Hey i enjoy playing the voidwalker spec on my warlock, mostly for pvp. But I have a few question on how certain moves interact. i'll start with this
"ENERGY DRAIN-A powerful melee attack which drains energy from enemies and uses it to reduce the cooldown of your grenade.
Surge - Killing an enemy with Energy Drain increases movement speed for a short time.
Life Steal - Killing an enemy with Energy Drain immediately restores a significant portion of your health.
Soul Rip - Killing an enemy with Energy Drain reduces the cooldown of Nova Bomb." (IGN wiki)
How does each of those moves work with:
"The Hunger - Increases the duration of the Energy Drain effect." and
"Embrace the Void - Damaging enemies with Nova Bomb or any grenade triggers the Energy Drain effect."
Surge and the hunger makes sense. so does embrace. you get the surge buff for longer" (i think i feel like i have tried this before)
but what about life steal and soul rip. how does embrace and hunger enhance, or interact at all with those abilities. does anyone have a guide to this?
ALSO. how does they combo in pvp vs pve? any other thoughts? i have my own comp i like, but i feel like i maybe missing something.

5 RespuestasEditado por Aramis633: 10/5/2014 2:51:17 PMI'll have to reroll a warlock and do testing at level 4 or 5, but after very rough tests here are my conclusions: Energy Drain (ED) reduces the cool down of grenades but not instantly as the in game explanation seems to imply. Using game terminology, it increases grenade energy over time. E.g., with my current setup ED reduces my grenade cool down (CD) by 5 seconds over its 8 second duration. It requires the full 8 seconds to grant the maximum CD reduction. In my time today toying around with the different skills, no connection was found between Energy Drain and Surge, Life Steal, or Soul Rip besides the fact that all can be activated via melee attacks. This was tested with and without an upgraded Skull of Dire Ahamkara. Where it gets tricky is in understanding how much grenade energy ED restores per second. This is due to Discipline and gear. Because of this, as I mentioned, I will be deleting my titan and rolling a new Warlock to test Energy Drain with 0% discipline and no affecting gear; this seems easier than trying to find gear without Discipline or affecting perks. I'll post results back here. With all of that said, using 100% discipline, Embrace the Void, and Apotheosis Veil I achieved grenade cool downs of 16 seconds. Sadly, this was exactly half the CD achieved with the more Energy Drain relevant Skull of Dire Ahamkara, casting the Skull in a pretty poor light. In fairness, my Skull using build only has 75% Discipline; also, this CD might be overkill as it entirely removes the benefit of Nova Bomb ED. I hope the information is helpful, the tests were really rough but I believe the more obvious results are dependable - like what exactly ED does/doesn't do even if I can't define how well it does it, yet. Tl;dr: Energy Drain simply reduces nade CD and Embrace the Void, by extension, is simply a skill that further reduces nade CDs. All the other awesome stuff we imagined would be possible with Embrace the Void (e.g., activating surge on nades for semi permanent increased movement and reload speed) isn't possible at this point.

1 RespuestaWanted to add that I have tried Lance with Angry Magic expecting to see a purple projectile track an enemy at a certain distance but unfortunately Angry Magic did not work for me. I could be just using it wrong.

1 word.......BOOM!

From what I've seen, surge is probably your best bet, it's what I use, because life steal doesn't isnta-heal you or give you a shield like a defender or sunsinger melee, it only activates an insta-slightly faster shield recharge, but if you are hit while your sheilds are recharging it doesn't help much

3 RespuestasVoidwalker subclass not adequately explained so I went ahead with Sunsinger. The Fireborn self-resurrect is a lifesaver in Raid.
-
3 RespuestasGet embrace the void with life steal. It's a life saver when you're low on health.

6 RespuestasVoidwalker set to do as much energy drain damage as possible and to keep it going that way nova bombs and gernades are even further utilized(do this with both vw and the ignite for ss class) you can use either really i use sunsinger for any hard missions for PVE to help the team as a whole and save us with the self-revive while for PVP i use vw and play control nova bomb on a control point with energy drain=death for days

1 RespuestaMy understanding was that this only applied to surge, as that it's the only time I use that combination of skills. I had a theory that for grenade kills it gave the grenade more time to kill and thus trigger a life steal? Never tested it.
