So turns out Destiny's maps aren't open world. You can't "climb that mountain over there". Skyboxes turn distant landscapes into unreachable locations. Zones are linear and and simply funnel you from one small area to the next.
As if this isn't bad enough we only get ONE ZONE PER PLANET. So we get about 4 of these forge world sized maps come September.
How pissed are you?

I was fine with the size of Old Russia in the Beta. As long as each zone on each planet is as big or slightly bigger than old Russia, I'm fine. I never expected this to be like Red Dead Redemption.
That game was huge.
I'm not mad about the size of the game, but I am pissed that the guy lied to us in that first gameplay reveal when he said that "oh you can just go to those mountains over there." The size doesn't bother me, I think it will be more than big enough, it's just a very unsavory, yet unfortunately standard, business practice

I'm not. I'm giddy.

4 RespuestasProbably about the same as what your girlfriend felt when she first saw your penis. ZING!

At least give a source for how much larger you claim they claimed it would be.... I honestly would've gotten months of mileage out of the crucible off those four maps playing control alone. I am ecstatic thinking about how much more will be in the full game, and I will be playing it nonstop for a WHILE!!!

Ive promised much larger things and been satisfied anyway...

8 RespuestasFun matters more than size. I would rather have a small area with lots to do than a large map of barren nothingness
-
2 RespuestasNot pissed at all. I would assume more worlds and explorable areas with new dlc.
-
2 RespuestasYour doing wrong. Try holding the destiny world up next to your brain, you find that is much bigger than that thing.

Denial, anger, bargaining, depression and finally acceptance. I worked my way through the five stages of grief and have come out the other side. I have come to accept that Destiny is a feature free experience. Features we take for granted and are fundamental to social cohesion and competitive gameplay are not here. This is being billed as a "design" decision. If by that they mean, the game would never have come out if they would have included all those features then, yes, it was designed that way. Bigger game, more features, more debugging, greater system resources. Face it - they didn't spend the time and money. If they include it in the next game they will say thy "listened to fan feedback" and look like heroes. Bottom line they cut costs and development time to reach street date and profitability.

4 RespuestasI also jump to conclusions after a beta that was specifically for testing the servers not giving players a full hands on experience of what the full game will be.
-
Quality > Quantity. I loved Old Russia. I'd take 5 good sandboxes over 25 mediocre ones.
-
I'm gonna be completely honest I don't remember the devs ever talking about the world size
-
Promised? No, the size of worlds wasn't specifically told to anyone. This game is still going to pack more play time in it than most games.
-
How about stop complaining! If you liked the beta then get the game, if not nobody is making you play it! Simple as that.
-
I'm not pissed at all. The game is great

5 RespuestasNot sure if thinks beta is full game
or completely retarded
2 RespuestasIs there a none of the above option? Its not like this game was supposed to be Skyrim jeez. Perhaps its was OP who had unrealistic ideas of what this game should be instead of what it was promised to be. I think Destiny will grow as DLCs are released but for now its just fine. The game is crisp, environments beautiful, and the gameplay is quite enjoyable. People keep making posts like this but I think, they fit under the category of "I had bigger expectations for this game because I let my imagination run wild". If one of my clan mates ask me to join them towards the bottom of Hellmouth on the moon, I am still going to groan at how far I am going to have to drive/run/fight to get there. And thus that justifies the size of the maps for me. Also you need to not think so linear and think more about width and breadth of the game. I know for a fact there is a part of Old Russia that we couldn't explore because it was locked off from the beta. And it's friggen HUGE... Also there are all the areas that were guarded by high level enemies. Yeah, there were some that charged in, but how much of those areas did you really get to explore? If you took your time then maybe you wouldn't see Destiny that way.

Your hyperbole is showing.
