Why TDB ruined Destiny for all dedicated gamers

Dear Bungie and Forums, I'm going to explain why the first DLC -blam!-ed up Destiny for me and all of my friends. We played the beta and since day one, we were all super excited and had lots of fun and made a lot new contacts while playing the first three months. We played the Vault of Glass, without help and exploiting. Got our own tactics and theories and we spent so much time in getting the full raid set... Far too much time as it seems. I got in over 30 runs (i deleted two of my chars and played new ones) with all chests a total amount of 4 set pieces. I upgraded a lot of exotic and legendary weapons and armors. Our whole team was so excited about getting the hard raid stuff like helm and VM that we didnt stop playing, no matter what it took because we thought we will need it in the first DLC. Yeah, Destiny was fun. It WAS. What is the logic, that all people who wasted all their time in the Raid are now fooled because you can BUY better gear instantly ? Why are all the Exotic weapons I loved and used now worse than my unused because I have to upgrade them again and wasted all the materials on it? Why cant the ones we fully ugraded pre DLC be upgraded automaticly without Xûr? You upgrade the Vex Mythoclast to the highest damage just to make it the one iwth the least one week later? I personally love everything you put into the game. The weapons are nice, the armors look neat. The PVP maps are awesome and the new Raid too. But sincerely.... What about I use the next to weeks to get the max amount of commendation and coins for Vanguard and Crucible with all characters - abandond Destiny for three months and when I log back in with the next DLC I'll be instantly better equipped than all the people who played it this time... ...This is just ridiculous. It is nice for all the casual gamers and, as it seems for all that kind of people you (Bungie) aim up too. We others are kicked in the ass by your gear resets and if this will happen with every DLC you will ruin that game totally just like Ubisoft with AC. Bungie... You created a excellent shooter with a GREAT design, an awesome universe and perfect mechanics. Why ruin that? Gear resets? Okay. But not every 3 months! New armor to buy? Okay. But not BETTER than the last raidgear! I can only speak for myself and everyone i know. But we are going to play Destiny a LOT different from now on. We named our Clan out of fun "Almost Casual" and now where going to play like that. Casual. I would have loved if I had now the same experience and motivation with the DLC as with the original game. I bought your Season Pass and im going to play your two DLC's. But if you keep your system like this, I'll be out after that. Cheers.

  • Ok cool just leave now so others and myself don't need to constantly have to stumble across complaints all over the forums. Just delete Destiny off your console if you bought the digital copy, unsubscribe to Bungie/Destiny. Destroy your disc copy and never post on this forum again. Goodbye my friend, sorry Bungie/Destiny disappointed you and made you waste your money on a game that you initially enjoyed but don't enjoy anymore.

  • You want level 32, gotta run the raid... If you're fine with only level 31, buy the new Vanguard/Crucible gear... It's a video game, not your entire life... Or at least it shouldn't be...

  • The reason, in my opinion, that they made it so that level 31 gear could be bought is so that everyone (well those that bought DLC) are capable of enjoying the new raid. Some people, including me until a few weeks ago, were locked away from 30 due to horrendous RNG. Something I believe should not even be a thing within the raids. However, buyable gear allows for those who have completed the raid just as much as anybody else and yet received far less to still reach 30. Also think about those first time players that will be coming in after or on Christmas Day. Do you really think they would want to play if they knew that upon reaching 20 they only had a sliver of a chance of obtaining 30? Thus preventing them from running hard mode VoG or Crota's raid. I for one would not. Buyable gear allows those players to jump straight into the gameplay.

Everyone should love this: we were all complaining about how guardians looked the same. Now there are 3 paths to level 30/31. One for PvP, PvE, and Raids. In my opinion, raiding to get to 30 is the funnest route and I was 30 for a while. When the DLC dropped, I traded in my raid gear for vanguard armor, and now I finally feel unique. This game needed other ways to get to 30/31. Especially for PvP so they could stay competitive in Iron Bananer.

      • I agree with what he's saying. At the very least the raid gear should be equivalent to the vendor purchased. That said most of the raid gear came from normal VoG. The progression stair case in destiny also offers an elevator which is silly. Before you jump on the "get casual" or "get a life" band wagon defense. There is a section of the gaming community that enjoys playing challenging stuff like progressing through raids. And without this section of community driving the industry in which you enjoy casually, you would be stuck watching re-runs of NCIS.

