So, the update just went live. Atheon can no longer be pushed off his platform. He'll also select people at random to be thrown across time. He's a real bastard, eh?
I talked a lot to the developers about your opinions on the matter. You don't want to be selected at random. You want to choose who gets to fetch the Relic under fire from those nasty Oracles. I spoke on your behalf. Your voice was heard. We discussed your concerns.
I even said "Why not just change Hard Mode and leave Easy Mode alone?"
I was told "The Raid is never supposed to be easy."
At that point, I recalled all the times I stood and delivered the line "...the most challenging encounter we've ever created." It was hard to disagree. As a veteran of Cairo Station on Legendary in Halo, I had to admit that I had been carried through the Raid like luggage assigned to my clan. I did my own carrying later, but carrying had been done.
This is an activity that was designed to be undertaken by a hardcore team that is ready and willing to adapt and improvise to changing battle conditions. Like the moment when the Templar shields random players, the Final Boss was supposed to be extremely dangerous. While we've been working on some of the other things for which you've been asking (i.e. better exotics, voice chat in matchmaking, more bounties), the designers who made the Raid have plugged the holes that you showed them.
If you got in on the ground floor of this thing, we thank you. If you understand the mechanics for how to beat Atheon, it's still a thing you can teach your friends. If you're all up to the challenge, the Raid is waiting for you.

Please add a function to disable aim assist, adjust music/SFX volumes, broaden the look sensitivity, and add a function to adjust ADS sensitivity.

Personally the raid is fine as it is. My team is very well coordinated. We all have our roles and when it comes time to be thrown into the future or past, we all know what to do. However, not everyone has a full team. In which case being coordinated is a difficult task. So from their point of view I'll understand. Making the teleportation at random made the raid harder for those teams that found each other through the tower. On one note, I'd like to request a patch on the teleporters. When teleported to the future or past, guardians will kill the mobs and the oracles. Then they have to go through the teleporter to regroup with their fellow guardians. When this happens, sometimes you won't get teleported back, usually when when two people try going through at the same time. Please fix this.

Please change the Vex Mythoclas back to what it was before for PVE. We all want to enjoy playing raid with this weapon you know.

This update is terrible. Supposedly you fixed crashes... why is it that for the past month we have been able to do the raid no problem every Tuesday with the same people and never have crashes or kicks but now it happens every couple of minutes? Our guys all have good internet and have reset routers xbox's and the game several times. I am starting to lose faith in the dev team and their abilities to produce quality patches. I understand fully that there are bugs and everything but you need to test patches and make sure that they are the way they should be before you just throw it out there and have it fail horribly. For making all the money you did off this game it sure as heck feels like you guys really don't give a damn about the game. That is what is going to make you lose dedicated players like we are. Over 300 hours per player in our group on average, and we are the type of people willing to spend more money for good content constantly. Ten year game? Good luck when other games come out this year. DO YOUR JOBS or you will lose your fan basis.

I agree with the changes 100%. They've done nothing but make me a better player, given the fight a nice sense of danger, and have given me a real sense of accomplishment when Atheon goes down.

