I've often wondered the same while wondering why the Internet has such a fascination with it. Honestly, it had a terrible plot that I believe a preteen wrote, special effects from the 80 ' s, and a damn cult following!! To each their own I guess but for reals I'd like the fans to look at this objectively and tell me it's a decent show.

Personally i like it but have to agree that once Russel T Davies stopped co-writing with moffat that it went downhill, including the introduction of the god awful river song. You should try watching when capaldi comes in, every doctor is different in how they act and it really keeps the show fresh.

From the very few episodes I've seen, the biggest part I didn't like about it was the sci-fi aspects. So damn cheesy.
