If there's one thing I like in video games, it's lore. Halo has a lot of lore and so does Destiny, although it isn't presented as well. Nevertheless I have been reading the Grimore and listening to the pointless things Peter Dinklebot says during the game, so in any case, fire away!
Edit: you guys are spamming me with questions! I can barely keep up. Keep posting and I will answer the best I can.
Edit 2: Xur is an agent of the nine who is tasked with (I think) bargaining with the guardians in the tower. I don't know who the Nine are
Edit 3: Rasputin is a warmind, a super powerful AI tasked with defending Earth. He spans many satellites and defense grids. But he has fallen dormant, and has been awakened by your guardian. The Hive breached his inner chamber, looking for questions, but your guardian stopped them.
Edit 4: Dregden Yor was a powerful guardian with a legendary hand cannon named Rose. He became corrupted by it, obsessed with protecting it from anyone. As the darkness was getting to him, he became even more deluded, and eventually shot the wielder of The Last Word for merely asking to see it. This was the final push over the edge and he finally turned to Darkness, his Rose becoming a Thorn.

Dregden Yor may have shot Jaren Ward (though I strongly believe he was Ward for many reasons) but he wasn't the man asking to see the Thorn. The man clearly says "But...but...you're a...you're one of them...A Guardian, right?" then "You're supposed t'be one'a the good ones."... That man clearly wasn't a guardian. I don't think the associations on the card mean that all the names, places and guns were necessarily present in that scene, just that they were all part of the larger story. Besides, the man who was shot in that story was wetting his pants at the end. Not the behavior of Jaren Ward. His mannerisms are much closer to the shooter, Dregden Yor. Everything I've read suggests that Yor used to be Ward.

The Dresden Yor part is partially correct. He however did not kill Jaren Ward or his apprentice.

5 Respuestas[Theory] The traveler is manmade, first constructed billions, maybe even trillions of years ago by a now extinct race of humans. The Darkness is a natural phenomenon that acts as a balance of power, working to keep all the races in check (Meaning maybe it's not entirely evil). The traveler's job is to return to Humanity once they have achieved a certain technological level. Perhaps reaching mars, because that's where we found it. The traveler might even BE a part of The Darkness, acting as a signal when a race needs culled. This cycle repeats endlessly, each time the Traveler returns to judge humanity among other races and determine if they have reached a certain level of competence, exterminating us in hopes that one day we will evolve into a better species, overcoming human natures such as greed and lust. But something has gone wrong, the traveler has stopped working. Why? [/endTheory]

I believe Yor was affected by the darkness, not his weapon. His weapon was then corrupted, by him. (As you stated)
