Well, I think the most used/best exotics are obviously Vex,Icebreaker,Gjallahorn and Suros.
Then there's the exotics there are okay but have better alternatives Thorn,Truth,Patience and Time,Hardlight and TLW.
And then exotics which are just awful Red Death,Bad Juju,Super Good Advice and Universal Remote.
Finally exotics that are only being used because the player has a fetish for them/literally has no others Plan C,Thunderlord,Invective,MIDA and Pocket Infinity.
Up until the DLC I wanted the Gjallahorn, but now I have the legendary Crota's end it seems futile and I couldn't care less for it.Same for the praxic, I'll have to have the exotic helm equipped to reach 32, so even if I had it I wouldn't wear it.
Armour I'm not too sure, it comes down to you kind of see the best stuff more often because you know why wouldn't you wear it? So I see lots of helm saint 14s,praxic and achpholiage symbionite (or however it's damn spelt). I think the skull fort and skull of dire ahamkara are pretty rare but that will change when xur sells them!
But you have to remember just because an exotic isn't so good therefore it doesn't get worn doesn't make it rare, nor does wearing a good exotic because nearly everyone else owning it will wear it.
And it's too early to tell what's rare with the new exotics, give it 2 weeks and we shall see- but just like pre DLC the rarest/best exotic will be whatever you get for beating Crota on hard.

You cannot tell me that Patience and Time was good in Year 1. The cloak was about the only half decent thing about that god awful gun

Thunderlord and Pocket Infinity under the "fetish/no better" category? Lmao clearly you don't play crucible. Pocket Infinity -blam!-s in crucible, and I've been on a 28 kill streak with Thunderlord. I was never outmatched using it in Iron Banner, either.

I have two new DLC sniper rifle that are doing quite a lot actually. God knows what they are called, but they do almost the same amount of damage to the Oversoul in Crotas End, off by about 100. The damage between a Hunger and Gjallahorn is much bigger. As for a main weapon, I just roll Fatebringer right now or one of the plethora of new DLC Assault Rifles I've gotten.

I've always used Scout Rifles no matter what. That increased RoF on Mida is ridiculous in pvp.
