I have played a lot of Destiny over the last month, I love it, and will be playing for a long time yet. I've fine tuned my Strike attacks with friends, learnt every crucible map, mastered every Story mode, and become well acquainted with the Raid. I love jumping online for the Daily Story, smashing out a few bounties with friends, and tackling PvP for some crucible marks. The weekly challenges are a highlight, everyone seems to be online Tuesday night to dissect the Nightfall, and clean up coins with the heroic. The thing is, I am an exception; in that I forgive Destiny's flaws. I see past the problems and try to focus on only the positive while playing. I encourage all to do this while playing any game, but this does not mean these flaws should go unnoticed. So now, after 300 hours play time, I give you my list of ideas that I believe, after discussion with many of the community, most people will agree will only improve the game. I've tried to avoid bugs, as they will surely be fixed in due time. Please select in Poll which point you agree with most, or leave comments if you disagree with any. We all want Destiny to be a better game, lets not have meaningless arguments, but try and give some constructive criticism and hope that Bungie hears us. To avoid crashing Bungie.net skip able cut scenes will not be in poll. Comments will suffice. 1. Explanation of end game goals. It seems a majority of players simply had no idea what to do after finishing the story. I know that I wanted to level my light to reach Raid level, and I figured I needed to increase my Reputation in the stores to buy legendary gear. But not everyone understood this. That is why people shoot at a cave, there was no clear objective. A proper introduction to the factions, vanguard store, and the huge role that bounties play in levelling these guys up, would give players direction after level 20. 2. In game grimoire. All this would take is an interactive bookcase in the Speakers room or simply a tab in the menu. I understand you would like traffic on the web page, but the fiction on these cards needs to get out there to the people demanding story. It is all beautifully written an entirely wasted. 3. Skip able cut scenes. Why can I not skip the cut scene I have viewed 10 times already? 4. Rewards for Story Missions on higher difficulties. I've heard a few ideas for this. The simplest one is a one off reward for competing each story mission, and that reward increases the higher the difficulty. Another is a Story Mission playlist that would select a mission at random, add modifiers, and rewards players on completion similar to Strike Playlist. When I finished the game I was delighted to see I could replay each mission on 20 26 28 etc. but then immediately let down by the fact that there was simply no point. Most people feel the end game content is slim, but with 20 mission and all these modifiers surely you could work something out. 5. Crucible Rewards Everyone knows this one too well. Bad players being rewarded great gear is infuriating. I would typically play PvP exclusively on any other game. I am decent, and enjoy the crucible, but that constant slap in the face when a bad players get the best rewards has me visiting the crucible less and less. The current loot system discourages good players, and a few of my friends have stopped playing because of this. I'm not sure if there is an easy fix, but I like the idea of point based loot drop, that carries over game to game, like this http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/72653379/0/0. Loot drops every 2500 points, if you only get 1500 you can get 1000 points next round and get a drop. Everyone gets loot, everyone progresses, but good players feel rewarded. 6. Skip able cut scenes. Why can I not skip the cut scene I have viewed 10 times already? 7. Another way to obtain materials. *EDIT - implemented!* Collecting upgrade materials is boring. Really boring. Like taking out the trash, or washing dishes, it is an actual chore when you need 72 Helium filaments for that new chest piece. Why is there no fun but difficult way to obtain this? Maybe implemented into the bounty system or as rewards for the Story missions on high difficulties (Which would improve 2 problems at once). If I could select a mission on, say, level 26, then every modifier I put on increased the materials I received after completion, I would be so happy. 8. Bounty Improvements. Small changes would make a big difference here. I think I've only seen about 20 vanguard bounties plus Targets and maybe 25 Crucible bounties. If I have to get Double kills with the fusion rifle one more time, I think I'm going to turn it on myself. Have somebody make more bounties, like complete a mission with only shotguns, get 3 melee kills in crucible without dying or get 3 headshots in 3 seconds 3 times in 3 minutes. Planet specific bounties could reward materials, like Kill 200 enemies on Earth for Spinmetal reward. These are just off the top of my head, but bounties are what most players are doing daily, put some effort into making them fun. 9. Companion app > Destiny integration. I cannot see my new Xbox One friends on Bungie.com friends list or in the App. This makes it more difficult than it should be to add members to the small group that I run, and also makes all leader board statistics redundant, as I can only compare with small selection of my friends from Xbox 360. I'm sure this will be fixed eventually, but it has been an ongoing problem since I bought my Xbox One. 10. Skip able cut scenes. Why can I not skip the cut scene I have viewed 10 times already? 11. Explanations for game mechanics. I played the weekly this week (Oct 12th) with a friend who has been playing since launch, but not nearly as much of me. When he joined I pointed out that Void Damage Modifier was on, to which he replied "What is that?". I explained about modifiers and what they do, he was thankful, but then said, "I was actually asking about Void Damage, what is that?". Now this person had been playing the game for about 40 hours, and he is not an idiot, it is just that nowhere throughout the game had it been explained what the damage types are, or that shield colour is effected by same colour damage type. There are other important game mechanics that just seem to be in the game, but never explained. I didn't really mind in the beginning, because I enjoyed learning how everything worked, but I've explained that exact mechanic so many times that I feel like I should be on the Bungie pay role. There is a lot of depth in Destiny, and it requires more explanation. 12. Skip able cut scenes. Getting old yet? So are the cut scenes. Thank You for taking the time to read, please comment, and select option in the poll, I would really like to hear what people think, and hopefully Bungie will hear us too. Edit- It looks like some more interesting bounties are on the way with the DLC, along with extra bounty slots. Edit- Also a lot of the cut scenes can be skipped by going to orbit during 30 second count down after mission, you still get rewards, but a simple 'press x to skip' has been around for a decade, please add this. Edit- The latest patch (Dec 1st) added other ways to get upgrade materials! You can now purchase from the quartermasters (fair price-20 material for 10 marks), patrol bounties give 10, and daily mission on lvl 28 gives 16. This removes what most people would agree is the most boring part of Destiny- the material farm. This is far better than a forum response, thank you for listening to the community Bungie, how about knocking a few more things off this list?

