As a level 30 hunter I have to say that leveling up is underwhelming and serves no purpose other than allowing you to unlock more missions.
When you first start to play the game it is assumed that if you at level 5 would go up against a level 7 or 8 you would struggle. As a lvl 5 vs a lvl 12-15 there is no hope for you until you reach a similar level as your opponents. This seems like something that we are all fairly familiar with.
In Destiny why is it that at level 30 it takes me just as much effort to kill a lvl 4 as somebody who is level 6? I know that Bungie dosen't want us simply blowing through the low level minions but why shouldn't we be able to? I feel like at lvl 30 I have finally earned the right to 1 shot a lvl 7 and keep going. I should feel like a badarse and not like a lvl 10 with an outfit that matches.
There really needs to be some balance changes made to make weaker enemies take more damage from higher level guardians. If there is not a damage increase for the higer level players then what is the real point of leveling just to still always be balanced out to a lower level?
I hope the Destiny team really looks into the issue because I really am finding it hard to be motiviated to raise another character or think of investing in DLC if all I will be doing is grinding to unlock the next mission that will ultimately nerf my damage output to match my enemies. There really just anything to show for being level 30 but a bunch of useless raid invites and random messages.
So far I don't really have this bad### story to tell. It's more like RNG item, grind, level up, nerfed damaged output.

I just imagine they will be raising the level cap at some point anyway and everyone will moan that their Legendary Raid Gear is now worthless...lol

1 RespuestaMy opinion is that, especially for PVE, the problem is on the armor side. Defense hardly scales up, and level 11 dregs can still kill you pretty much the same as when you hit level 12. My armor went from 110 to 330 I should be three times harder to kill...or at least 1.5 times harder to kill.

3 RespuestasI bet when the new expansion comes and lvl cap increases that those raid gain will be easily obtainable for players so that they can buy the new items to lvl up. no rush on getting 30.

1 RespuestaAt lvl 30 u still have equipment advantage over a lvl 7. Just understand that the fact ur lvl 30 do not mean ur good in multiplayer, what ur asking is please give me some advantage because i su#k in multiplayer...
-
I really don't like the way they did leveling . Everything scales so much. All the low level have a maximum amount of damage you can do them. 100 armor vs 1300 armor has much much less different then it should. As you said the only thing a lvling does is unlock content it only allows you to to maximum damage to stuff of the same lvl (ie lvl 27 attacking a lvl 28. In pve does 80% lvl 26 doea 60%)

1 RespuestaI agree. The game shouldn't turn down your level so you're not a boss. Does anyone remember how much fun Oblivion was? Ok now jokes aside, how much more fun was Skyrim and Morrowind? Exactly.
-
How do we no 30 is lvl cap. I know it is now. But why about when dlc drops?

3 RespuestasSome of us want to reach level 30 because... well, that's all there is left to do, and when the game refuses to give you a single piece of raid gear, yet enough Shards to fully upgrade 2 entire sets of raid gear, it starts wearing down on your patience and makes you wonder why you keep playing if not for reaching the next level.
-
You notice the difference at level 30 in hard mode raid and all level 28 missions. Especially in hard mode raid.

1 RespuestaLol, wtf? I dont remember anyone bitching about max rank in halo, cod, battlefield, rainbow 6... ohh wait this is more than a fps. Its supposed to be a fps/everything I ever dreamed of, right?
-
3 RespuestasI respectfully disagree with OP. Reaching Level 30 is like finally being able to suck yourself off.
-
3 RespuestasI loved being level 85 and going back to low level mobs and one shotting them all on WoW.
-
That is a problem many GM's have. Characters often gain immense power, and it is nice to let them exercise that and feel godlike every now and then. Anyway, it is that way because all enemies of the same name give out the same experience. Also makes it easier for high levels to team up with lower level guys and not steal every last kill. Weapons do have better bonuses though, so that helps a little bit.

1 RespuestaI completely agree with you. Most people who read this won't be able to comprehend that the emphasis isn't on being level 30, but rather the nonsensical nullification of higher damage output in regards to lesser leveled foes. I was actually postulating this same solution just the other day, and I'm not even level 30. My max characters are 27. My brother and I agreed that attempting to complete the 25 strikes for Bad Juju's bounty was more satisfyingly done with level 24 strikes than with the level 8 earth strike. Why? Because it'll require practically the same amount of effort to defeat the level 8 enemies as it will the level 24 ones. But at least with the higher leveled strikes there are somewhat substantial rewards.

2 RespuestasI'm only a level 27 and it took me a month to get here. granted i only play fours at night, but i plan on taking my sweet time and waiting for new and cooler shit to come out and rank up lol i just wanna have fun
-
2 Respuestashaha wtf gun are you using that you cant kill a level 7 with one shot?
-
1 RespuestaDon't know about you but I one shot most things with my hand cannon anyways.
-
1 RespuestaI disagree because even though you don't kill super quick it's still easier to kill something at level 30 vs 10. The main point of leveling up is to do higher level content not blow threw the low level stuff. Sadly the high level content is locked in dlc.
-
1 RespuestaI personally cant wait to be level 30 so that every time I go to the tower I get spammed with invites.
-
2 RespuestasI stopped at "why is it that at level 30 it takes me just as much effort to kill a lvl 4 as somebody who is level 6?" Not my experience at all. If you're having that experience, you did something wrong.

1 RespuestaTotally agree!!! I would expect that also for lvl30 players. I have my character even full spec'ed into speed instead of toughness and I don't really see a difference in hits I would get to die. Anyone do the number crunching on this? But pvp/pve gear...classes.....faction gear.....I just use it for leveling...no point for play style...or customizing your character for specific playin. Not that much of a difference. I really hope that future updates will correct this. This does feel like amateur mistakes for a high budget game! On the flip side... Cant put the game down...ugh!:)

1 RespuestaI just a created a new character, and let me tell you want a pain it is. There are places on patrol where dregs one shot me. As a level 29 I fly past them shrugging off the random hits. You have forgotten how tough your level 29-30 is.
-
6 RespuestasThe reason they do this is so that all areas of the map are accessible to all players. Otherwise they would have to have a higher level area where only the high levels are and the lower level areas would only have low levels. Also they don't want level 28's shooting every mob on site and giving the lower levels nothing to shoot at. This also allows you to pair up with a lower level friend and help them on their mission instead of carrying them through it. It's not a bad system. I personally use a scout rifle which one headshots almost all of the lower level enemies. I don't think they can get much weaker than that.
-
1 RespuestaYou will need to be level 30 for the DLC as well. There will be new strikes and new raids.
-
It's most likely to prepare for expansions which will raise the level cap with new, harder to get gear.
