Exotic weapons and armor are not status symbols.
They are an integral part of the game's levelling system after level 20.
The only "status symbol" gear in the game is RAID GEAR. and the Mythoclast.

No they shouldn't. That's what the raid weapons are for. Because the raid weapons I've seen are better and more powerful than the exotics in the same category. Exotics simply exist to confer unique abilities that help with end game material and the raid on Normal.

I have to agree here mate I have three raid weapons at the moment and they do outshine some of the exotics I have in the same category as you say. Also agree with the point that raid gear is more a status symbol for than exotics and should remain that way too.

Agreed. I wonder what will the TS rant if Bungie implement his idea and he himself did not get exotic like now ? Bring back xur ?
