If there's one thing I like in video games, it's lore. Halo has a lot of lore and so does Destiny, although it isn't presented as well. Nevertheless I have been reading the Grimore and listening to the pointless things Peter Dinklebot says during the game, so in any case, fire away!
Edit: you guys are spamming me with questions! I can barely keep up. Keep posting and I will answer the best I can.
Edit 2: Xur is an agent of the nine who is tasked with (I think) bargaining with the guardians in the tower. I don't know who the Nine are
Edit 3: Rasputin is a warmind, a super powerful AI tasked with defending Earth. He spans many satellites and defense grids. But he has fallen dormant, and has been awakened by your guardian. The Hive breached his inner chamber, looking for questions, but your guardian stopped them.
Edit 4: Dregden Yor was a powerful guardian with a legendary hand cannon named Rose. He became corrupted by it, obsessed with protecting it from anyone. As the darkness was getting to him, he became even more deluded, and eventually shot the wielder of The Last Word for merely asking to see it. This was the final push over the edge and he finally turned to Darkness, his Rose becoming a Thorn.

24 RespuestasEditado por WesternSol: 1/5/2015 4:41:06 PMWhat do you think the time-frame of the game's initial lore is? I was playing through a daily mission called "The Archive", and at the end, Dinklebot mentions that inside the archive is information about a new location called "the vault of glass". In other words; You, the playable character, discover the VOG. Why is this important, and how does it allow us to estimate or judge the time frame of the initial lore? Well, lets consider what happens in the Vault of Glass before we are sent in. Kabr and his fireteam of 6 (including Pahanin) is sent in to scout out the Vault. They reach the gorgons, then get wrecked. Pahanin runs. Kabr kills a gorgon, uses it as armor, falls to atheon, and becomes the Ageis. The important piece of this puzzle is Pahanin, as he is tied to the most flushed-out storylines in the original lore (Thorn&TLW and VOG). What we know about Pahanin is this; He had a number of interesting quips (Look up octopus cloak & and theres 1 other i forgot) and we know some of his timeline Pahanin followed kabr into the vault of glass He ran after getting demolished by the gorgons Created SGA died to dregen yor (holder of Thorn) So whats Yor's timeline? Met Jared Grew up to be a guardian like Jared, and worked with him Jared Died. Dregen fell into the darkness & starts murdering hundreds of guardians in the crucible. Shin Malphur somehow acquires TLW Dregen Faces Pahanin in battle, and defeats him Shin defeats Dregen. What does this mean? Well it gives a very definitive time frame for the important parts of the main 2 lore sequences. The complete lore list (from the beginning of the game to the end) goes like this: Playable Character discovers Vault of glass Pahanin runs and escapes the Vault, Kabr falls to the vex Pahanin creates SGA to save himself from the gorgons Dregen Yor Kills pahanin Shin Malphur kills dregen yor Assuming that the first day of release, people hit the archive mission, then the timer for the time period between the first VoG expidition (led by kabr), and Pahanins death must be about a week, which is when we (the second VoG expidition) were allowed to go in and kill atheon off. BUT, we can go even further with this analysis since 3 exotics (TLW, Thorn, SGA) are entwined within the lore. The first people to acquire these weapons are the people who set the initial timeframe. The weapons set up slightly different timeframes. The first person to get SGA officially affirmed that Pahanin was dead, thus everything between the discovery of the vault and pahanins death had happened. And the first person to get either thorn OR TLW afirmed that Dregen was dead, meaning that everything in the 2 lore lines had already resolved. (TLW and Thorn are basically SGA + extra) What does this mean? Well... Idk. I'm asking you to tell your opinion and affirm or disprove the validity of these ideas. Certain things stood out to me. # 1, dam pahanin makes experimental guns fast #2, we don't know if Shin is dead yet. Comment plz. Edit #1: Also, if the time frame is as i have suggested, then it makes a lot of sense that the vault was released after a week of the game being out. I.E. The scouting mission by Kabr and Pahanin took a few days, so a week is a good time period between the initial discovery, scouting, and final intel gain before kill squad is sent in.

