Think about it: Before the dark below patch the only way to get to level 30 was by getting light 30 gear, therefore you needed to do raids or getting it via Iron Banner, which was hard to do. When the patch came out, bungie -blam!-ed all that hard work level thirties did by making it easier to get to level 30-31 by upgrading the vendors (to sell higher light gear). Leading to old thirties to throw away their hard earned gear just to replace it with the new fancy gear. This is what I'll do: Wait until the next DLC comes out, when the level cap increases and the vendors well, sell higher light gear, getting me to level 32 and that is the only time when I will level up all of my characters.
