I just don't get this whole "EVERYONE GETS A TROHPY" mentality that bungie seems to share with little league soccer. Those who do well should get rewarded, not those who do bad.
EDIT: Just to clarify, Im not saying ONLY winners or Top 3 should get something. I'm just saying there should be some sort of benefit for doing good, whether it be a higher chance of a better item or just a guaranteed item. Otherwise, why even try to be good? I get that not everyone is good at Pvp but that shouldn't mean the that the people who are good should be stripped of bonuses.
With the way the game works now someone could join a late game and do absolutely NOTHING and get an exotic, does that seem fair?
I'm seeing some similar arguments arise so i'll put some of my responses to those here:
..." incentive to play well and win in Crucible, are the bounties, rep, exp, and marks."...
Imo NO, marks become worthless after the weekly cap and you hardly get any exp or rep from crucible aside from the bounties. And bounties have nothing to do with playing well or winning unless the bounty asks that of you.
..."if good players get better gear they will only get even better"...
Honestly, it should be that way because thats just how life works, those who strive to be good GET BETTER. But thats besides the point, this is a game la-de-blah-blah.
However, this might change your mind: In crucible everything, and i mean EVERYTHING, aside from abilities is balanced to make a level playing field for everyone. Someone with a green gun can do just as good if not better than someone with an exotic, its all up to the player.
This is all not to mention Exotic's take time to level up so if you want to complain about the abilities they have, get over it, because you have to earn those abilities with time, xp, materials, etc.
And then theres the whole thing where players can get gear outside of Pvp. So refusing them gear in crucible won't stop the eventuality of "good players getting better".
..."only winners should get loot, losers should get nothing"...
I disagree with this as an individual shouldn't be penalized because his team wasn't good.
..."It will ruin the ecosystem. Poor players will leave, good players will get bored with no up-and-comers to challenge them and the game will die."...
Once again, i never said always give the good players an exotic, just maybe a higher chance of something or a guaranteed random. That or remove rewards from those who go say, 0 and 15. I doubt that would ruin the ecosystem.

Easy solution and this still gives rng the upper hand. Ok let's take clash or control for this example. Two 6 man teams one team won ofc and one lost. Have a base % for the winning and losing team for item drops and then slightly fluctuate the % based on where your positioned on your team. So here's my example: Have a base % for blue /purple engrams and exotics top 2 players have slightly higher chance bottom 2 have slightly lower chance. People in the middle stick with the base %. Then losing team has same formula but lower values. Winning team: 1st-15% blue/4%purple/3%exotic 2nd-15% blue/4%purple/3%exotic 3rd-10% blue/3%purple/2%exotic 4th-10% blue/3%purple/2%exotic 5th-7% blue/2%purple/1%exotic 6th-7%blue/2%purple/1%exotic Losing team: 1st-13% blue/2.5%purple/1.75%exotic 2nd-13% blue/2.5%purple/1.75%exotic 3rd-8% blue/1.75%purple/1%exotic 4th-8% blue/1.75%purple/1%exotic 5th-5% blue/1%purple/.5%exotic 6th-5%blue/1%purple/.5%exotic These are just rough figures... But you get the idea it gives incentive to win and do best on ur team to have a better chance at loot. But ultimately the rng God still decideds ur fate.

2 RespuestasEdit title: Crucible: Should better players suck more dick?
-
The universal problem with this is simple. Not everyone is good in the crucible, I personally suck at PVP, I don't care about my stats, or K/D ratio. I don't dance or teabag after I get a kill, I PVP in my down time from grinding in PVE. But because I suck at PVP, and occasionally do OK. Ok for me is evening out aka 9 kills 9 deaths, that is a good day for me. Therefore I feel elated when I'm given a reward not sucking as hard as normal. If only the good players got items, everyone else would turn away from PVP. It is fine the way it is, the rewards are balanced to allow crap players such as myself to get the feel good vibes when they get a reward, and thus continue to come to the crucible. Lets make it more like Valhalla, we all go in the crucible to fight. Those that suck still get revived at the end of the day and get to sit at the table and drink and eat to their hearts content. Oh wait it is like that now, Odin ultimate PVP'er made it fun for everyone.

I am torn between this. So if bungie rewards those that play better than others than the gap between players will become larger and those who can't get gear will quit playing. So I don't see this as a viable option. However, if they want to fix this they need to remove the loot system in pvp completely. You can get crucible rep and marks anyways to buy your gear. Maybe more rep for those who earn a certain amount of medals, a k/d ratio, or total score.

2 RespuestasThe only problem with top players getting the gear is that the skill gap will just become further stretched. Top performers should get a bump to rep, small coins or something of that sort. If the best people just keep getting all the best gear, the mediocre and poor performing people wont be able to catch up. This would lead to a disadvantage in skill, and in gear, discouraging players from participating.