      • Epics - agree with all points, specially the lack of exploration (or if you do find something and your not level 20+, you get beat down by an unknown level something immune to all damage) I'd like add a few, I doubt many other people have problems to warrant the first two but: 1: an offline mode. The only thing that must to be online is strikes, raids and pvp. My internet can be rock stable or I'm getting attacked by all forms of mother nature disconnecting me and removing me fron the game world. Marion berries dont even let me connect sometimes. 2: if I get disconnected from a strike I'd love to be able to just quick rejoin session as long as it's still valid.

        • I have logged a lot of time as well. What I would like to see is the ability to skip cut scenes. We replay a lot of story missions and have to watch them every time.

            • 11. I kinda wanna know bullet for bullet damage instead of just putting 300 on auto rifles and snipers alike (think Borderlands). Also (and correct me if I'm wrong) nowhere in-game did it tell me about shield weaknesses.

              • Really well thought out mate, everything you mentioned can be implemented without much hassle and would do nothing but improve quality of play. I'm in the same boat as you and loving the game, but these things would all be positive steps to making it better. I especially agree with the story mode playlist. Grinding for upgrade materials truly takes grind to the next level. It's a daunting task, and sucks the enjoyment out of the experience. A story playlist with material upgrades would add another level of enjoyment and challenge, rather than doing laps and laps for chest respawns.

                • They need to have match making for the daily, weekly, night fall and raid. Until then there is nothing left for me to do on the game. Seriously not playing anymore until that is fixed.

                  • Faction areas, guardian npcs/outposts, faction interactions there are so many things this misses, even in game clan support. This list has too little and nothing that would really improve the game for me sadly. =/

                  • Even "in-game grimoire" is kinda a cop-out. It shouldn't just have an in-game grimoire, but it shouldn't make me feel like I need to go on a reading speed just to understand what's going on in the slightest. The story needs to be better integrated into the game itself, with cut-scense and dialogue. The grimoire should be an extra source of lore and background info for those who want to dive deeper- but we should be able to have a better understanding of the world without having to go into it.

Sorry, but you are blindly placing faith in a company that has shown ( through inaction ) that we the community do not matter. Thank you for writing this but do not expect to see any Bungie response, they made this disaster and they appear ready to go down with it instead of addressing it.

                          • Tons more cut scenes, skippable of course, with much more dialogue from dinklebot, the speaker, and even the vanguard mentors and faction leaders. I would love Destiny a million times more if these characters regularly injected story or you could have optional movie scenes where dinklebot explains to you about the races... Like a montage movie on the cabal with dinklebot narrating, showing you their military might and even that one line from the cards about using one of saturn's moons as a weapon. Or one of the Vex taking over Mercury. Or a bunch of images from the Golden Age, just painted cards, a montage of images to your beautiful music, closing in scenes from now, after everything has been destroyed and humanity is just barely surviving. Heck, tie them into the grimoire cards, lore to be unlocked. Allow all of the cards to be accessed from in-game with a character narrating most, if not all, of them; certain cards or sets of cards would unlock movie scenes to be viewed in a sort of theatre mode, in addition to all of the cut scenes thrown in. I know this would take a lot of effort, so it would be worth at least paying for... though you probably don't deserve to be paid for it after the severe lack of story at launch (this isn't a beta or early release! that's not okay to leave things out in the "full" version!) But I would pay for a smallish DLC that just gives us tons more scenes, movies to view, and a LOT more voice acting. Get Peter Dinklage to be known as that little robot from Destiny that also plays in Game of Thrones, not as that guy from Game of Thrones that also lazily plays a robot in that game everybody has already forgotten about... no wait, you can't forget about it, there was nothing there to see or hear to remember in the first place!