Bungie buffed the Vex M to 323, the new max is 333 - hopefully Xur brings it around so that I can use it in Croat's hard raid...'cause its gonna suck if I can't....unless I can get the new AR, of course!

        • Play any game with gear progression and this is how it is. It doesn't change and Bungie isn't out to get you. Just get use to it.

        • You're right. It's really shitty how you spend so much time running the raid, and then now all of the stuff you get from it is completely useless. I wish they stuck with their original intentions of making the Dark Below raid level 28 or at least 29. That would mean there was a purpose to the original raid. I've already gotten rid of all my raid gear.

        • Bungie dick riders will disagree... "Bungie does no wrong, tells no lies, and knows what we want, and what we want is recycled content and thats what TDB is. We also don't want a community of people who disagree with Bungie!" Taken from a Desticle

        • We moved to a new tier. Your old gear is going to be useful for a few weeks and then be obsolete. You said you had fun the first go around, why not the second? It is a casual friendly game. They can't really leave the casuals too far behind or they'd quit. If they quit, Bungie would lose the vast majority of the players. You were playing on the bleeding edge, you should have seen this coming. I finally might agree with the "it's not an mmo" crowd. It's not, because the tiers are too close together and they're coming at you quarterly. It's a casual gear grind with some hardcore features for the better/more seasoned fps players. So, if you enjoy playing, keep playing. If not, stop and pick it back up when you feel like it again, it won't leave you behind. Lastly, don't save up current tier currency and expect it to buy you much in the next tier. They'll probably add another currency type at leach new tier to prevent people from getting too much on day one. Then again, had I not made a weird decision, I'd be 31 right now. But no, I decided to wait to see what Xûr is going to have for a helm upgrade (if any) and bought a weapon I'm not using instead... In hindsight, I should have got a dead orbit chest 2.0, the vanguard one is fugly.

              • Seriously, this is the worst DLC i ever experienced... -75% of the 'new' Story Missions and Strikes take place in Areas that already existed- -no new type of Enemies just Clones that look bit different -old Raid is worthless now, because it still drops 300atk/30 light exotics instead the new ones -raid gear from vog is worse than then buyable so there is no point in running the old raid which means there is still only 1 raid that is worth running it (the new one) -no trophies / achiements... seriously ? you lame basterds -new raid is way shorter than the old one *lol* this dlc is a big slap in the face, nothing more.

I hear the frustration but MMOs do this all the time. Not sure if you've played WoW or any others but everytime a new expansion and cap come out old gear is left behind and new gear comes out. It's just how it's done. Bungie at least implemented a way to get the exotics we like to the new cap. But yes I can totally understand why this would make someone upset. Also I hate this bs that casual gamers are somehow not as cool as hardcore gamers. Not all of us have 80 (Gross exaggeration) hours a week to dedicate to the game.

A dedicated player who doesn't seem to realise the simple concept of Destiny lol. I to have played the alpha, beta and I have grinded the VOG countless times to get the raid gear. Why? Because I wanted to get to level 30 to do the hard raid and jump straight into the next raid as soon as the DLC was released. There is no other reason why you would grind the VOG to get level 30 apart from wanting to do the raid on hard and iron banner possibly. Before DLC, you could buy gear to level to 29. One level below the cap. DLC comes out, you can now buy gear 1 level below the cap. Get the pattern?

                  • Bungie still don't realise how truly shortsighted this all is. Sure they're catering to casuals but they will drift away regardless. More serious though is that the method of gear reset deployed was a direct F U to the most dedicated and committed players. These are the ones who would have pledged their support for the next few years. Many will now leave. I really think, in say three weeks once people really start to see what's happened, this DLC will prove to be the death knell of Destiny.

lol welcome to MMO game(not saying destiny is a mmo) principles where gear gets obsolete. This is nothing new, it just keeps you on the harmster wheel chasing that carrot but never get to it. consider yourself lucky that exotics get a chanse to be better since that is not what happens in other games.