Each match should award appropriately on doing well , but it should keep a running tally on the ones who never do well and after awhile throw them a bone . Some people may be bad but still really want to play it for the fun of it or the simple desire to try getting better because they want to be as good as their friends , or whoever it was that just bashed their face in with some crazy ass attack (Reap200) . Even people trying as hard as they can , deserve to have as many chances to go for it as they can put up with . After all , getting constantly embarrassed , continuing to try , especially paying for the right to play , should not only be encouraged but respected . We are here to play , have fun , make friends & be a part of this together . So , those that keep trying everyday to be better should get an incentive here and there ( of course decently less often ) just for the effort they put in or the spirit it takes to remember it's a game . If the game was paid for then why not . Otherwise it would be just another way alienate individual gamers . None of us should do that to anybody in here . We aren't enemies with anybody here. We are all gamers to whatever degree , getting on this game we can kick ass or get it kicked , but getting off we should all still be smiling ...

I think the top two or three players should be guaranteed one item and everyone else has the same chances of getting something as they do now.
-
Obviously.
-
I think they should keep shit how it is. But if they were to add something, make it achievements. Like lead a raid in kills 10 times, or be the best player in a crucible match 50 times. They sorta have a system like this in place but they only give motes of light. For the tougher ones, three different choices of different legendary engrams would be cool.
-
1 RespuestaI dont think so, people are already put out of their comfort zones, since they merged pvp and pve together chances are you're already doing something you didnt want to, like people who like to play pve need to grind some pvp and the other way around, if those two would be separated than sure different system will work better as a reward but as it stands most matches will just drop mid-game with people dropping because they're loosing.
-
No.. just no.. I have 3 toons, and I average 2 exotics per week... if that's not enough IDK what is. Get over it people, PvP isn't the focus of the game..
-
Leave in the RNG, but add a curve that adjusts to KD ratios. Less than one should be mostly green with a chance of a blue drop, it should be a guaranteed blue for one or higher, and from then on the chance for a legendary increases until you hit ten, higher than ten should have a fair chance at an exotic (Never seen anyone reach ten in a match anyway, but would discourage AFK players).
-
Mine was a "Yes" and I don't spend much time at the top of the scoreboard. However, some of the top players just hide in a corner with a shotgun and ambush players, showing no skill at all. So Idk...
-
2 RespuestasIt's simply too late. In the years since Halo 3 gamers have become primarily babies. You can't have a game where only the strong survive anymore. Nobody wants to take the time to get good at anything, they want rewards just for playing.
-
Match MVP: gets 4 slots for rewards Winning team 1st and 2nd get 3 slots (if MVP is on winning team then 2nd and 3rd) Everybody else gets 2 slots That gives the top 2-3 players getting an additional roll (or two for MVP). Doesn't give a guaranteed item but gives a higher probability.
-
Maybe give them a better % chance at better loot...like... 1- 75% (better chance at a legendary+ item) 2- 50% 3- 50% 4- 25% 5- 25% 6- normal random chance
-
I voted Yes here. I have been on both sides of the fence in this reward system. I have joined a game and did less than nothing AND getting killed several times with not even an Assist, or anything to help my Team out. I got 2 Blue Engrams for that. I have also been the best player in the entire game AND on the winning Team to get nothing at all. I vaguely remember the MLG Halo 4 Tournament where the BEST player in that won I think $200,000 for showing that he was the best player. I know for a fact that 2nd place on down got less for a reward with the worst players getting nothing. That was fair and that is how this reward system needs to be. Some people might say I am biased towards supporting Bungie since I mentioned Halo 4. Master Chief in the Halo games was inspired by Samus Aran on the Metroid series back in the day. Basically, Master Chief is the male version of a hero clad in a space suit that saves humanity. That is why I was attracted to Halo when I first heard about it.

Well this game is surrounded by RNG, you cant hide from it. It wants to be seen. To give noobies hope and put elitist in check Only thing you can on deserve in this game is a "Chance" to get something random. Its not like that's the only way to get gear
-
Editado por DjNormal: 10/10/2014 4:27:53 AMYou do complete more bounties, get more rep, and have quicker access to the rewards. Which isn't saying much.

3 RespuestasAt one time I would have agreed with you. However cheaters using aimbots and hacktoolz have destroyed Crucible and iron banner. Armour that barely gets scratched, shields that don't go down and OP weapons. Now that I know these cheatwarez exist I'm staying away from crucible and iron banner. I figure what's the point. Let the cheaters have that part of the game. I hope they all come in first and see no loot for it. VtxR - PS3
-
the game should be played to make good war stories not obsess about loot you don't need cause you're already level 28
-
Because in an economic world they need to please everyone. If they did it that why only the try Garda will play.
-
"I get 100/1 kdr and got poop and some guy went 3/356 and got 5 exotics" - every reply on this thread.
-
I agree with this because I was top 1 or 2 for three times in a row in my game and first time I start doing bad I get an item and a shader. It just doesn't make sense because that means if I suck I get rewarded but if I actually do good I get nothing/garbage. It's like giving 34th place in a marathon the gold medal.
-
I finish top a lot in crucible and never have I recieved anything better than a rare! It's not right! On that basis I totally support players who do well getting an increased chance of getting something good.
