Now this ties in with my other post, where I went in depth with over powered weapons. This time, I will be explaining how the Hunter is underpowered. After discussing it with my friends, I have found many disadvantages compared to the other classes. Let's begin, shall we?
Now most of us, if not all, know that the stat specialty for Hunters is Agility. Now what benefits does that give us? Increased running speed and jump height. How does that help us in combat? Either running towards enemies for melee attacks, running towards them with a shotgun, or running the -blam!- away. That sounds great, but is it really? Not when you compare it to the other classes. Titans get armor, increasing health. Warlocks get recovery, which increases how fast your health recovers. Alongside that, Hunters would be considered more melee based than the other two classes, especially with Bladedancer. But are they really better than the other two? Hell no.
The Sunsinger subclass gets an ability which allows them to get a damage shield from dealing damage with melee. Melee takes two hits to kill someone in PvP, unless you're fighting a Sunsinger. If the Sunsinger melees you, it takes three hits, but in that time, they can land two on you and kill you. Not so great. Of course there is the drawback of the cooldown, but you only need to get one melee kill, and move onto the next.
The Striker subclass gets an ability (optional) which instantly kills you if they are sprinting towards you and they melee. This seems to have no cooldown (as referenced from a Striker), meaning the only drawback is having to sprint. The only problem with that is if there is a group around the people you want to kill. But seriously, how often do you see that unless it's Control? Not very often (or not in my experience anyways [I never see any team players]). This also isn't so great.
Now let's go on to Hunters. The only good thing Hunters get are throwing knives, which take skill to use (unless you're close range). Once you're good enough with them, you can use Knife Juggler to reset its cooldown, that is if you can get good enough with it. Blink Strike is decent, but it still isn't as long range as a Warlock's. You can use Backstab, but who would choose Backstab over Fast Twitch (I mean come on, five second cooldown!)? Even so, Backstab only works on the enemy's back, which means you have to get behind them, which means you will also appear on the radar unless you cloak and run up behind them. That could work, unless you get spotted by another enemy (it doesn't make you completely invisible), then you can kiss your rear good bye because you're focusing one guy, while another guy will shoot you. It also isn't a good idea when they have a shotgun, because you'll most likely die.
Now, on to stat specs. Titans spec for armor, Warlocks spec for recovery, and Hunters spec for agility. If a Hunter fully specs in agility, what combat bonuses will that give him? Well increased jump height really isn't a good idea for fighting because it leaves you in the air longer, and running faster will get you closer to an enemy to either melee or use a shotgun, but there's a downside to that. It leaves you having almost no armor or recovery, or both. That means if you rush towards someone, they will most likely kill you before you even get close to them. This is kind of the same with PvE. Agility just isn't as useful as Armor and Recovery inside of combat. It's only use is outside of combat. This means that the only way a Hunter can really come out with anything good is by trying his/her best to go with Armor and Recovery as much as he/she can. Even then it isn't as much as a Titan or Warlock. This leaves the Hunter with one option in terms of combat: long-range fighting. This also leaves a hole in your defenses since you will need to use either a scout rifle with a good scope, or a sniper rifle. Unless you have the Third Eye perk, or the Knucklehead Radar (which only works for primaries), you're out of the job. Now can Hunters still do good in Crucible if they dodge a lot? Kind of, yes. But not as much as Warlocks and Titans with their overwhelming power and defenses.
Now another thing is the damage resistance with Bladedancer's Arc Blade. They say we get damage resistance, yet we can still be one-shotted by Shoulder Charge, the other classes supers, a shotgun to the face, a headshot from a sniper rifle, and a rocket launcher. The only "resistance" we're really getting is from small-arms weaponry such as assault rifles, scout rifles and hand cannons. Then there's also the few seconds long animation time which leaves us open. We won't survive long.
Now you may begin posting rage comments like I know a lot of you will do. Constructive criticism is more appreciated than mindless ranting, though.

