What if you added a system where combining a mote of light with any armor piece added 1 to its light lvl (this would go for items that have no light as well)
We all want to look unique but with only 1 set of gear in excistance that will allow lvl 30 everyone looks the same.
Motes of light are not easy to get and spending 30 to get a piece of lightless gear maxed out would be no small decision. Please add this Bungie or something similar that would add extra value to not only lower lvl gear but also to motes of light.
Thank you, you have made an amazing game and I am so happy to see how much your working on improving it further.
Edit: I was clearly to generous in regards to motes/light level... I agree that a 5/1 ratio or 10/1 would be more acceptable.
Edit 2: excellent input from the community on this thread. A lot of folks are mentioning that motes tend to be to easily acquired... What if in tandem with the new system they add a new material? Possibly Shards of the Traveler? We know pieces of the Traveler exist, the hive had a big one and were stealing its light...
Edit 3: To avoid the issue of low level armor reaching a high light level with low level defense stats, all item stats could scale with the light level. The item could even actually increase in designation i.e. from rare to legendary etc.

2 RespuestasWe do have to "legendary" our rare sparrows by buying the drives from Xür in the first place. I would totally support getting say a cool rare armor such as the "Knight type series" for Titan and getting that to a +27 light legendary. I don't think it should go to 30? As annoying as it is that's all we have to look forward too. [yes I wish it wasn't RNG and there was a raid vendor I've only gotten boots once since the first raid] also someone posted below about ACTUAL customization and perk deciding for your armor. I mentioned somewhere before an NPC such as the enchanter in Diablo 3 who could take motes of light and "reroll" stats/perks on armor. Like redo +strength/discipline for intellect/discipline. Also being able to change that pulse ammo increase to something else as well. Just a few ideas tons of people have that should exist. Hopefully one day ;-;

Editado por Murphys_LawAbiding_Citizen: 11/5/2014 8:56:09 PMI would like to be able to scale up armor as is suggested. I have some rare level armor that I like the look of infinitely more than what I have now. If I could level it up to the same as that I have now, I'd be stoked. Plus, this would allow more diversity. How is one really getting to choose how they want to look if, in the end, everyone is trying to get the same armor in order to level up? We all wind up looking the same. If you want diversity, give people the option to level up what they have and like.

1 RespuestaSorry that's not how they wanted you to enjoy the game. In order to properly enjoy the game you just either play the same raid over and over or play PvP during a one time event.

4 RespuestasEditado por anthrax99: 11/4/2014 5:04:24 PMthe only alternative i see to this, if people dont like the idea of leveling up legendary gear to reach 30, is let us customize our raid gear once we have it. let us buy perks for it that we prefer from a vendor, the speaker maybe, that we have to level up like everything else. let us customize the look beyond shaders, with something like themes. hive theme like how the thorn gun has, bone theme like some of the other armor pieces, solar theme like the sunbreaker gauntlets, void theme, etc. this would give the raid gear some variety so every level 30 player doesnt look identical. give us the ability to reskin the raid armor essentially. i have no idea what to charge for these customs though, maybe something like 20-30 motes of light, an infusion of light, and buying a perk swaps it out for the included perk, so your armor cannot be over powered with too many perks. you would still have to choose wisely what works best for you.

I think it's a great idea. Raid armor still keeps its value because of their special upgrades like more ammo for heavies and specials, not just one specific weapon.

1 RespuestaI honestly would have liked that they raised the level limit, given more options of what the levels could do (eg. several supers to choose from or something), and not included your gear in your level. It's kinda funny when you can level a character up only to hit your vault and skip levels. What I would like to see with gear is a much wider variety that, if you put light into it, provided a range of bonuses against the darkness or permitted a restructuring for aesthetics. This would make sense as it's already in the Hunter background that they construct their gear from scavenged items. Why in the world can't we craft our own stuff?

1 RespuestaCould be a very good idea. Would need balancing of course. I find motes the easiest of the rare materials to come by and have very little use other than cosmetics purchases and exoctic engram.
-
Instead of the light to mote exchange rate of 1:1 just make it a logarithmic one 1-3. : 1 mote per light 3-6 : 3 mote per light 6-9 : 6 mote per light 9-12 : 9 mote per light Still with a level cap of 30. In this way people who are unlucky at RNG can still attain lvl 30. Currently your level is no indication of skill or progress. This conning from a lvl 30 Warlock who 3 pieces of raid armour in his 1st 2 incomplete raids
-
I can't see the downside, I mean your lower level gear is still going to have less perks an less base stats, a toon with all blues but leveled up to 30 via motes added would still be slightly less effective that someone with full raid and an exotic.

Bump. This is a great idea

2 RespuestasOr just add vanity slots. I see where your going with the light. But our defense would be nothing yet we have tons of light

Editado por PNK Ozymandius: 11/5/2014 4:00:28 PMHere is an idea..... How about there wasn't any free light level on any gear other than exotics (to set them apart from Legendary). Have everybody have to spend Motes of Light to add light level to ANY gear (except common). Granted have max's to light level. So uncommon, rare, legendary, & exotic can be upgraded. It would cost 1 mote of light per light level. Have ALL legendary & exotic gear have the same max light level. When levels are raised, just make the max light level for legendary & exotics go up. A way to implement this is any person who has legendary/exotic gear already they would be given enough motes of light to re level their gear. Or they can save them to level up a piece of gear they like the stats on better. A way to set apart legendary raid gear compared to normal legendary gear is to make them consistently have better (by 8-12) stats for intellect, discipline, & strength. Update: my suggestions for current max light level: uncommon: 10 Rare: 20 Legendary & Exotic: 30.

But then bungie would nerf it
-
Funny thing is, when I very first hit level 20 on a character and the way the motes of light were described, I thought they were actually used to add light to armor to level up them up.
-
I like this idea.

Bump bump bump bump

I thought this might have been the way it worked at one point.

Bump bump bump it up
-
Oh no I don't want this it seems like your to lazy to just get armour with light In it.lol
-
This would take care of the few gripes I actually have about the game, I can deal with the repetition and maybe the PVP imbalance... but what I can't deal with is how I dress my barbie!
