Thorn is Broken.
This weapon is extremely overpowered in conparison to other primary weapons. At first I thought to myself "It's not OP I bet the person is just really good with it." Now that I have the weapon I know for sure thats it's extremely overpowered. Thorn can kill in two headshots and one body shot and that's not even factoring in its burn damage. Anyone denying this weapon is overpowered is simply pampered by the weapons power and have grown to rely on it far too much. The Thorn is the only weapon I struggle against (that is, until I equip my Thorn) but the solution to one weapon shouldn't be the same weapon. Of course many of you will bombard this thread with a volley of insults but that is to be expected. For those of you with reason, I'm pretty sure you agree and want nothing more but to see more balance in the Crucible. Please don't bring "Thorn isn't even that OP compared to Vex or Suros" here because the topic at hand here is the Thorn.

The only nerf thorn needs is the disorienting effect that it causes. It covers most of the screen in an obnoxious green haze for about 5 seconds.

But I mean I just have to adjust my play style on said map to avoid it. If that doesn't tell you how strong that gun is idk what does.

14 RespuestasThorn is ranked 3rd as most used crucible weapon by players. Hm I wonder why? The fact that Thorn is so sought after proves that the weapon is a cut above the rest. Obviously, it being in 3rd means that there are other overpowered weapons, but they don't make Thorn any less of a weapon. The weapon is apeshit, which is why 80% of players are raging not to change it; you have become spoiled by it. You all try to say Hawkmoon is "worse" yet I see no such complaints on it being overpowered, quite the opposite really and there is no desire to use it in crucible as it isn't even on the usage census.

1 RespuestaThorn is just like any other hand cannon its 3 shot kills have nothing to do with the gun itself. I can get 2 shot kills with Hawkmoon if its bonus dmg lands on a headshot. Any legendary hand cannon with crowd control and 1 random bullet causing more dmg is a force to be reckoned with. Thorn is good but no where near worth the tears its causing.

Completely agree. 1 headshot and they are at a quarter health a body shot and they are dead. If not then the burn damage will get them. It's never been easier to get postmortem kills.

At least players have a decent chance to earn this weapon once you get the bounty. Exotics should just be slightly better than comparable legendaries in stats and should have an extra perk. You can only equip one at a time to maximize a particular area. Players need guaranteed pathways to earn the exotics they want. It's not hard to understand, Bungie. Why you make so much imbalance...?

"Can kill in 2 headshots and that's not even considering the burn" wrong. It's 2 headshots WITH the burn. You sure you have a thorn? By the way easy counter to thorn is a bit tricky but engage In a firefight with them. If you allow them to pick their shots it's not a fight you'll win.

Thorn and shotguns is usually the set up in pvp. I just like to counter shotguns with range fusion rifle.... space dust

I'm no legendary PvP player, but hawkmoon more often than not kills my thorn. I'm decent with head shots and at one time, I was rolling through people like a hot tire through snow. But after playing with TLW, I can say that Thorn is about equal to it. The difference is how you use them. What is broken about the Crucible is that you don't know what weapon thr other player is using until it's to late. EVERY weapon can be countered effectively. I sincerely mean that. BUT, in order to counter it, you have to know which one it is. Therein lies the rub. TLW is a bad choice beyond a certain distance. It's most effective at close range. Thorn is effective at long range. I can ALMOST snipe with it with the range perk equipped. To counter thorn, you need to be up close and personal. Hawkmoon...now THATS a killer weapon. Yet I don't see nearly as many posts here calling for a hawkmoon nerf. Thorn requires perseverance to acquire. For that reason alone, it should be as powerful and it is.

7 Respuestasany hand cannon kills in 2 headshot 1 body shots. its just the perks that make it "OP" i have 2 thorns now and one to the mark of the devourer, i might be using it wrong because i havent used a HC in pvp in a while but i miss my shots 60% because of the sights. after looking down an auto rifle, or scout rifles sights, handcannons are a little harder to use. hand cannons are still my favorite gun to use. sadly since the 331 update i camt find any good 331 handcannons, i just have exotic HC. please help

It has every reason to be the gun that it is. I would say that if you get killed by one in the Crucibles respect the guy holding it, he did the work to get it and has enough skill to kill people with it. Because it's not a one hit kill weapon, if you don't hit the critical at least once you will need three (sometimes four) non-critical shots to get a player with full health dead. Which is nothing that could be considered close to "OP" by any standards. And if you die for its mark of the devour perk accept that you would probably die anyways on the next couple of seconds.

2 RespuestasI totally agree with you, I made a post with a poll a long time ago asking what others thought about nerfing it. Keeping the Thorn unchanged was heavily favored, don't know why. In my opinion this gun disrupts the flow of crucible, one shot to the head will take a guardian out of a gun fight if he wants to live and that is why this gun is op. No matter what they say, I will stand by you, the Thorn is op.

It's not the weapon killing u, it's ur ability in comparison to the other player. Thorn is far from op. ill assume u don't have or use other exotic hand cannons or ud know this.
