single gift package would have pleased this toxic forum. Nothing. If they gave everyone Gjallarhorns, at least 50% the Gjally owners from before the gift would explode in rage at how "trashy casuals" got "given" a weapon they had to "earn." (SGA: It's a f@$king RANDOM number generator - you didn't earn sh!t, you got lucky enough to roll it, EOS.) If they gave Exotic engrams that turned into a random gun, at least 50% of the people who got a gun they already had a copy of would explode in rage about being "insulted" by being given something they already had. Or making the same complaint as above. Same if it was an armor piece. If they gave a free token for 25,000 Glimmer and 5 Exotic shards, at least 50% of the hardcore grinders would explode in rage that these "entitled trash newbs" were getting given free junk they had to seriously grind for and didn't appreciate that the game was supposed to require hard work to succeed. And plenty more people would scream that instead of giving a one-time Glimmer gift, Bungie should just make the economy less draconian (which for the record I agree with!). There is no pleasing this forum's denizens.
