It begins with the premise that an energy which permeates all existence is populated with representations of certain ideals and mindsets which constitute gods in their own right. We shall call them the High Gods and Low Gods, respectively. The High Gods represent stability and stagnation. If a noise were used to represent them, it wouldn't be silence as silence is easily corrupted, but the loudest monotonous noise you had ever heard. The Low Gods represent mutability and corruption. They are, in a sense, a reaction to the static nature of the High Gods, and they find purpose in corrupting and mutating that which the High Gods try to keep constant. The nature of the permeating energy gives the Low Gods the advantage, as it is naturally malleable allowing them to bend it to their will and easily assault the energy of the High Gods, who attempt to maintain their own status quo. Accordingly the High Gods try to create a material realm. One which the Low Gods will find so repulsive that they don't even want to interact with its static un-corruptibility. One which is so permanent and immutable that the Low Gods couldn't comprehend, let alone alter the realm. However, the Low Gods learned of this and set out to corrupt the unfinished realm. It resulted in the creation of a torn material realm, with currents from both sides of the ether flowing to and from it. The material realm created a buffer between the High and Low Gods, and a point of mutual interest. It is a point of conflict, also, with the nature of the realm reflecting the High Gods, but the essence and energies inherent in men and animals reflecting the Low Gods. The material realm has intrinsic worth to both sides, as the Low Gods find the permeating energy too easy to manipulate - thus creating back-and-forth instead of genuine corruption and change - and the High Gods find it too difficult to protect and fight for. The material realm has a sense of permanence for both sides.
