If you're going to stagger your content, make sure there is enough depth at the core to keep your core players satisfied until updates arrive.
If you're going to update, make the updates worthwhile. Don't keep stringing your core players along, saying that you're listening to feedback, but doing anything other than taking that feedback into public consideration. Actions speak louder than words.
If you're going to patch out the most bearable component of your drop system, take the time to understand why players are resulting to this "exploit." Take the time to understand that it's because the rest of the game does not reward players relative to challenge whatsoever.
Understand that when players feel no reward for their efforts on challenging content, there will no longer be a desire to use any of that content. Most bounties and missions are slowly becoming outdated because after a while players are realizing that they are hardly benefited at all for enduring the challenge.
Having no rewards gets old and makes players feel, especially in a game where rewards are players only tickets into content (that players are now finding unfulfilling and not worthwhile), like the game is entirely out of their control.
Please take the time to understand that videogames are meant to be controlled physically and mentally. Decisions made are entirely dependent on incentive. A video game without control in the hands of the player might as well be a movie. And a movie with an unfulfilling story is usually not a very good movie.
Your core players can be defined as the majority of players (based on comments, community conversations, and reviews) that didn't buy Destiny because they heard from a friend it was good. The same majority of players that purchased it on release because of what they were told this game would have. Because of Bungie's name being one they felt they could trust, and because of the representatives at Bungie these players had seemingly no reason to believe were stretching the truth to the limit.
With all of the awful reviews, and all of the negative complaints and gripes with core game fundamentals, and with all of the toxicity within the main community, these core players are your only chance at this game surviving the end of 2014.
If you don't want to lose your players and have a tarnished name from this game going forward, I highly suggest (as a fan of Bungie's since Halo CE) that you start trying to appease these gamers. At this rate, you're losing them and a lot of them see you as lying sellouts. If this trend continues, it could very well result in a permanent stain on anything you guys do from here on out.
Will this ship sink or will it sustain? That's ENTIRELY up to you, Bungie. You have control over your own Destiny in this very moment. This isn't a threat at all. It's a warning of what many are seeing as an easy probability.
Please don't let this be the equivalent of the Titanic in video game form. For us and for you as a corporate entity.

3 RespuestasBungie needs to tone down the randomness of the loot and reward the merit: if a player performs nice at crucible the probability of good loot should be slightly higher, if I play a mission level 28 the drops should be better than the same mission level 6. I've played 100 hours and only got ONE heroic bounty, some friends with less hours are scraping such bounties because they have ran out of space or got the same bounty two times.

one thing i have to say is u might change bungie in Activision i think they are the Reall darkness and Bungie is the Traveler kinda before Bungie did do very good with there Halo games and now they did show us lots of things who again are not in the game but i think it is not on Bungie but Activision who wants to get every penny out of us by DLC's stuff that already should be in the game and other things. like the option to give every armor piece its own shader it was in the beta but not now (u needed to be higher thel level 8 but u had the option in the armor). and when u go to a planet u sould get a flyo over with your ship not there anymore but it was there in the first trailers. and so on ...

Yep. I play Halo 3 over Destiny now :( Brand New PS4 for Destiny but the loot/crucible matching, no vehicles, no friends (left them on 360) for Destiny ... NO chat NO FORGE, SERIOUSLY? what about vehicles? this seems like it is gonna be activisions space fantasy COD and give COD the destiny play engine and COD be the FPS I dunno but this ain't right..

1 Respuestaread the patch notes. they are fixing loot

3 RespuestasAgreed. I go through and work my ass off killing hordes of enemies and a madsively tough boss to get what? Every cryptograph I pick up gives me crap that's worse than what I have and I am level 20. Getting vanguard and crucible marks and reputation takes forever. Then there's the Crucible issues. First, let's try and even out the matches. It's really no fun doing salvage games when I'm a level 20, my teammates are 11 and 9 and the other team has three guys level 24 and up. It really takes the fun out of the game when your ass is being handed to you on a platter. Then there's the Crucible rewards, levelling up is some sort of epic oddysey and getting Crucible marks 2 or 3 at a time is ridiculous.

