I found this Reddit post today, and it astonished me that a community could be so supportive of a fellow Guardian that has lost something very dear to them. Faith in Humanity restored.
I also read a story about Gearbox (Borderlands) making a NPC in honor of a departed fan, and couldn't help but think that this should also happen in Destiny.
Note: DeeJ, this is not a petition, merely a piece of feedback that would probably make a lot of the community and this redditor's days.
I for one will be wearing a black Dead Orbit Mark today and tomorrow in honor of his passing.
Thank you for your time, and a Titan FoH salute to you all.
RIP BigBilly75
Edit 1: I would like to say thank you for all of your support for this great guardian and his comrades. The suggestions and support have astounded me even more. This is truly a community I can be proud to say I'm a part of.
Edit 2: I didn't actually know Billy. I simply stumbled upon the reddit post, and was deeply moved as to the support he was getting from total strangers. I simply created this post to ensure he, and the many others who have passed that have loved this game, are not forgotten by the community.
Edit 3: Commenting on here is great, and you guys have helped keep this trending all day for the community to see, but commenting on the reddit post would also be nice. The man who originally posted that thread is the one who is truly suffering the most.
Edit 4: To everybody that comes to this thread and posts 'nobody cares': Please don't. He was important because he was part of a huge family known as the Bungie.net community, and part of the #GamerMasterRace. We all known many people die everyday, but not everyday do you get to know someone you never knew, and it affected a lot of us. So please, if you don't care, don't post.
Edit 5: To everyone saying 'why does he need a memorial and not everyone else?': The suggestions that are being posted and I suggested would be for ALL fallen guardians.

Exodus translates to going out from Greek. How fitting. I will don my black cloak of the Exodus in memory of a fallen Guardian. B.B., I salute you.

Editado por Hooligantuan: 11/30/2014 10:06:34 PMWith respect to every gamer we have lost, and every gamer we have lost that we never hear about, we cannot and should not expect or hope game developers to try to include memorials or characters in their games to honor their lives. One of us dies every day. Maybe many more than just one of us. They could never keep up, even if they only honored the exemplars among us. They shouldn't, either. What Gearbox did for Michael was great - I can see not just Michael in him when I see him around Sanctuary, but other friends I've known and that have died over the years. But it is important to not take Gearbox's gesture as a precedent to advocate for the memory of everyone we lose and create a new sort of tension and add to the discomfort of a loss by inviting the game developers to participate in it. (That said, other games have installed War Memorials or Cemeteries and the like that list the names of the deceased, and that sort of plurality seems the best avenue if any avenue is to be tried.)

1 RespuestaTo all guardians, both in game and out, know that no matter if friendships and bonds are forged in cyber space or reality, they are meaningful. And know that a little bit of your light is left inside all those who fought beside you and called you friend. Your friend was a good man im aure and my best wishes to his family and friends. A loss is a loss, and i thank bungie for making a game avout bringing people together even if half of them are jerks about it.

RIP Bigbilly75, bump.
-
While it's sad for the family and friends of those that knew him, nothing needs to be inserted into the game. To think otherwise just demonstrates a misplaced sense of honor.
-
1 RespuestaI know some people have already suggested this but how about an exotic rocket launcher named BigBilly75, or something along those lines. The perks could be something like "when this gun is equipped, melee hits do more damage", or faster melee. Something like that. Just throwing out ideas. Just from the post it seemed like the guy liked to punch.
-
I'm glad you posted this man. It's happened to a lot of us.
-
People who are saying "what makes him so special vs the other people who have died?" Well I think it's because of the dedication he had to this game. He went out and bought a PS3 just so he could okay Destiny.

1 Respuesta11/28 Will be now known as Billy day. Everyone must wear a Dead Orbit cloak for Billy.

I will salute the tree every time i walk past in honor of all guardians who have fallen.
-
This community is growing and we appreciate DeeJ responding to this. I believe we should have something to memorate fallen guardians. Maybe even a separate room in the tower where every name is placed on the wall. Rest in peace Billy, you will never be forgotten.
-
This is so amazing that a community of gamers can come together to create such an awesome memorial for this player. In honor of this I will be changing my clan's clan tag to RBB (rip big billy) so if you see us. Feel free to fr or party up in his honor.
-
I saw a comment about making the tree in the tower the memorial, I like to sit underneath it already as it is.
-
rip in peace
-
It made me tear up reading the comments, and I don't ever tear up. I shall wear a dead orbit logo in support for a while as well.
-
I think Bungie did something for a Halo fan that passed away a few years ago so I don't see why they can't do the same now.

1 RespuestaMy brain died playing this game, I am now brain dead. This game became my life, the outside world was just a distraction and in return my grey matter just did not matter any more. Now I drool at the beauty of the scenery and get angry that I can not get to these place's. In Honour of my brain being dead, I request an Xbox 360 GT with Brain Dead in it's title. My faith in humanity will be restored, however my brain will still be dead and the out side world a distraction. Forgive me people, even this is distracting. Must. Get. Back. To. Destiny.
