Radiant Materials are too much of a bottleneck
I've said this once and I'm saying it again, hitting lvl 32 is going to take [i]forever[/i].
Levelling up Crota gear takes ~21 shards per piece. Assuming you get an exotic as a fourth piece, that's ~63 shards to hit lvl 32.
Crota only has three loot drops, one pretty much guaranteed chest and another chest that is hard to get. So for most of us, that means 3 drops and a chest. Compare that to the Vault that had 3 chests, and 4 drops. Even with that many drops and other ways to get ascendant mats, it still took a while to get the mats to hit 30. Crota has one less drop and one less chest with no supplemental way to get Radiant mats.
Best case you get 2 Radiant Shards from every drop and chest after getting three pieces of gear. That means 4 the first run and 10 every run after that. Meaning we won't get enough mats to hit 32 unless we run the Raid every week for six weeks getting only Radiant Shards. That is BEST CASE.
More likely, is that you get a mix of Shards and Energy along with not always getting the difficult chest and probably not beating Crota the first attempt or two. This pushes the realistic scenario of hitting 32 back to more like 10-12 weeks, or 3 months of raiding every week.
Not a fan. There need to be other ways to gain Radiant Materials.

3 RespuestasCorrect me if im wrong, but when i got raid armor i got mats as well, so that, plus the trade in with eris, and 3 characters to support one, you can expect to see 32s within a week or 2

at the rate im going i will be level 32 by week 3. Right now i have the gloves fully upgraded and the boots have one upgrade that involves the shards. As long as you do the raid on 3 characters and you dismantle and dups you get it can be done before hard raid comes out.

3 RespuestasIf they increases the drop rate of armor like they said they were going to, you can dismantle dupes.. That will speed the process.

When the hard raid comes out you be able to accumulate them faster. HOWEVER, by the look of it only 32s will actually be able to do the hard raid.

I've already maxed out my raid boots for my titan.... 2 more weeks and hopefully I'll have enough mats. Also got the Glasshouse titan exotic from an engram this morning. Curious how much buff weapons/blessing of light receive.

"I got 4 shards, OMG I can finally finish upgrading my chest piece!" "Dammit I got this dumb exotic weapon, I wanted materials!" It's not a huge issue. I may not hit 32 by the time the next DLC comes, but at least now I am not going to be mad every time I don't get a certain armor. I only play on 1 character so it really sucks for me.

This whole game is one giant bottleneck on top of mini bottlenecks. No more material farming. Weeee here's 20 more things to farm and while your at it regrind your weapons and armor you spent months working on. I forgot "Only hardcore ppl enjoy the grind. Stop crying bc Im smart, and smart ppl love doing the same sbit they already did 40 more times and paying to do it". #zombieapocalypse

4 RespuestasI have my gloves maxed already, and i have yet to beat crota. That means on top of the gloves drop I've recieved 21 shards in 3 days(+ 2 more unused shard). And that's not counting my 11 energy that I can trade for more shards at Eris. And still have a loot checkpoint on all 3 of my characters. So I've recieved 34 radiant materials so far. At this rate if I get lucky with a Chest and boots I'll be 32 by next week.

1 RespuestaNot at all. I ran the raid with a guy who got 3 pieces of armour out of 3 drops. I got only shards so with the old system he would be 32 after one raid whereas i could crash my ps4. With the new system he has to run again and again and again and again to upgrade them.

First, find all raid gear parts, level them up and then bother.

5 RespuestasYou can trade your energies in for shards so that way you have more. I have 6 energies and 4 shards as soon as my rank 4 I'm trading my energies for shards.

Agreed. Got the warlock boots but without any more radiant shards (only had 7) it's stuck at the same light level as my VoG gear. Also any point in radiant energy right now? I have 8 and I wish those were shards instead.

1 RespuestaYou can trade unwanted radiant energy to Eris for radiant shards at lvl 4. It will take time but that seems to be a way to help.