7 RespuestasI want to hand out a BIG APOLOGY to Bungie and the community. You see, I've been ranting, trash talking, cursing, swearing, and damming Bungie. NO!! That is not who I am. I let anger and frustartion consume me. Goddammit the Darkness consumed me really hard. But I've seen the Light, and the Light has showed me the path to a better future. I apologize for all the bad talk and insults here and there throughout the forums and insulting you Bungie. The fact is, I LOVE Destiny. I just can't get away from this amazingly crafted game. Sure there are some flaws here and there, but hey, it's not the end of the world. Problems get fixed eventually. Bungie is working hard to make their project flourish. The cryptarch, the loot system, and all of that nonsense, it's just the darkness's doing. While it may be frustrating to see the bottom player get the exotics while the top player gets the rares, see the cryptarch hand over rares for legendary engrams, story missions repetitive, strikes boring, this is just the beginning. In a few months all of this will improve. Next week we have a hot fix for the loot system and the cryptarch (Thank God!!) The expansions (Well, it still is a bad move on Bungie to cut stuff to make it DLC, but it's not their fault. They are just following corporate orders of Activision. I bet that Bungie are as annoyed as we are for the whole story cut and dlc shenaningans). It is things like this that makes players fall into a rage and demand the glory of the nerf to be spilled on thee. But the truth is that all of this is just the first bumps on the road. It is just starters bad luck. This is a new thing Bungie never tried before. All games had problems before. BF4 was a mess, but now it is a good game and a lot of people enjoy it. CoD Ghosts is the same thing but with better fish AI and dogs, but the game it's still fun and enjoyable. Extinction mode was a good mix to the gameplay. So let's drop the swords, let's stop the demands to burn the witch. Let's actually help Bungie make this game the best out there. Of course, we are helping them but only for the sake of our own, and not the game, the way we are providing feedback is just plain awful. So what if the loot cave is gone, so what if the engrams drop rate has been lowered. There's still plenty of stuff to hunt on Destiny. Get marks, get Rep, rank up beyond rank 3 so that you get a guranteed legendary gear for reaching a higher rank with the vanguards and the factions. Let's just stop for a moment and think. How does other communities see us? How will they see Bungie as after seeing the way it's community is responding to their products? Right now, we are a pool of whiners that want the candy easy. We are hungry for more that we bargained for. There are members that actually are helping out in a good way, they provide feedback with exquisite positive mood. But that type of member is a dying breed. I for one opted to stop the ranting and trash talk, and provide a good, mature mood while giving feedback. Call me whatever you want, say whatever you want in a negative way, that will only prove my points and make you look like a fool. Let's be positive and support each other and Destiny.
This maybe the last post I construct the way it is. I hate fancy speeches with professionalism added as an extra ingredients. It's the internet for -blam!- sake.
Editado por theNorwegianBlue: 9/27/2014 10:15:59 AMAgreed. They hate the "farming exploits" but they don't heed to the absolutely disgusting rewards system. People wouldn't farm or resort to exploits if you f-ing reward us for doing difficult missions/strikes! All I ever get is damn axiom coven boots. Every. Time. Its seems like this game is more like a demo than a complete game. I understand its somewhat meant to be that way, but holy hell. I just can't see this game lasting 3 years, let alone 15-20 that Bungie is claiming.

5 RespuestasEditado por Hordecall: 9/27/2014 3:25:08 AMI don't agree ... I bought Destiny because I was bored and wanted a good long beautiful post apocalyptic sci-fi that would last me for days. I was disappointed at first, but I play it every day for a few hours and I really, really enjoy it. I know I'm doing the same missions over and over, but the game is freaking beautiful, the attention to detail is extreme, and at harder levels you need way more skill than gear. I just love playing my 27 Striker and making saving the day my job. I run everywhere, jump everywhere, move fast, dodge, kill, hide, counter-attacks, punch, grenade and blow up the worst nightmares spawning a wave of orbs which are going to turn the tide of the fight. Somehow I feel the more I play the missions the better I can do that and mastering it or learning to master it is a really good source of enjoyment for me. I just love to hover around the Moon or Mars or even Earth on a hover bike, see a lot of detail, maybe it's because I'm playing on PS4 too but the game is beautiful, really. I didn't like the story at first but then it sets the basis for so much. I mean look at what players discovered just by themselves, like this recent post about the Speaker's emblems being actual hidden buffs. We still don't know -sh*t-. What is the Traveller. Who is the Speaker. What species is Xür ? What happened during the Collapse ? What is Rasputin ? There is so much left to explore and if Bungie sets this on ten years then it's going to be awesome. There is also a decent chance too that with the amount of grinding we're doing we're really getting into the game, which means any little change will be a blast. My point is this is -just- a video game. Yeah, it has its flaws. But it sets up something I enjoy playing every day so who cares. I'm saying this but I appreciate the hardcore comments of the gamers though. I think you guys are incredibly demanding but I also think it may push the game to be even better. So don't stop the critics coming. But remember. HOVERBIKES !!! SPACE !! YAAY !!
-
We need to keep this at the top, please take note Bungie, you sucked a lot of the fun out of the game with that last patch. Everyone I play with agrees, it's not as fun as it was two days ago.