6 RespuestasEditado por Tsavagery: 9/29/2014 8:59:01 AMI hardly see the problem with blade dancing. The only annoying thing is thinking your about to kill them and then they regen there shields via super. I don't have much trouble with blade dancers, prob due to be being a gunslinger because I: -sticky grenade them -sticky grenade the ground below me -melee them as they melee me and we switch places. . everytime. . . not sure if its the bad netcode? -shotgun and melee/blade throw(gunslinger) combo. IMO melee orientated builds are bad in this game since there is so many melee counters, the most common is a well aimed shotgun.
-
6 RespuestasReally, the only issue I have is the melees with classes. I only have a hunter, and what I think is unfair in PvP is that I do not melee fast but Titan and Warlock do. It takes two hits to melee, and every single time I get punched by a Titan I always get one-hitted, no matter how much health I have. It is unfair in the since that we do not melee as fast as the other classes. Yes, arc blade is pretty powerful, but isn't the Titan shield, or the Warlock's sunsinger super? Super stats and your grenades recharge really fast and it affects team mates too? Oh no, the hunter's super is too overpowered, when the warlock gets something just as equal, and the Titan gets a freaking shield that makes him and his team mates practically invincible. The supers are equally annoying, but the melees need to be fixed.

You sir are retarded. Hunters get blade dance, OP as -blam!- end of discussion. Just to humor you though yes titan shoulder charge is a one it kill, but at the same time it is extremely rare to actually be close enough to use it. It takes a few seconds of sprinting to activate so its generally useless. Also this move is hard to control so it is situational at best. Warlocks are just warlocks, they have OP melee range and flame wizards are a bitch to kill but it can be done(just like blade dancing hunters are damn near impossible to kill unless you catch them at range). That being said I dont understand your arguments validity because PVP stats are BALANCED. I say this stats because im only referring to health shield etc which are all the same across the board.

3 RespuestasYou have a level 28 hunter and a level 6 titan, if you haven't really played with any other class then how do you really know that the hunter is underpowered compared to the other two classes. In my personal experience in pvp, the hunter seems to have the clear advantage most of the time in terms of who is the hardest to kill when they are in their specials. I have a buddy who uses a hunter and a warlock. The other day we were talking about classes that have advantages in specific modes, his opinion was that hunters are best used for pvp where they have an advantage, while warlocks are probably the best class for playing pve.
-
If you look at the armor/recovery/agility spec for each class, they all have the ability to spec to the same levels in armor, recovery, and agility. The problem people are having is that with the blade dancers spec'd for armor, they become near invulnerable, almost needing the full focus of firepower of the team on that single person. I have personally tried to kill a blade dancer with rockets and barely took down their shields with a direct hit. If you want to compare something to being under-powered, let's look at the Defender. The defender really shines in PVE, however in PVP the only modes they really do go at are Control and Salvage. True they can lock down a point but let's look at some things about their special. The supers on Striker and Gunslinger can instantly pop the bubble, however Gunslinger would still have two shots left to kill the person. Voidwalkers can not only pop the bubble with their special, they can kill everyone inside. Sunsingers can toss down a grenade on the inside making the bubble pointless (done this myself on my Sunsinger), and Blade Dancers completely bypass everything about the bubble. With melee auto-lockon, even the Helm of Saint 14's perk (blinding opponents as they enter the bubble) makes the entire bubble useless against the 1-hit kill Blade Dancers. The defender's melee special gives them an over-shield from a melee kill. This shield can be spec'd to regen, but requires the sacrifice of either enhance reload speed or orb generation (haven't seen anyone use this in PVP). In the end, Hunters aren't under-powered. People who know how to play one with agility, shine with it. However, what we see in the crucible is an overwhelming number of Hunters sped'd as heavily armored Blade Dancers with almost no penalty to agility.

If you think they suck then go make another account with a warlock or Titan.