I do object those that have not been made, and that is Bungie failing to fix raid glitches working against raid teams. The other day, I have listened to an interview the Guardian Radio did with you. During that interview, you were stating that you at Bungie were proud of a game that makes millions of players log in and play everyday, meaning that you did something right with the game and that it has its good sides. You went on wondering what the exact success formula was that is making players continue to play this game. Here is the answer: It's the way Destiny triggers and deceives the reward system, and you know that damn well, because it has been devised and optimised that way by Bungie. I believe it's the part of the software the most diligence and thought has gone into. People keep logging in to get that last piece of armor they need, or the ascendent shards to upgrade that armor, or the energy to upgrade that exotic gun the RNG finally threw at them after them playing strike after strike and raid after raid for weeks (which is another element of the reward system abuse mechanisms built into Destiny). You also said that during your time as community manager you have seen almost everything and can hardly be surprised; So I guess you have already heard people calling you a hypocrite, and that's what I think you are, at least in your professional life. You probably are because you have to be. It's your job to pour oil on troubled waters. You are the advocate of the company employing you in the first place, much more than you are the advocate of the players you claim to be (and - that I concede - you probably also try to be to a degree). What you as the official spokesman of Bungie to the Destiny community fail to do is to give the community honest, detailled and also technical insight into what is going on with Destiny and what is being planned for it in the future. This concerns both large scale, long time plans like DLC, and big events and small scale stuff like e.g. increasing vault size or (my favorite) adding music volume controls to the game. You fail to give clear answers to why Bungie is obviously preferring PvE players in their weapon balance decisions, or why Bungie refuses to solve the weapon balance problem the only truly working way, and that is by introducing separate weapon stats modifiers for PvP and PvE. Why is that months after the game's release, people are still experiencing networking problems on a regular base (for me, they have even become significantly more frequent over time). Why don't you tell us that you had to hire a huge amount of software development newbies right from university to complement your core team of experts; Newbies who just aren't to the job of delivering something up to your big name? There are tons of oversights, flaws and bad design decisions in Destiny; Things that cannot just be explained by having to rush this game out the door just somehow, but only by being the product of people who lack the experience and knowledge to do better. It doesn't take anybody with an appropriate qualification (see below) long to notice that. Why is it that you at Bungie do not understand that your attempts to cover up the obvious are more embarassing and more harmful for your than admitting what everybody already knows and directly addressing the areas that need to and will be fixed, and how and when this is going to happen. Destiny doesn't need a patched up Iron Banner event the majority of its players aren't interested anyway. There are many more basic things Destiny desperately needs to be done first. You are a master in talking a lot and saying so little. You're a damn politician who claims he wouldn't talk people into believing everything would be nice and dandy with Destiny. Indeed, you don't. Not openly. You just give them a warm hug and send them back to the same crap afterwards. That's no better, that's just manipulation on a different level (the emotional one). I am a software project manager with a management training including motivational and communications psychology among others now. I have been contributing to and maintaining open source projects for over 15 years, including a 3D shooter game. I have a lot of life and professional experience to back my statements up. That I still love to play computer games doesn't invalidate that. I started as a board game player at the age of ten, played the most complicated board and play by mail strategic games at the age of 20, played my first console game at the age of 14, my first computer game at the age of 19, and I still love to do it like other people love to play Chess or Bridge. This letter will probably not change your or Bungie's attitude even a little bit - but you shall know that we are seeing through your attempts to cover up Bungie's constant failure in so many areas of this game and their community handling. Please also disable throwing Templar off, Never add matchmaking for Raid. not sending 3 randoms before were also seem to me a bug, it should have always been random. That way everyone gets learn to use relic. The no raid matchmaking forces people to interact and communicate with each other. Matchmaking will kill it. I have never talked, coordianted with the random guys I meet in strikes.. but when we form a group for Raid, we coordinate, interact, chat, talk, joke, etc etc. Please, on my 3 raids I got 3 chatterwhites, that sucks. I don't want it any more. If you can please fix it I will really apreciate, it seems like my GT is stuck with chatter white and energies. I even don't get shards anymore.

DeeJ. At first, like most people, I was upset about the random teleports. I thought it would preclude me from raiding since I had no idea how to use the relic, what "oracles" were, or what the raid even looked like. But, like many others, I advertised myself in a looking for group site and soon started the raid. I was nervous and it was super obvious that I was a noob. Entertained the others as I fell over and over again on the fading platforms. Thankfully, on Aetheon, someone else would always pick up the relic and after a few fails, I learned what oracles were and how I should deal with them. I listened and learned what buttons to use with the relic and after a few VOG runs I'm okay with using the relic myself. The point is, I was wrong. The random teleports did not make it harder for me to raid. I like the aspect of having to adjust, slightly, as the portals open and people are teleported. The only problem I have now is RNG luck. Chatterwhite is nice the first time, and so are shards. But after a few times, it gets old. I met you guys half way by playing it your way, could you adjust the RNG a little so that we don't get the exact same things over and over again? Looking at you chatterwhite. As a side note, if you aren't going to buff Thorn, could you slide over a Hawkmoon. I won't tell. Won't even mention how I got it. Besides, no one would believe me anyway.

I enjoy the random teleport now, I never grabbed the relic since we had a team mate dedicated to it so never learned. Now im getting pretty good with the thing its awesome to use!

At first I was not happy about hearing the changes to the teleporting system. On my normal group, we always had three dedicated for the away team and two solid relic holders. Now though the whole team is pretty proficient with the relic save for one. We waste no time just picking it up and whoever gets it gets it. So as far that part goes I'm glad it happened as it has made us a better team and we communicate much efficiently now. I will say, however, that the design of the three furthest to teleport does not seem like a bug to me. It is as if you guys seemed upset that the raid content was shorter or easier than you anticipated OR you must've thought players would never figure that little bit out. You'll clearly need to address the further issues caused by the fix and it may make things more bearable.