I think they should make better use players stats to balance the play of the game. particularly in PvP, and then reward accordingly. By that - I mean look at the abilities of players based on prior PvP stats, PvE stats, hours played, etc., and match people that way. So a noob like myself gets teamed with other noobs to play against , and we're not crippling otherwise good teams, or being fodder for the quick-twitch gods. Eventually we will get better and graduate to better competition... and the expert hard core FPS, and noobs alike can compete and expect their rewards based on performance. The random distribution of gear is there because making the rich richer and the poor poorer is really not an equitable system. Unless they find better ways to match up players, the random lots seems the best solution to grant some sort of equity. Engram bait and switch sucks - period - nobody will argue that - but its being fixed.

5 RespuestasI have been playing this game since day1 like the most people here... I'm 35 years old with a regular job that takes away most of my day during the week, as you can understand I have a very small amount of time to play this game, except for the weekends where i have most of the day full. So, i try to play this game everyday around 3-4 hours max. When i play i pick the Bounties, do the daily mission, do the public event, and i go for the hardest Strike Playlist. The bad thing is that i never ever get any good loot from doing these activities...and when i do, chances are that the Cryptarch will give me his balls in exchange for a Legendary engram. Needless to say i was so happy with the queens missions, the difficulty was just right and the rewards, made your effort worthy...so i got interested in getting the bounties to do the missions. But you decided to kill this activity with no reasoning...so now until the 6th these missions are just decorative. My point is make this game worthwhile the time you invest on it!!! I can't play for 8 hours per day waiting for that engram and then going to the Cryptroll only to get mocked by a worthless item!!! I want REWARDS when completing a difficult mission!!! The strike playlist should net you some engrams, or at least some ascendant materials... I've never shot a single bullet in that cave and now i start to really regret that...with the time i devote to this game i m sure i would have so much better gear by now. Long story short is...make your game worth playing...shooting at things with no rewards is just stupid.

8 RespuestasRemember Destiny is barely making its debut, its only the start of what's to come. I'm pretty sure Bungie is aware of all happenings and are reacting asap. Hopefully all will come out as planned. Long live Destiny. Destiny is life.

3 Respuestasi have to agree there was very little truth to the commercials and promotions... explorable world, if you can see it you can go there.... lies earn your loot reward system... lies im sure the list goes on

I couldn't have said it any better (and not because english isn't my primary language). I am what you would call a "Farmer". I do have a land where I grow crops, I play Farm Heroes Saga AND I do not enjoy getting my arse kicked in Crucible. First they removed the "trade in" Vanguard Marks Reward for Spinmetals etc., now they took away the Engrams drops and the shards received from dismantling the Queen Gear. Gawd....I was soo glad I was able to finally upgrade my legendary gears...oh well. Life goes on and there are games out there worth playing for a Farmer like me. I didnt get Titanfall nor any of the FPSs that came out in the last 6 months as I was waiting for the story in Destiny! The story wasn't there, but the kick-ass gameplay and the hard-to-get loot did keep me playing to 2000 (close to) Gridmore Cards (didn't wanna share how many hours I actually played cause it's embarrasing). I give Bungie til the 14th of October. Cant wait to do some damage on the moon of Pandora!!!

Shut up Meg!

I'm in the same boat did VoG two times and got upgrade materials no armor no guns so that was a letdown.

We'll said hopefully they continue to listen

I agree with everything said here, I'm PvP 27 and can't level without ascendant materials, but can't even get them now. Challenges aren't always difficult, and to me games like dark souls is not fun, and frankly the fact loot is even more scarce now is like taking a dump in my coffee. I have to work and barely get to play, and now it feels like I shouldnt even play