10 RespuestasEditado por JmanMousey: 1/6/2015 3:53:14 AMI'd settle with just knowing what the heck some of these missions were about, even ones that seemed to be straight forward: Mission: A Stranger's Call Prelude, this dialogue appears when linking the sparrow: "There's a lot here about some war machines called the Vex. Indestructible, relentless, supremely intelligent. And they can teleport. Great." "Detecting Vex... like we're surrounded." "No, no, no, no, no! It's the Vex! Better find some cover!" Then after the player kills the waves: "What are these things? Are there any still intact that I can analyze?" Q1: Are 'these' referring to the vex? It seemed to me like the ghost knew what the vex was seeing as how it just stated their capabilities and detected them. When inspecting the conflux the dialogue: "Fascinating. A conflux of non-baryonic streams going... where?" Q2: Where is 'where?' ? When talking to the stranger: "Many Guardians fell. Strong ones. But you made it here. (to comms) Yes, I'm listening. They are here with me." Q3: Guardians fell? Where? When? Which guardians? What event is this stranger talking about ?!?!?! Mission: A World's Grave "There's got to be a way to find out what the Hive are planning. That Ghost we recovered found a library in the fortress called The World's Grave. It's said to hold everything they know of Earth. If you can get us down there, I'll steal all I can." At end of mission: " Okay, I've got it all. There is unbelievable stuff in here. The Hive have seen thousands of worlds taken by The Darkness, and they've been seeding Earth for centuries, waiting for their gods to return. I'll warn The City. Let's get out of here." Q1: What exactly does the hive want with earth ? Cliche bad guys? They have seen THOUSANDS of worlds taken by the darkness, are they wanting to help earth ? What did the library say about earth, which was the whole point of the mission. Is the darkness a separate faction? Who was at earth first? fallen or hive? Mission: The Sword of Crota "The Sword is gone. They say that was one of the most powerful weapons the Hive ever wielded against us. The Cryptarchs won't believe this." Q1: If the sword was destroyed, what is the deal with crota then ? Made a new one? Ah, who am I kidding. The whole transcript is riddled with unanswered pronouns and oddities. Q: Who were the Binary Star faction ? Q: What were the psion flayers trying to hack ? Why? I think there was a reference to the Warmind of Mars. But rasputin is the warming of earth. And also the last one. So are the other war minds actually gone? Or do they all still remain? "The Vex are returning home. Something is calling them back to the Black Garden." Q: What is the something?!? "Here's what we have on Gate Lords: "Three stories tall. Protect the realms the Vex keep locked out of time." Time? That can't be right." Q: Ok so what is the random reference to time about ?! Vex can time travel too? or just a nod at some pop sic fi? I believe in the first mission: "The Fallen have a tighter hold on this place than I thought. Something – or someone – must be driving them" Who is the something or someone?!? Mission: shrine of oryx "Every schism... It can not be stopped but here it can be slowed" What can be slowed? The hive? Oryx? Darkness? And why were the fallen invading the hell mouth to begin with? Just because? Who was Osiris? Why aren't these people mentioned ever or seen in the tower? "The Cosmodrome. I remember this place…" Really?!?! Because I don't, what was the cosmodrome? Some old world place that doesn't really need explaining? like the somethings, or the wheres, or the somebody's? Mission: Devil's Lair "The Fallen are getting smarter. It's like the entire system is wired to a..." A WHAT?!?!?!? Does it matter? Why even mention it ?!?! A story would help if it TOLD us pretty much, what was happening. Imagine if this was how moby dick started: "Call me somebody. Some time ago- never mind how long precisely- having little or no money in my purse, and nothing particular to interest me on shore, I thought I would go somewhere. It is a way I have of driving off gut feelings."