                            • Crucible rewarding bad players is to keep casual players around. If you're good and have the time to play 300 hours, then you probably have everything you need to keep winning every crucible match you play. But if you have a girl friend , job, and school. then maybe only have a few minutes a day to play and when you get a reward it levels the playing field.

                                  • Out of these options I picked 'explanation of end game goals.' However, I'm not much of a PvP guy. I'll play it to get rewards for my Hunter since that's what I did to be different from my other character, but regretted it and put on a silver hood instead of the New Monarchy before I hit rank 3 for it. I like fighting PvE, and I want to avoid PvP. There is only one place to use your Vanguard marks and reputation, and it doesn't even offer weapons, let alone the Sparrows that Crucible marks can get you. This game is PvP heavy and I want to have more rewards for doing strikes and dailies. I fear that this will fall on deaf ears since the weekly update from last week shows that DeeJ likes how it works.

                                    • I'd like to see the introduction mission to be playable like it once was.
A proper introduction to the factions, vanguard store, and the huge role that bounties play in leveling these guys up, would give players direction after level 20.
Well people shot into a cave due to a broken loot system more than due to confusion over the post level 20 endgame. I believe they understood that light level was the path to raid and that the place for the best loot result over time was the loot cave. You were able to pull down at least 4 blue engrams every 30 minutes which in turn were used to raise their Cryptarch level which resulted in a post office package containing purple engrams that they could either use or break down for ascendant materials if (pre-patch) they remained purple.
2. In game grimoire. All this would take is an interactive bookcase in the Speakers room or simply a tab in the menu. I understand you would like traffic on the web page, but the fiction on these cards needs to get out there to the people demanding story. It is all beautifully written an entirely wasted.
I think the Grimoire on Bungie.net is disjointed and feels like a very rushed effort. That said yes it should be in the game in some form and on the site. The Bungie.net site interface is also in need of massive streamlining as the current engine for it is very resource intensive and I doubt some older computers can render it with any type of speed. I do know the motivations of FWC et all due to the Grimoire and people would have a slightly better understanding of the Destiny world if they read it.... and the site was more responsive to those attempts
3. Skip able cut scenes. Why can I not skip the cut scene I have viewed 10 times already?
I am sure this is the only unifying thing on Bungie.net these days.
Agreed but this comes right back around to the broken loot system. Do a task for little to no reward seems to be a core mechanic in Destiny. There are only five functions with a guaranteed reward. Raid gives you ascendant mats or raid gear. Nightfall earns the highest chance at a post match exotic. Weekly gives you guaranteed coins. Daily Heroic gives you ascendant mats as does your first daily gold tier public event. Outside of that it is an absolute crap shoot. The Strike playlists at 24 give you blue drops which no one really needs at 24.
5.Crucible Rewards Everyone knows this one too well.
I am decent at PvP but would prefer to stay far far away from the Crucible. That said I agree that good play should be rewarded with better gear/drops/mats far more often though I do understand that there does need to be some incentive for poorer skill players to come back otherwise Crucible will turn into a ghost town apart from the high skill people and the PvE folks who have no choice but to go there to grind out exotic weapon bounties.
6. Skip able cut scenes. Why can I not skip the cut scene I have viewed 10 times already?
See #3 which addresses the same
7. Another way to obtain materials. Collecting upgrade materials is boring.
Mobs on each planet should have a percentile chance to drop base materials. Cabal on Mars should sometimes drop Relic Iron. Public events, especially extraction crew events could be tailored to have more of a focus on base material drops as well in addition to the chance of ascendant mats.
Agreed and this was even worse during Queen's Wrath. I was going blind on getting 200 Fallen Headshots day after day after day. Its seems like there is a pool of Vanguard bounties that will show up each day. 1. Complete 6 Patrol Missions on _______. 2. Collect 200 _______ relic from enemies on __________ planet. 3. Complete this mission with heroic 4. Kill x enemies w/o dying or y total enemies with melee without dying or z total xp without dying. Crucible bounties are largely too frustrating for me to worry about apart from kill 25 of a certain class, get 20 melee kills or win 3 matches.
Well, I can see how that is frustrating but Bungie can only put Bungie in the app. I would imagine there is no open api for Xbox social services otherwise you would see 400 mobile apps for your friends list instead of just SmartGlass. This one is more on Microsoft than Bungie.
10. Skip able cut scenes. Why can I not skip the cut scene I have viewed 10 times already?
I see what you're doing here.
I would like to take this a step further and ask that in addition to a better explanation of mechanics like Void weapons take down void (purple) shields which I also have had to explain to numerous people that the weapons have numerical values on the bars for thinks like range and impact. It is VERY hard to make comparisons using just a graphical bar. In addition I would like clear definitions of impact vs damage and what an armor rating actually does.
12. Skip able cut scenes. Getting old yet? So are the cut scenes.
It's like deja vu all over again Good post, hope Bungie reads it.
