Thorn Bounty is a load of shit. How can you do it as a Hunter?
Before reading, please note that there will be fowl language. You've been warned.
Ok, so I recently got the Thorn Bounty on my Hunter class... We can all see where this is going. The Crucible section of this bounty is the biggest pile of shit if you don't have a void sub-class or any good void weapons. I've got a Void Sniper and a Void Assault Rifle. Seeing as Assault rifles have recently been nerfed, the thing's pretty much useless because of it's already low damage rate (considering I'm shooting the head not the body). The sniper is also difficult to use because there are no good spots on any map to really shoot from. And I haven't got any heavy void weapons. I'd be completely fine with this bounty if it weren't for the 2 point penalty upon dying. For some, that's probably fine, but I generally have a k/d ratio of around 0.47 so essentially, I take 1 step forward 2 steps back. This bounty is just plain unfair for those who aren't any good at Crucible or don't have good Void weapons. It's just plain stupid. I've read all different strategies and tried a bunch of them, but I keep getting thrown in games with spastic shotgunners, supreme snipers, maniac machine-gunners, assault-rifle wielding psychopaths and pyromaniacs with rocket launchers who just beat me to a bloody pulp. Seriously Bungie, how the -blam!- do I do this? I know I'm having a rant, but this part of the game's made me rage harder than playing Ninja Gaiden, and that was a bitch to beat.

Ok yeah I agree ninjas gaiden black is a birch to beat lol I mean a lot of people do it with shotgun bc even if you due you still gained like 2 points but I had to do it with a green void sniper bc I'm no good with shotguns lol

I did it as a golden gun hunter, only using atheons epilogue, praedyths revenge, and corrective measure. I finished the bounty within 4-5 hours of first getting it; all you need to do is play defensively.

It's not that hard man. Word of crota or Athens epilogue. Void sniper/fusion/ or shotgun. Truth rocket launcher* Or a void heavy. Depending on your play style it can be tough. Just hang back who cares if your stats aren't amazing the point of the bounty is stay alive and get kills not rank the top of every leaderboard.

Not saying it was easy, but it is very time consuming but the reward at the end is worth. Thorn is the only weapon I own that I honestly feel like I earned. The bounty can soloed all the way to the end. This includes the part where you need to kill Xyor, The Unwed. I'm not saying it's easy by any means, but it can be done (I know cause I did it). [b]My Advice[/b]: [b]For the PvP portion[/b]: - Get a good void shotgun or void fusion rifle. If you can get or have a fusion Plug One.1 than use that. Another good void fusion roll would be the New Monarchy fusion rifle. Also get a good fusion heavy. The Truth rocket launcher is a good one or if you want a heavy machine gun, I'd say a void roll on the Crucible vendor heavy machine gun is a good choice. Once you have your weapons ready, join the Crucible playlist for Control. As soon as the match starts, grab the most vital control point for whatever map you are on, equip your void special weapon, and camp / defend that control point. If you picked a good control point than your void kills will literally come right to you. Also, while defending your control point, ALWAYS MAKE SURE YOU ARE CROUCHED NOT STANDING. While crouched, you don't show up on your opponents radar as much.. I think the way it works is you fade in and out on their radar every 5-6 seconds which makes it harder for them to pin point where you are or even if you are around them. [b]The Summoning Pits Part[/b]: - Bring all your best arc weapons cause you will have to take out a lot of arc shielded Knights before Xyor spawns. Also bring a good solar heavy. For your solar heavy I recommend the obvious, Gjallerhorn, as it can pretty much two shot Xyor. Also if you have any or all of the Crota's End primaries and heavies then bring them as well. The primaries will help a lot to quickly take out the hive majors you run into as well as helping quickly break their shields or in the case of the CE auto rifle you can disorient Xyor or other wizards long enough to get two or three good shots from a heavy on them.

I deleted it on my hunter and did it on my Warlock. Did it in around 7 iron banner games.

Word of Crota is a much better choice than Atheon's Epilogue. I hate the high rof and crap impact. The Vanguard has a half-way decent heavy void machine gun. If you can obtain a void special you should be set. With an all void loud out and a K/D of 0.5 or greater, you will make progress.

Completed this bounty twice as hunter once using assault rifle and rocket launcher and the other i used assault rifle and shotgun. It can be done

I used my void Plug One.1 fusion rifle. Man that thing can one shot from a LONG distance. I felt like a complete dick playing like that, but who cares, got my Thorn! You just have to find a combo that works for you, and run with it. My load out: WoC Plug One.1 Truth As a side note, I also completed my Invective bounty while working on Thorn wahoo!!

Never run around solo. Always stay in a group. Equip anything with void and play cautious. You'll get it done.

4 RespuestasFirst off, I'm sorry you endured through Ninja Gaiden. Those games are nuts. Second, all I can recommend is to play smart, safe, and cautious. I powered through that part of the bounty in a day, with my hunter, using the only void weapon I had at the time, which was a Plug One.1 Fusion Rifle. Yeah it sucked. But it's doable. Just don't rush around, play with the mindset of NOT DYING. Do not give up. Thorn is EASILY worth this struggle. It's my favorite weapon I have now, and I have around a dozen exotics.

Just play well. I've done it once already as a hunter and I got a second bounty for it that will Gi e me another shard lol.
