All I hear is people complaining about how the new DLC makes everything completely useless, you've obviously never played WoW. Raid gear in WoW is made useless by average gear after every expansion, even heroic raid drops can be beat by new quest reward. That's how endgame works. I don't see how people expect a game to progress when you want the level cap to stick to its original standard and weapons and armor to be their standard as well. Games change, weapons get better, and things become worthless, just be happy they made exotics upgradable(never happens in WoW) and that we're not paying for a monthly subscription to play Destiny.
Edit: 100 comments in 30 minutes. Damn, you guys feel really strongly about this, and to those saying WoW is a bad comparison for FPS reason, I never played other MMOFPS's so I can't really give a valid opinion of those compared to destiny, but if you have please share in the comments.

Or vindictus, same concept but it's better then WoW :P may have smaller player base but it's definitely better. Oh and I'm not trying to use good grammar rn just typing cause I'm tired asf

The expansions in WoW weren't as common, there was a lot more time between them, so less people were mad about it cause they were bored of what they had
-
I never played wow
-
Having gear determine level is where they went wrong. Level should be exp based an all gear after that should only increase other stats.
-
I always wanted to play wow so be time I downloaded a 30 day trial it ran incredibly slow on my computer so I gave up. I kinda wished they would release a next gen version for consoles and when I heard about destiny I though this is guna be great. Sadly not. Still a good game though can't see it lasting the length of time wow has though.

As if not playing WoW somehow makes people's opinions invalid. . . I've never played WoW and most people I know who have are not the model of what I want to be.

That's because this is a MMORPGFPS. The first large and actually successful launch of one. But there is a distinct difference between WoW and Destiny. In 3rd person games, like WoW and DCUO, your next gear and weapons are just another of the same, but with a different shape, purpose, but they all play the same. One is no different than another, except aesthetics and stats. Not necessary for overcoming challenges. Now with first person and such a variety of weapons and gear, which could have been better by making a 1,000 different legendaries and exotics and only a handful of common and uncommon gear. With the first person perspective, our weapons became comfortable. They have a distinct feel, strengths and weakness that are in the feel of the game. Certain guns have better range and accuracy, hair triggers, and a variety of sights and target acquisition. It's not just target and spam like you would in WoW and similar games. You as the player have to actively target and fire. When you move, you move with your eyes, only seeing what you as a person would most likely see. 3rd person, it's all out there, 360 degree view. You can see an Emmy sneaking behind you. I think it caught Bungie by surprise, but they're doing well with the allowing us to upgrade exotics. Not to mention, some of these new guns perform well while others are poor in comparison. Many original legendaries, are being replaced by inferior weapons and only because they can cause more damage. Just enough where it makes a difference...

Yes wow is a grind but it is also a huge world and you can grind in many areas and in many ways to grind. You can't compare the two games wow is on a completely different level.
-
4 RespuestasYour point gets lost in the fact that gearing up after a WoW expansion involves grinding new areas and content. You gear up after a Destiny expansion by grinding the same shit you were grinding before the expansion.

I just commented to make the post have 666 comments.

2 RespuestasThere is a difference though... 1. The xpacs in wow come out very slowly... like a year or so. That way unhave a chance to really enjoy ur new gear, especially those heroic raid lootz. 2. In wow u can farm specific instances for that specific piece u need to truly maximize ur character. 3. In wow its not a pointless grind. U at least get tokens to get into kick ass gear from farming raids. Even if u don't get a drop, u get a token to eventually buy something u want. 4. In wow u can physically see better gear on other toons... that way u can stand out visually for ur accomplishments. 5. Plus blizzard takes time to ensure no bugs r present on release, and swiftly fixes any that pop up. 6. Blizzard dominates bungie in game design, polish, and forward progress. 7. Destiny is fun, but nothing as epic as promised. Especially for hardcore wow players.

Yes but wow has like 8 bosses a raid and it's hard to get gear. Plus expansions are huge not just a few new things to justify a level cap increase.

17 Respuestasas someone who has played played wow since day 1 i wish you -blam!-ing tools would stop comparing destiny to wow cause destiny is nothing alike

I have a Lvl80 in WoW that I haven't touched since I got to 80 lol The biggest difference, time span. WoW was years between times when gear become obsolete. Destiny was 3 months.... I also feel I grind harder in Destiny then I ever did in WoW. There are just so many materials, with WoW it was more limited depending on class and load outs. Destiny it's so random with weapon and armor perks that you have to grind everything. I still love Destiny due to the social play aspect with friends.

1 RespuestaEditado por Roughneck: 12/17/2014 3:25:02 AMSorry, but this is not WoW and I for one prefer the "traditional" MMORPG way of leveling and gearing than what Destiny has going on. Plus, the one thing that Bungie has copied from WoW (dailies) is actually the thing that ended up driving me away from WoW. Sorry, but I get enough daily taskers at work. I don't need my entertainment time gaming to feel like a job. Who in their right mind would build 90% of a game's content on dailies?!

1 RespuestaWOW also didn't take all your gear you spend hours and hours on then make it moot 3 months into the game by giving vendors better gear than raid gear. Selling better gear than raid gear then asking everybody to re level the same top teir weapons again is not a proper endgame its a cheap way to try and keep people playing while adding minimal content. Wow expansions actually added new stuff, new areas, new characters, new things to kill. Destiny "expansions" adds new gear, one new raid and makes you re play teh same missions areas and kill the same things... Nice try on the comparison though, 8 for effort, 1 for execution.

Nah I've never played wow and last time I checked I didn't buy wow I bought destony

6 Respuestaswe need to play WoW to play Destiny? Last time I checked they are nothing alike unless you count their game genres (mmo)
-
For all those saying this isn't a valid comparison because destiny is a shooter, think on this for a moment. Cod drops Dlc that only contains maybe 4 maps and if your really lucky, one new gun and some meaningless camo's. The only thing bungie screwed up was calling the Dlc an "expansion".

Editado por FIRE WRAITH 01: 12/17/2014 6:19:19 AMI also tried explaining this in another thread a while ago. Obviously common sense isn't so common anymore.

2 RespuestasI believe they, like myself, were hoping for a little more from destiny than a shitty, decade-old game model... "Become Legend" =/= "Grind for the same six useful items every few months" I tanked with Lammies for 5 expansions in EQ1, an ancient system with skills based on the character instead of the gear... Same with my skysteel-wielding warrior in Skyrim. This is next gen here, or at least it's supposed to be... Let the Warcraft guys have their top-tier raid gear every few months, but let us sentimental old fools run the gear we like, in the style we like. Sprinkling powdered sugar over a turd doesn't make it a brownie. .... I would rather have a real brownie, personally.

1 RespuestaWoW was great. I played for a year. Seemingly endless grind that was actually decently challenging. Raid mechanics were awesome and definitely tests peoples skill. I ended up quitting when MOP came out because I didn't want to restart my full year of hard work in the Raids and Battlegrounds. Having my top tier pvp and pve gear become obsolete was saddening to say the least. With destiny the grind is short and much easier. I have no idea why people complain. This is how these types of games work.
