i personally dont care if other people do it but deep down you all know it is an exploit. the fact that all these people are trying to justify it as the way the game should be played is what frustrates me. i am 98% certain that the during the design phase of this game the devs were not thinking "hey wouldnt it be cool if there was a cave where all the players could go to endlesly spawn kill hive to farm for loot thats supposed to take them days to aquire in an hour or so and completely negate all the other stuff we are throwing into game for them to enjoy? "
edit: this just in! looks like they nerfed the spawn rate of that cave!! guess all you guys in the comments who said if it was an exploit it would be fixed just got proven right!
edit two: Also here is a quote from the news page.
shooting at a black hole for hours on end isn't our dream for how Destiny is played. Our hope is that social engagement in public spaces is only one part of the Destiny experience. Expect changes soon which decrease the efficiency of cave farming and correspondingly increase engram drops from completing activities.
2 RespuestasThe cave is only good till you get to 24, then you have to go back to farming the strikes
-
1 RespuestaI personally don't care, but let my tell you how much I care.
-
3 RespuestasThe only reason I farm is because I am compiling statistical data on engram drop rates. Everyone else farming have been approached by me to aid my research.
-
20 RespuestasI don't know where everyone gets the idea that they can tell everyone else how to play. If Bungie doesn't like it, they'll fix it. That's between the cave farmers and Bungie. You're nowhere in that.
-
3 RespuestasYou know I keep hearing all of these complaints about farming, but what I can't understand is how it negatively effects anyone? There is no trading in game, no way to make any kind of profit off of the items farmed or any way to take advantage of other players by doing so... So my question is, what's the big deal? Some people choose to replay the game in order to get their gear, some people would rather shoot at a cave. To each their own.
-
1 RespuestaThe whole destiny universe is a big exploit not just the cave...enemies respawn everywhere at any location on any planet...that's how this game works
-
2 RespuestasLet people do what they want, it's PVE, it doesn't affect anyone other than the people who are doing it.

7 RespuestasHere are the reasons against farming I see the most on these forums. Risk should equal reward: Go see how much damage you do to a level 20 acolyte and compare it to the lower level ones. They'll go down the same as long as your over level 20. It's an exploit: I've played enough MMOs to know what an exploit is. For example: When DCUO first came out, if you had flight and brawling equipped, then you could just stay in flight and tap square to where it wouldn't do a combo, but just the regular quick hits would do 3x the normal amount. Or the money transfer glitch to where if you sent anything over 2 billion in the mail it would just give you money, you could have hundreds of trillions with in an hour. Both of those examples had me manipulate the game in order to get results. What people are doing with this cave is clearing the field of hive so they'll respawn. I'll admit this farming location is really easy to farm, but that's all it is. They're missing out on how the game's supposed to be played: Let's face it, the game is a couple days of story missions and then the same end game stuff over and over again. Chances are they're already level 20+, so they've done a good portion of the game. Doing this farm isn't going to make them miss out on anything. They'll have to do every mission eventually through the daily and every strike through the weekly if they want their respective rewards. Disagree with the farm if you want, but know what your disagreeing with.

That shit was in the beta and people posted here then. They left it in the game knowing we'd be back

13 RespuestasI know it's an exploit yet I still enjoy it. My gf asked what I was doing because it looked boring and I told her I was basically cheating. I don't mind if I'm taking advantage of an exploit. I'm one of the unlucky people that literally never had a legendary at lvl 24. I farmed the cave for a few hours and finally got a legendary. The GNR has been terrible to me so this is slightly making up for it. Still not getting legendaries left and right or even useful rares so I don't find it that much of a cheap tactic.
-
3 RespuestasTell me this, if bungie meant for that cave to be farmed, then why do you have to stand so far away to shoot into that cave? Why not stand at the mouth of the cave and melee enemies as they spawn?...Oh thats right, bungie has a system in place to keep that cave from spawning enemies when you're too close. Sounds like an anti-spawn killing system to me. Those who stand back and shoot into the cave are doing so to bypass the system bungie has in place, which means they are exploiting, regardless of whether the drop rate is worth it or not. I really hope bungie fixes this soon. I'd hate to see such a great game be flooded with level 28's that don't know what a "Strike" even is, especially if matchmaking puts them on my fireteam.
-
I tried it for fifteen minutes to see what the fuss was about. Godawful boring.
-
I did it a few times and quickly got bored of it. The loot drops aren't that great, a bunch of greens to dismantle and maybe a handful of blues if you are lucky. The only purple I ever got while doing the cave was dropped by one of the ultras during the war sat public event that landed nearby. I've found patrols/spin metal farming routes while killing enemies to be much more lucrative in terms of loot drops so I do those now instead while patrolling to level up Vanguard.
-
I guess they set the spawn rate ultra high and made the enemies killable and low level by accident then. I supposed they never meant to have a area with lots of enemies, Random massive battles and going out of their way to make spawn rates highers higher as a joke I guess. I guess I might as well be using a glitch to dupe items and getting out of the map because I guess its the same thing. Its not the fault of the game having loot drops based on kills and not time in any way and Its ours
-
If u didn't care u wouldn't have posted about it
-
I do it, but I don't recommend it. I'm doing it on my 27 Warlock because I'm trying to get back the 25 motes of light I so selfishly spent on a bond just to make my arm look a little cooler. Once I get them back, I'm done with it. I've already saved up a bunch of strange coins for Xur from the weekly strike so when he comes back, I'll be spending like crazy.
-
4 RespuestasBy definition we are exploiting this location. However, it is a common activity in almost any game that is built with a loot system like this or Diablo or even WoW. So to all the people against it OH WELL. If Bungie has a problem with it they can handle it with an update without the consent of the community.
-
Exploit or not, I wouldn't do it if these damn engrams wouldn't nearly pay out with sh*t most of the time. 2+ hours of farming and 2-4 legendaries turning into blue gear... Great......
-
8 RespuestasHaha, you've never played any MMO type game eh.....? Anyone willing to stand and shoot one spot for an hour or three or five to MAYBE get an engram that MAYBE will be a good piece of loot, MAYBE for their class....well, they earned it. Me, I'd rather grind strikes or crucible or whatever. To each his own. Farming is mind numbing boredom, rng dependent, and completely acceptable. Don't be angry because you don't want to do it but still want the gear.
-
5 RespuestasThese people aren't hurting you by doing this. Exploit or not, it isn't ruining your Destiny experience any.
-
1 RespuestaIf you don't care why are you posting?

7 RespuestasYou do realize every so often higher lvl enemies spawn in that door to the left.. That is not coincidental. Bungie knows what's up and would have taken care of it if the lottery cave was a problem. Welcome to Destiny. Not all Legends have proud back stories.
-
1 RespuestaI get gear for playing online matches too isn't it the same?
-
1 RespuestaI'm a loot whore so what XD

20 RespuestasHere is my question, with people doing it in not only the alpha, but the beta as well, don't you think if bungie gave a damn they would have changed it before release? Just a thought.