You do sloppy patching and don't tell us everything that has changed. Since day ONE people have been asking for matchmaking for the raid and in strike communication. Nothing has been done about these but apparently its a huge problem that Aethon can be cheesed off the cliff. I don't care that your developers said "the raid wasn't supposed to be easy" because it was never easy in the first place. Clearly if you can be swayed so easily to see their perspective we need someone else standing up for us. And clearly your developers have never actually played the Vault since they spend all their time updating that they're playing PS4 PVP. Playing with individuals who had never been to raid before or that were bringing other lower lever characters was something YOU said to do. It made it difficult and at times unlikely that you'd beat it. IF YOU NEED SOMEONE TO TALK TO THEM, YOU GIVE ME A CALL. I have a fantastic raid group but just like everyone else, once I find a group I'm sticking with them because they're the best I can find. None of this "meet new people, expand your friends list!" It's bullshit. And about my group, now that the raid has changed and we're adjusting everyone is able to handle the relic. Everyone is able to defend a synch plate by themselves. Have we been having much success? No. Unless we're extremely lucky, absolutely not. Many times we've been kicked for no reason (which your cute names don't explain anything), only one or two of us have been ported into the portals (which two we can handle, one we cannot) and many times we've found atheon's health bar going back up, him moving/shooting faster, and many times just not taking damage. You may be the biggest game right now but you also have the largest drop off rate in one month. Do you know why? Because of this, you DO NOT listen to consumers, you tell us how were doing wrong, why you're not going to listen to us, talk down to us and tell us "why you do the things you do". You handed us an underdeveloped game which had nothing that you actually promised. And now you're charging people more for what they already have on their disks. You should never have released this game, it just shows how sloppy and careless your developers are. Finally, I remind you all the money that Xbox and PS4 put into the game. Seems you're more than willing to take their money and put it into Destiny 2 but not willing to use the money for its intended purpose, giving us the game promised originally. I'm sick of doing the same things and you telling me you're "fixing" it when all you're doing is messing it up. I'm sick of being miss-represented by you to your developers. Learn how to talk to people and stand up for your consumers. This is becoming worse than politics. I'll take my 60 dollars back.

a lot of bugs and glitches in the raid after the patch.random deaths even after killing the oracles.getting reteleported right after you killed the oracles and just walked out,pratorian not taking damage in venus right after your ground pound and shield bash him 4 times.and the cleansing glitching and not working when its supposed to.

And on hard mode raid it gets very frustrating when those people get teleported and are unable to kill the oracles in time. Every player needs to have Atheon's Epilogue and\or Corrective Measure to kill the oracles without fail. The other thing is that on hard mode raid taking a shield as a player lower than level 30 is very dangerous because that player can easily get one shot killed by the adds in the portals. Many people, myself included, are still unable to reach level 30 even by having 3 characters and doing normal and hard mode raid each and every week, once again, because of the stupid RNG rewards. So if you're not gonna fix the RNG reward system in the raid so that players can only get the gear they're lacking, or can choose the rewards themselves, you've only added lots of frustration and rage quitting into the raid and that's it. Before the patch to counteract these two problems players used a strategy like sending only those people into the portals who had oracle killing weapons and at least 1 level 30 player to take the shield. Now you screwed everything up, Bungie, thx a lot (not). Some people in my clan and friends list are unable to beat the Atheon stage on hard just because they are lacking proper weapons. Also, 29th level shield bearer being bitch slapped by the Praetorian in the green portal even after it's shield is taken down and he's low on health is a common occurence now as well. So thanks for needlessly making us suffer some more on the hard mode raid, Bungie. Atheon stage completion is based more on luck than anything else now. If you don't want to return the teleportation mechanics to the way they used to be, fine, I'm getting used to the fact that every incoming patch only makes the game less fun to play. But can you, please, stop sitting on your hands and fix the bugs occuring in the raid at least? There are so many bs deaths that can occur in the raid beacuse of these bugs that they easily outweight any frustrations with the random teleportation. The list of bugs (whoever reads this - feel free to add yours): 1. Minotaurs\Praetorians insta regenerate (sometimes continuously) almost half of their health when you bring it low. 2. Sometimes only 2 people get teleported by the Atheon. 3. Getting killed by Atheon while standing inside the shield bearer's protective bubble (Nr. 1 cause of deaths on Atheon stage for my buddies) 4. Minotaurs\Praetorians not taking any damage from the shield bearer when they are stuck on a rock inside the green portal on Atheon's stage. 5. Sometimes players get teleported into the portals with detainment field around them.

Destiny is SOOO fun, yet so bad at the same time, please I beg you to talk to us about the real issues! What happened with the story? Why was it rewritten at the last second? Why is content already on the disc DLC? Why were we told that we could explore "all that" when in reality if you head towards the the distant mountains in old Russia you die? Why are you already working on sequel?! What happened to this game? Clearly it was going to be a master piece, because even in the state it's in right now it is still VERY fun imo. Talk to us! Did activision make you do it?

After doing the patched raid twice with my team, we really wish you'd fix the existing bugs. But beating Atheon without cheesing him still isn't a big deal with a good team that knows how to communicate.
