If you're not 30 by the dlc you're bad.
I don't even want a 29 when I'm doing the raid on normal
All you need is 3 pieces and there is no excuse for not being 30 by then, you get 2 chances a week with normal plus hard and can make it 6 by having multiple characters. Game will have been out 3 months by then.

For a game to take off the way Bungie and Activision hope, they need more than just a hardcore fanbase; they need casual players who feel like this is a welcoming experience. You know what casuals see when they read posts like this? They see indications that the community is elitist and exclusive, and feel like they're being reprimanded for not keeping up. There are dozens of reasons why someone might not have reached level 30. They could be bored with the repetitious nature of the game. They might have busy lives and not a lot of time. They might not have any friends who play. And so on. It's not always about skill.

My friend has been doing the raid every week since the game came out and he has one piece of raid gear. By your logic he sucks cuz he's not 30. Is he suppose to hack the game to get his gear? I'm just not sure what you expect people to do when they are subject to a horrid RNG system.

I did manage to get my Titan to level 30, the chest armor I needed dropped during a hard raid. My Warlock and especially my Hunter haven't been so lucky. Boots for my lock just don't wanna drop and maybe 4-5 Raid runs as my Hunter and still no raid gear. :/ Ran the raid three times yesterday. Got nothing but shards/energy throughout the entire raid for all three characters. I can't wait until Far Cry 4 and LBP3 arrive to pull me away from Destiny.

Been doing the raid since week one, on multiple warlcoks, including many hard raids. The boots just won't drop, I've gotten to the point I simply gave up because a LOT of hard work/effort has been rewarded with nothing but ascended materials (yay I have over 200 of both cause of the raid) So not I won't be lv 30 because I'm "bad" I'm not getting to lv 30 because the destiny loot system is bad.

I've done the raid on normal and hard since probably the second or third week of the raid being out. I haven't got my damn boots. 30 is just luck. Just like that god damned sparrow..

All you need is five other players you can get along with, two hours, no distractions, and gear that can get you there, the ability to use the relic. A connection, zoo animals leaving you alone, and actually giving a -blam!- about playing the raid. C'mon now get it together everyone.

LOL .... OP thinks skill and/or effort has anything to do with reaching lvl 30. RNG stands for Random Number Generator. You could play the Raid your whole life and not be guaranteed a single piece of raid armor. I've been pretty lucky with the raid and I only have two pieces of raid armor. I've played twice this week already and only gotten shards, energy, chatter whites, a mark and raid gloves that I already had. Random is just plain random.

I cant get armor drops to save my life out of the raid. And I run it twice with 2 char. How does that make me a bad player?

Not getting a drop doesn't make u bad it makes u unlucky, to give u an example of how little lvl matters in this game, the other day I started a new character an played the crucible at lvl 4 with nothing good on me, went even and second on the team.

I did 14 raids, half of those on hard mode, and my Hunter has yet to get raid boots. I'm stuck at lvl 29 until I get boots that have 30 light. How does being extremely unlucky mean I am bad? Of course my Warlock got a full set of raid gear after only 4 raids and she hit 30. Still, my main Guardian has been stuck at 29 for months due to horrible luck. (God bless Iron Banner, for adding boots that can have 30 light points)
