Are you Frackin kidding me?! They're working on Destiny 2 already?

Umm how about fixing this game first! WTF? Edit: building the game engine is what took bungie seven years to make this game. The next game will take nowhere near seven years so that argument is invalid. Bungie should be throwing everything they can at addressing the issues in this game FIRST! I would bet anything that Saturn, Titan and Old Chicago are playable areas in destiny 2 because they were already cut out of this game

  • Shut up man, if they start now it'll be close to ready in ten years. The development time for a game like this is immense. They want this game to be a ten year game and the next one will start shortly after that. Or maybe halfway through for a graphic update and larger game base. Now that the groundwork is here they are making patches and updates like crazy. It has more patches since launch than I can remember getting in any other console game. This game is fun, we're still playing and will be into 2024. The fixes will come. Have some patience. If you hate it so much, come back when whatever pisses you off gets patched.

Newsflash: developers work on sequels shortly after (sometimes even before) a game's release ALL THE TIME. Before people start flipping out LISTEN. The entire company is split up into smaller development teams—art, level design, scripting, voice acting, etc. A lot of these teams are sitting around twiddling their thumbs because some of those specific areas are ALREADY DONE for Destiny 1. So when they say that the sequel is being worked on, it's usually those idle teams who are being put to work on the sequel. TL;DR: Just because they've STARTED work on Destiny 2 concept art, music, or voice acting for the sequel doesn't mean Destiny 1 is dead and obsolete. You can breathe again. Relax.
According to Activision, Bungie has a Lord of the Rings-sized narrative in mind for Destiny.
This has got to be a joke. Lets see how many people actually buy the coming expansions. Maybe when they start losing money they'll actually begin fixing their game.

            • I just read a similar article at Gamespot. While I'm very disappointed that it seems they're going to wipe all their shortcomings under the rug with Destiny 1; put all the story, locations, and other features that should have been in this game in the second one instead, I can't say I'm surprised. It's a shame, really. I know Bungie most-likely went through some harsh events which lead to the game being released in its current state, but I feel they should at least make an attempt to right the ship before moving on to the next instalment. I really like the idea behind Destiny, but it's poorly executed and should have been delayed. I'll probably buy the DLC because I have one friend that plays with me. I hardly play anymore though, it's just so boring replaying the same missions over and over and over. I have no desire to reach level 30, primarily because I know there'll be absolutely nothing left to pursue then. At least by playing a half hour a day I can drag it out until December. The good thing is that since this game started at a low point, it can only get better. I'm confident Bungie will find their wings again and get it going. I've been a member of this community for over 7 years and I look forward to what they'll do in he future. TL;DR Disappointed they're making Destiny 2 when Destiny 1 is fundamentally incomplete.

              • Not really surprised. What does working on it mean though. Do they have a small five man team starting work on maximizing the engine for PS4 XB1. Or maybe a team working on grimoire cards lol. Honestly though I'm not to surprised bigger developers have teams that only work on building games not maintaining it. So it is completely possible that there is a group already working on it but you can believe it isn't even out of it granny gear as far as development is concerned.

              • Ten year game has only been out a month with 2 announced expansions and they are already talking destiny 2?????? If this becomes a yearly series I will not play it. CoD is the same game every single year, characters and weapons look different but it's the same damn game, if destiny becomes that way you can count me out

                • I'd honestly support a new game full development push if it gets Destiny of old gen systems. Conservatively, 75% of the missing content is likely a result of having a design specifications that needed to support the 360 and the PS3. I believe that if it was not for that 1 design requirement we'd all be looking at a vastly different and superior game. Am I upset about what was delivered vs what was presented over the years? Sure. Am I surprised? Not really. Developing for 1 additional platform triples complexity. Developing for 4 concurrently must of been a nightmare. Ultimately, the story needs a ton of love. They also need to increase customization of final appearance, and increase the amount of attachment (emotional) to the characters. The bones of a great game are undern3ath the skin if what we all have been enjoying the last couple months. Personally, I am going to give Bungie one year to step up and release items that help to flesh things out. Having said that, without a significant rewrite of the story and a discontinuance of legacy system support, I feel they are going to have a hell of a time keeping the Explorer and the Storyteller engaged. The Achiever and Perfectionist will stay with the game for a long time though. Thanks, S

Laughing at all the people who thought this ONE game was going to last ten years. Really? When in history has one video game spanned its life for almost ten years? Comeon. They said that because... Idk.. The contract they have with activision lasts *gasp* 10 years? I'm shocked as well. Id expect to hear about destiny 2 at e3 2016, not this early. Edit: typos fixed

                      • Of course they are, they know they messed this game up. Its to big a job to fix it.. so they will pump out DLC and make as much money as possible, then apply all the " fixes " and other stuff to number 2. So it looks a " better " game.

2 months after launch and they're already working on the sequel, despite a lack of content in what they've just put out. The gaming industry just makes me shake my head. Expect to see a Destiny sequel every two years. You know, like everyone's favourite FPS game?

                          • Above is the contract for between Activision and Bungie. It outlines the timetable for all content releases by page 2. Seems as though there will be one released every two years for now on, with the same DLC time table as COD (seasonal) and one "COMET Expansion" (Large DLC expansion) per game.

                          • You do realize that this game will increase upon itself, don't you? This won't be like Halo or other games that you put in Destiny 1 to play on Mars and Destiny 2 to play on new Saturn planet. ALL work on future content, whether DLC or full game is improving upon the game. Why would we NOT want them to work on Destiny 2?

                            • The reviewer assumes they mean Destiny 2, as in an entirely new game what they're talking about is the next full scale expansion. Destiny has a 10 year plan, meaning for the next 9-10 years they will release content for this game. They have to work on loads of new support including VR support when Sony releases its new VR tracking headset. Smaller DLC-like expansions will happen just like any other MMO, for new missions, strikes and raids. in the meantime development will be looking to tackle new challenges for development.
