"So, you can't play the Nightfall. Boo hoo. If you want to play the DLC, go buy the DLC. Quit begging for free content."
To those who agree with the above statement, understand this:
Those who chose not to purchase the expansion, whether it be for financial reasons or not, are temporarily restricted from accessing a game feature that they paid for with the base game. They are not asking for any DLC content whatsoever, they are simply asking for the content that they previously paid for to be made available to them.
I don't imagine it would be exceedingly difficult for them to implement an alternate Nightfall and Weekly Heroic for those without the DLC. If they can create a compromise system for Crucible maps (which they have), they can surely sort out the weekly Vangaurd activities.
So the next time you DLC-ers begin typing your response to those without the expansion, understand their point of view. They simply want access to a feature that they paid for with the base game.
Edit: This post is not discussing Bungie's moral or legal justification for altering their game's features. This post was intended to help DLC owners understand why this is an issue for those who don't have the expansion. Its as simple as that.
Good day to you all. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to play the Halo 5 beta.

4 RespuestasIt's not end game content for base game anymore and it's one week they have to live without it, oh nooooooo!

48 RespuestasEditado por MAD X H0USE: 12/31/2014 2:01:29 PMI only have a problem with one phrase...
a game feature that they paid for
Everyone is still getting what they originally paid for. People keep referring to the Weekly/Daily playlists as "content" when in fact, they are just a content delivery system. The icon you see in your director is nothing more than a link/portal/shortcut to the server that generates the modified strike/mission activities. The playlists are still there. The vanilla strikes and missions are still there. The rewards are still there. You're just going to have to spend your time elsewhere to earn them. Is it inconvenient? Sure. Is it truly "blocking" anything? Not the way I see it, and certainly not long enough to warrant this level of bitching from the community. The expansion was a global addition to all platforms. It is readily available to all players on all consoles, and as such, eligible for rotation in the Weekly/Daily playlists just like the vanilla content, as it should be. It's unfortunate that non DLC purchasers miss out on the Heroic Weekly and Nightfall activities, but that's the price you pay for not paying the price. =/ Just like in the everyday world, paying customers take top priority. You can get with the program and fly first-class, or you can continue to fly coach. But don't get mad when first-class flyers are laying back, being served filet mignon with champagne in crystal glasses while you're knocking elbows with the guy next to you, trying to peel open a Lunchable and stab your juicebox with a bendy straw. They paid extra for that luxury, and you didn't. Are you going to get thrown off the plane for buying a coach ticket? Of course not. But you need to accept that there are some things that first-class gets that the rest of us don't.
Please note, I don't mean "You" personally, but non-DLC purchasers.
Don't get me wrong, I understand the complaint, and under normal circumstances I may even be sympathetic. In this particular case however, I just don't care. Before launch, it was made clear hundreds of times that there were going to be Expansions. That's at least 4 months from the time of the Beta for people to plan and save. Sure I can understand people being upset by a lack of content or whatever their excuse is for not buying the expansions, but how can they seriously expect Bungie to continue to support their gaming experience, if they can't continue to support the development of the Franchise? And why in the world would they continue playing a game they claim to be dissatisfied with?
While you clearly stated that Bungie's legal rights were not up for discussion, the simple fact is if people had taken the time to read the terms that they agreed to, twice, then they would know they have no right to be upset. Of course, your emotions are yours and you can feel whatever you want, but don't expect your feelings to influence their business decisions. They're only interested in return customers. As far as they can assume, customers not purchasing expansion #1 are unlikely to purchase #2 as well as any future sequels, etc. So since these customers aren't generating any profits, their wants become secondary to those return customers.
I could go on, but I've replied to so many of these posts that it's getting tiresome. lol I welcome any thoughtful attempts to continue discussion. Debating is fun, Trolls are not. TL;DR: Just buy the damn Expansion if you want your Weeklies back. Your tears are none of mine nor Bungie's, and certainly not Activision's concern.

19 RespuestasI have the dlc and it's still bullshit.

I agree with the homies without the DLC. Why pull the rug out from under them like that?
-
Good don't come back we are sick of all these related posts.

7 RespuestasWe know your point of view but where the whiners don't know is that weekly and daily events aren't part of the base game...it's like owning a car but having the privilege to drive it; it can be taken away at any time and has...so either renew your liscense or deal with it
-
I mostly agree. Daily/Weekly/Nightfall/Events/Xur are all part of the original game so why restrict access to TDB only? The game checks installed content when you start it why not have separate lists?

4 RespuestasEditado por xX SOLFIRE Xx: 1/3/2015 9:19:07 AMYes it is lame but as a business would you prefer to cater to the people who are still paying you, or the people who only payed once? Also if they were to add in the stuff for you non dlc owners then the dlc owners should get to do two nightfalls per character when it is dlc. One for your strike and one for ours... makes sense right? Also people should really stop comparing destiny dlc to shit like CoD. If you wanna compare destiny to something i suggest using borderlands as an example when it comes to dlc because they had a good base game with a good dlc as well for a very good price
-
Completely agree

Hows that h5 beta? The footage looks awesome!

You're a smart man

2 RespuestasEveryone who bought this game agreed that they were purchasing essentially an evolving product. New features are added, scrapped, revised, etc. throughout the product's life. So yes, now the dlc missions and strikes become part of the routine weekly strikes and nightfalls. But bungie had also given everyone, dlc or no, access to free additional content not available at release (such as iron banner). So what's the issue?
-
5 RespuestasHow can people still defend this shit? I bought the season pass and I was outraged that people that didn't purchase the DLC wouldn't get to play the Nightfall or Heroic certain weeks. I'M NOT SAYING THAT I'M MAD THEY CAN'T PLAY THE NEW STRIKE(just had to clear that up for some of you dense -blam!-ers). I'm mad because there's not a Nightfall for non DLC owners. I mean would be it that goddamn difficult to set a different strike with the same modifiers as the DLC nightfall?
-
4 RespuestasThanks, I have the DLC and I see the same thing you do. I have the pass. It was not only a crappy thing to do, not having a separate strike for Nightfall or weekly. It was a bad business decision. We know that, the reviewers know that. They stated it in their review of the DLC. Who would buy this game knowing that content will be locked out when the DLC strikes are up. There is another DLC? More lock outs? It does not look good for the resale value of the original game. It's short to begin with. This is just more the reason for me to not buy another Bungie or Activision product again. Sad.

39 RespuestasIf you didn't recieve 20 bucks on this xmas that you can spend on this DLC then you should be out working to pay for it and not be on these forums.
-
Stop comparing it to cod dlc packs. When you dont buy a cod dlc pack you dont all of a sudden just miss out on being able to do stuff you could origanlly do before the dlc
-
1 RespuestaWhen non mmo/progression gamers play long-term progression games...
-
1 RespuestaYou do realize that if they implemented another Nightfall with only non-DLC strikes, then people would complain about only having 1, while DLC purchasers get 2.
-
I am sucking at the beta, enjoying it but sucking, so if you see me there stand real still and give me a chance..
-
Realize a few things. The dlc is an expansion. We all know what the word expansion means. Obviously at some point in time the new content has to rotate into daily/weekly events. You still have everything you paid $60 for dlc players just have everything they paid the extra $20 for. Besides you miss out 1 week of gear/material you will probably complain about and a few days.
-
They should offer a non dlc nightfall/weekly. With that said, if you play this game everyday and can't scrape up $35 for 2 expansions there is a problem there as well. On cod, map packs are $15 for what 3 multiplayer maps, maybe a new gun? Dlc isn't new and no one has to buy it but if you play this game, why wouldn't you?
