There are arguements for both machines.
My suggestion is go where the games are. Look at the console exclusive games. If you primarily play fps games then xbox is for you, for all the other sorts of games then ps4.
From a purely hardware point of view the ps4 is a superior machine even with the approx 10% memory free up that the xb1 has just had. That being said your only likely to start to see a difference in games 2-3 years from now and even then only in the multi platform games.

Doesn’t have focus on TV and Sports like the xbone does (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KbWgUO-Rqcw) 10. Doesn’t have advertisements on its GUI, like the xbone does. 11. Didn’t make you buy a kinnect and then remove support for it 6 months later 12. Has exclusive content in Destiny 13. Has the largest player base in Destiny of any system 14. Was able to play the Alpha and Beta in 1080p (I call this “proven” 1080p, not to be confused with a 2 minute video with no shooting/action/explosions) 15. Has controllers which don’t require AA batteries or firmware updates
