Why does no one understand how the classes work

I'm getting tired of people complaining about all the classes. Do u guys not understand that this is a basic MMO right.(meaning they took a blue print of a start of a MMO an stopped so they didn't have to call it one). It's not Call Of Duty or Halo. They didn't make this game to make it all about pvp(I think the game would be better with out it). Each class is different they are meant to be different. Quit trying to make them all the same(if u nerf them that's what will happen). Each class is used differently for a reason. The titan is a strength build notice how he uses his fist alot an has a shoulder shield to charge an close the gap. (The bubble shield is a support subclass just so everyone knows) The warlock is a magic user all of the attacks are magic based the punch, the jump, both supers. Also quit complaining about the warlock being weak, when has there ever been magic user lead in any MMO (magic users are support classes in my book why cause every time my team raids everyone know there job an out mage supports an we win every time) The hunter is ur ranged assassin which is what (oh wait that's easy range assassin) one sub class is about range with the super as a range. The other subclass is ur assassin u can go invisible, an u can blink behind the enemy to assainate them. So please stop sitting there saying saying it's not fair cause its not suppose to be. Like I said before if u want balance go play cod or halo. If u want to keep playing this game then learn how to counter the other classes or u wont get any where. Thank you

    Truth. Very True. Hmmm, I think It would be a lil easier for people to grasp this, if the classes were not built to be all things to all people, despite their characteristics / role. Quick Example: I am Not saying they should do this, but just an example of how basic MMOs do a better job at informing and distinguishing for people: Titan would be the only one that can use the heavy machine gun. It is counter-intuitive to imagine an assassin sniper or a magical being relying on a gigantic chain gun, they would not even be able to lift it. OR, if they did, it would make their agility go way down. Which is what Hunters and Warlocks live by, quickness and/or stealth. This would be the equivalent of other basic MMOs or class-based games, where only the brute force guy can wield a double-handed mace or axe. Hunters earlier on would have access to better sniper rifles than Titans, while Titans have access to better fusion rifles. Hunters would be able to use sniper rifles much earlier whereas Titans have to level up. And vice versa for Fusion Rifle. Titans are much more up close and personal, it makes since they'd have a powerful secondary weapon that sacrifices range. Whereas Hunters have an equally deadly weapon, that has much more range, but requires precision. Titan risks getting offed before he can get close enough, Hunter risks getting pounced on if he misses the shot. Warlocks would be able to use something similar to the aliens weapons from the beginning. Energy-based weaponry with medium range and less power, but the bullets have a slight curve similar to the fallen vandals or have a larger capacity and good mixture of range and rate of fire like the hive acolytes purple blade weapon. Titans and Hunters would access energy weapons much later on, it would be something similar to the Hive Boomer and Hunters something more similar to the Fallen Vandal Energy Scout Rifle. Just an example of how other MMOs make more of a distinction, while Destiny kind of has classes but still plays the middle for the most part. I could see playing the middle in PVP, but in PVE, it would be more distinguished like so. Not saying they should do this, but just an example of how basic MMOs do a better job at guiding people toward their class as a matter of play style.

    • I agree and disagree yes people need to stop assuming this needs to be halo and cod and want something new, also people need to learn to fight the other classes and learn how to fight using theirs, however people also need to do input to improve these characeristics and improve the game by showing flaws in characters.

      Yes I agree this is basic mmo I can appreciate the differences in the supers But to have each class using exactly the same weapons is inexcusable. Also the customisation of the characters is like something from the ps2 era. That's why the game is so average at the moment.

      • People are ignorant to the subject of proper balance in video games. "Hey! Why wasn't I able to kill him with my thumbtack but he can kill me with a sledgehammer!?!" We can't fix these scrubs. We can only troll them to extinction.

      • I guess I am one if the few titans who actually plays my defender the way it was meant. My fire team LOVES me for my safe haven, and suppressor grenades. I rarely play PvP, but the last time I did, I was the only defender I saw for over 20 matches. My team learned quick enough, after the first time I "Bubble Up!" On a capture point I suddenly had 4 warlocks in my shield with me feeding me light orbs..... Hahaha

        • Mages in all MMOs are pure damage. Destiny is no exception. The Sunsinger isn't enough support however in time I hope they change it to be a more support/buff class Voidwalkers shit damage. That's all they do. To help even it out, they are paper thin.

Maybe I'm just silly but I'd expect a Defender Titan to play like a PVE Tank... but it's just another ranged class with better than average support abilities. I expected my Voidwalker Warlock to be a glass cannon like a mage, but it has survivability on par with everyone else and unprecedented mobility. Sunsinger Warlock is better at CQC/melee, due to skill synergies, than a Striker Titan. The problem I have with the classes in this game are they just aren't compelling enough to play one of each. At the end of the day you're still sitting there doing the same things, almost all from range, with the same weapons and mostly the same gear only with cosmetic differences. There aren't even good class-based gear set bonuses...

            • "Mages are support classes" I stopped reading at that point. You apparently dont know the difference between dps and support.

                Actually the only valuable differentiation, aside from play style, at this point is the elemental damage your grenade, melee and super does. To date that elemental damage matters when you face an enemy with a shield and in some cases will cause increased damage to certain mobs in certain cases. This is most pronounced in Nightfall Strikes and VoG - or so I have been told. Each subclass has an elemental affinity - warlocks choose from void and solar for example.

              • I primarily use my Voidwalker as crowd control in a fireteam. AoE damage and area denial are really the Warlocks specialties.

              • Titan just needs to be able to take a little bit more damage. They are too easily killed to qualify as tanks at the moment.

                • You're preaching to the choir brother, praise the differences. For all those that don't like it, let them be case out to CoD. But on a serious note, I'm sick of the whining. Is there anything in this game people don't want Nerfed? I love my Hunter blade dancer, whom uses an Auto Rifle. I know I'm the devil, but that's the way I rock. I get shortening the range on Shotguns and Pulse rifles. However I don't go to the Crucible so my is my gaming experience changed because people can't work out better tactics. Gaming is meant to be a challenge, if you don't wanna test go play Connected 4 by yourself. Sorry rant over.

                  • And fyi I can stand right next to a titan and take just as much dmg as him. There is almost no difference in shields. Your talking about a traditional mmorpg. This is not it's a first person shooter.

                    • I'd completely agree with you, but this isn't an MMO. Even Bungie said it's not. They call it a shared world shooter. If this is suppose to be an MMO this game just got a lot worse. Don't get me wrong love/like (depending on if I'm on with friends) the game, but in no way is it an MMO.