7 RespuestasReally? Underpowered?! A blade dancer took 2 rockets to the face last night and still managed to kill me and my team. You sir are bad at PVP

7 RespuestasEditado por Oasis797: 9/29/2014 1:15:55 PMOther classes say that hunter is OP, but this is simply because they get killed by us a lot, and believe that this is the case, when rather it is just that the people playing hunter are the most skilled and outmatch the other players, despite the underpowered class. Fear not friends, we will always be superior, and their whining is a testament to such a fact.

That's crap I have played both sides and with the hunter y have a 2.01 KD and with my titan is like 1.2 so OP the hunter you -blam!-
-
9 RespuestasIn all honesty, it sounds like you suffer from one of two things: either your tactics need work, or if they are solid the execution of them. 9/10 times a hunter is the #1 in a match. There are so many hunters it's ridiculous.

I love these I'm underpowered conversations , if the hunter is that bad why not change to one you think is op

Editado por zORIGINALzzSINz: 9/29/2014 10:22:56 AMyea their bladedancer is too damn overpowered and now theres a glitch for a god mode type play in pvp its getting bad bungie what the hell is going on

13 RespuestasUnderpowered? Haha..... I'm a Titan maxed on both Classes. I've tried nearly everything to kill a Hunter using that Blade Dancer Crap. I shoulder charge one, but nope, it barely nicked his shield. Then I spammed 3 point blank shots in his chest from my Invective, only downed about 2/3 of his shield. Finally i unloaded half of a 60-round belt from my Maxed Swarm LMG, little to no effect. Titans Armor rating doesn't protect jacks*it against that move. In fact nothing does.... Our move is the opposite. I get shot out of the air Mid Super by some asshat Warlock with an auto rifle. And even if it does hit, you need to be almost directly under me to die. Or you just take a bit of AoE damage. Hunters are "underpowered"....
-
>Be a defender >use special >see hunter use special Welp, looks like me and everyone in my shield are going to die, oh well, can't do anything about it.

4 RespuestasEditado por GetRektSon_: 9/29/2014 8:36:34 AMYesterday I was doing an 1v1 against a hunter. He popped bladedancer and I shot a bazooka on him. Guess who died.
Thats right! The hunter lost 3/4th of his health and he -blam!-ing dashed and killed me. Bladedancer is OP.
-
Ikr they need to make arc blade's showstopper ability explode over the entire map and have a one-hit DoT that lasts long enough for me to go make a sandwich.
-
You're bitching that a squishy class is squishy? Wow, you're retarded. Maybe you and the golden girls can find something else to whine about.
-
4 RespuestasYou forgot the skill "invisible" yeah we can became invisible...and pity the enemy can still see us...

1 RespuestaI almost read this, but I run a hunter and know it's not underpowered, it's a class that has many advantages if you know how to use it
-
1 RespuestaI'll admit that Hunter seems underpowered, compared to some of the other abilities; however, our super seems really good. Nova bomb and shoulder charge seem OP though, I shout everytime they one shot me.
-
I actually value agility very highly. I am a titan defender who uses high armor and agility so that I can move around the battlefield more quickly while still taking as much damage away from me squishier team mates.
-
1 RespuestaIf you are a skilled player mobility is your most powerful weapon.
-
IMPO *bladedancer* is balanced if not a little op, Gunslinger on the other hand, is underpowered, and for many of the reasons he listed. I can't tell you how many times I've popped my Golden Gun only to get titan smashed in the ass, or blown to smithereens by a void grenade, and half the time when I do get the animation off when I need it I only have time for one or two kills, and God forbid I lag just a teeny but or am off by a hair. Warlock missed by a mile? CLOSE ENUFF I miss by an inch and I'm dead.
-
Saying hunters are underpowered means you're just noob, I'm a defender titan and sunsingers kill my shield in 2-3 super shots then the last shot one hit KO's me One hunter OHK me and2 other guys when we were defending a node One blade dancer ran into my shield of dawn and melee killed both me and my team mate You're just shit, go YouTube and learn to play and don't bitch about your class, reroll a different class if you think hunters are bad instead of crying about it expecting the game to change
